You're the scrub here. If you seriously want Bay to fail because you disagree with the trade' date=' then please stop being a fan of our team. I know I know, you never said that, but that's sure what it sounds like. Personally I hope Bay gets a standing O from the fans as a show of support to get behind the guy, and I hope he has a great final 2 months for the Sox. I don't care if you don't like the trade, support the name on the front of the jersey anyway.[/quote']

Oh I support this team no matter what. But this trade sets us up for the future and the future in my opinon would be to have Bay traded asap. This isn't the NL and this isn't Pittsburgh. If I am wrong i'll admit it but i'm going to guarentee Bay gets his ass kicked for him in the AL.

Yeah... Bay's a "scrub"... the type that hits 30 HR's a year. You're disqualified from this conversation for being a f***ing idiot. So should the rest of you who say "Bay sucks"...

Jesus Christ, people... overreact much? I don't like having thrown in Moss and Hansen and having not gotten bullpen relief back, but come on...

Personally, I'd grown sick of the Red Sox handling this malcontent with kids gloves for as long as they had.

Bay will not produce anywhere near as much as Manny offensively. This deal is pathetic...we trade a future Hall of Famer, 2 prospects, and pay for Manny just for Jason Bay, a decent player who has performed well for a small market team. This trade is terrible unless I see Bay produce on a Manny-like level.

Manny is leaving the hitter friendly AL parks and heading to the Pitchers park of the NL west' date=' throw in he has to face almost all new pitchers, I say he will do ok but I don't think he will be unbelievable.[/quote']

Ummm....

He goes from facing the pitching staffs of New York, with Joba, Pettitte, and soon Wang, the Devil Rays with Shields and Kazmir, and Blue Jays of Halliday and Burnett. In return, he faces who outside of Peavy, Haren, and Webb? Let's not forget that the bullpens of NY, Tampa, and the Blue Jays?

Like I said....wanna bet?

This is just about f***ing ridiculous...

They trade a better player as well as 2 others for someone inferior?

I can seriously see this going to hell in a handbasket.

I'm f***ing furious right now. And I lost a bet.

What was the bet?

For all those ass clowns saying Bay sucks, who else would you have wanted? Manny isn't an option, he wanted out.

Moss has no where to play and was not destend to be the future LF(the only spot available anytime soon).

Hansen has good stuff but is still more of a worry then a reliability at this point.

That has nothing to do with anything. I didn't even know this forum existed until yesterday. If you want, I'll link you to some other sites I post on and you can see how many posts I have there.

This is getting worse, look at Bay's hit chart:

he is not a pull hitter, all of his ground ball outs seem to be to th left side, but when he hits it in the air, he is hitting it to the big part of Fenway, plus a new league, and new pitchers, asn we all know how well that worked for JD last year,

unreal..... you want him to do bad so the Sox will trade him.... I guess in your world a player not playing good makes his trade value higher. If you really want him traded, then you should be hoping for a monster 2 months and for the Sox to sell hi and get a good return on him.

I can't be anymore blunt, Manny quit on the Sox to force a deal, if Manny wanted to stay he would have vetoed any deal, he wanted out, he didn't want his options picked up, he wants a new 4 yr deal. Let the Mets sign him.

Omar Minaya is the only big market GM in baseball worse then Epstein... The team showed guts and he left them hanging at the deadlne 2nd straight year. Now you want him to get Manny? Thats like asking Theo to stop making retarded moves such as Arroyo for Willy Mo, Murphy for Gagne, Getting Coco the list goes on i'm sure.

By the way .. Mr. I Have More Posts Than You Do. Can you explain what control you two thousand and something posts has given you?

Thought so.. shut the f*** up.

I agree with a lot of what you've been posting in this thread, but this post is silly. We were all new here at some point.

Yet, the Red Sox are considered the model MLB franchise right now. How can you explain that one?

I don't doubt you post elsewhere. But Posters on this site that have been here for some time have a reasonable stand on the day to day operations. The newer posters seem to be running around like chicken with there heads cut off. yes I would like to see the Sox win every season. But being a reasonable fan, I know that this is nothing more then a pipe dream. This move frees up money and brings in a player that at this point in time is posting numbers comparable to Manny.

Who knows, this guy could break out playing for Boston after playing in depressing Pittsburg all his career. the Sox could ride his hot bat all the way. Give the guy a chance before you totally right him off.

Uhh cause he is a stiff? Why else would he be on the Pirates so long?

Because he didn't have a choice. What was he supposed to do? Throw a tantrum and demand a trade?

Posted
The truly infuriating thing is that the Pirates got 4 good quality prospects for Bay when they got 4 so-so prospects for Marte and Nady combined.

Let's just say this... Theo should be scouting director, not overseeing the entire baseball operation.

Ok.

Considering he has 2 more HR's than Manny to this point and only 4 less RBI's in a lesser Pittsburg lineup? Put him in the Sox lineup and he will thrive.

What could have been a very quiet trade deadline ended up being ridiculous. Look at these names:

Ken Griffey

Ivan Rodriguez

Arthur Rhodes

Mark Teixeira

Casey Kotchman

Casey Blake

Xavier Nady

Damaso Marte

Joe Blanton

Rich Harden

CC Sabathia.

This doesn't even include some serious prospects that have switched teams.

Again i'm not saying this negative way, it just seem like the Posters that have been here awhile seem a littlle more level headed then the new guys. I was just stating an observation, i'm not saying all new posters are not entitled to there opinions, they just seem to be of the same cloth is all.

Mark me down as in support of this trade.

Me too. They were flat/terrible lately. Coincidence, maybe, but Manny's bitching had reached new levels, and his half-assing wasn't cute anymore. Shades of Nomar (attitude-wise) - Nomar was a pissing and moaning malcontent before he got dealt too. This deal makes them better in the long run. Manny was gone after this year anyway. Bay will still be around, on the upside of his career, and gives the Sox 30 HR 100 RBI power. They sign him to an extention midway through next season, cool, if not, they still get the draft picks. The money they save on Manny lets them go after some help in the off season. Think big, people, look to the future. Moss and Hansen were not the answer. Nice pieces, yes, but not irreplacable. This deal keeps this season alive AND makes them better headed into '09 too.
