I was at Dodger Stadium tonight taking in a game when the 2-1 score changed to 5-2 in a four run eighth and it made wonder if someone hit a big homer or something. When I got home I had this very sneaky suspicion that it could have been "our friend". I was hoping in an earlier post that he might get a single and double and drive in a couple of runs to day. He went one much better than that and we have to take our hats off to him to winning that game for us. However, I still have deep reservations about the guy. Maybe, though, he will start really doing something this weekend at YS to make up for that disastrous weekend he had the last time he played there. He did shut his detractors up tonight. Good for him.

Props to Cerrano, I give him some crap but got tot give credit were credit is due even if this is a one time deal and he goes 0-4 next games with 3 Ks. Or maybe this will springboard him towards the potential playe alot of people see. Hes gotta start somewhere and maybe it is here...

^The butterfly effect; the Red Sox could have very well won with Crisp in the line up as well

That was a sweet shot, but it doesn't change the arguments about WMP. He still can't hit anything but fastballs, but I don't think anyone is arguing that. That was an amazingly clutch shot off a good pitcher

ive always admired the raw talent of wmp and have defended him with all the zest that this man has in his soul.....bwahahahaha

anyways

he was on the ball all nite long, even the dp he hit into was a rope

i hope to christ he continues

this is the weekend where we can put cock robin in the dust

It was a nice shot and helped us win the game! If Magadan works with him some more, maybe just maybe, we can see him have an influx of hits and not strikeouts! Good for WMP!

It's not like this guy was chopped liver last year, he hit 301 for the season with a bad wrist and solid power. I realize we traded the greatest .500 career, 4.7 era pitcher in the history of baseball with no ability to get lefties out in the american league and hbp records were set by him. Let's be real here, we have Bronson Arroyo on the team maybe even two in Tavarez and Snyder. Should these guys get traded would they also be viewed as great pitchers in 20/200 hindsight too.

why teams would throw this man anything but breaking balls is beyond me

they shouldve fired their closer and pitching coach for throwing this guy a belt hi fastball with the bases loaded up a run

I think WMP shouldn't be on our team 1 day longer. He does absolutely NOTHING to contribute to this team. I dont care about people that like him or think he has potential. He is doing nothing for the team, therefore you cut him. Period. Last year was a false glimer of hope. Pitchers now know how to pitch him and he will never be productive here. I don't care what he does on other teams. He will never be productive for the Sox in the AL East, there for you trade him. If he was defensively sound or had good speed, I'd be more adp to stick with him, but he doesnt have a single good atribute. Terrible defense, speed, hitting skills, and no baseball smarts. Bring up Murphy please.

This being said, he probably will have a good game or 2, and hit a few more homers. In the law of averages, he will have a few good games, but its the average that matters, and more than on average, WMP is and will be terrible and will not help our team win.

A blind Squirrell finds a nut every once and awhile tho...

Cerrano either drives you nuts or makes you jump for joy, you have to except this with him like it or not. Like I said before hes better then alot of 4th OF and isnt that expensive, so right now I don't have an issue with him on the team...

from sosh (Steve Brady):

WMP as a starter:

.278/.316/.667/.983 - 5 G, 5 GS, 19 PA, 5 for 18, 2B, 2 HR, BB, 7 K

the rest:

.000/0.214/.000 - 8 G, 2 GS, 14 PA, 0 for 11, 2 BB, 8 K

I've been a WMP detractor to some extent...but more accurately I've been a real "trade for WMP" detractor.

That said, I was pumped for the guy last night, more so than I'd generally be. While it was a great thing for the NAME ON THE FRONT of the uniform, I'm hoping it proves even more pivotal for the name on the back.

Really nice to see him have some success...and if you look at the way the rest of the team responded to him, they were feeling his pain too. Would love to see one land in the monuments this weekend.

Rich Hill works out at my school's weightroom over the winter with Zak Farkes, who is currently in the Red Sox minor league organization (my school is in Cambridge). He's from Boston and works with my school's coaches when he comes here. I do strength and conditioning over the winter so I saw him a lot. It was really cool.

Coco and the rest of my friends, I have not been getting E-Mail notices from any of you on my computer the past few days and that is why I have been remiss in answering some of your posts. I don't know why that happened but this morning when I logged in I had a boatload of messages that I didn't know I had.

Last night was a bummer, pure and simple. We let the A's stick around and it cost us. Hopefully tonight we get our s*** together and beat them.

Wow' date=' sweet. I love Rich Hill. Theo went to my HS, and his brother is a guidance counselor.[/quote']

But then again, so did Barbara Walters....

Schill, you ever meet his brother Larry? He coaches AAU baseball down here in CT. I think he's a former BC player.

I don't think I'm in the minority in that Wily Mo doesn't really fit on this team. He's aweful defensively and needs regular playing time in order to develop into a more polished hitter. I think it would be best for the sox and for Wily Mo if we traded him to a team where he'd be a regular.

So I was thinking...

What about a trade to the Pirates for Xavier Nady? I think the Pirates might do it considering they have one of the worst (if not the worst) offenses in the league and could use Wily Mo's power potential. Meanwhile the sox get a right handed bat off the bench and a guy who can handle both all OF positions pretty adequately in Nady.

You are.

He's aweful defensively

I'm sure you mean awful, and you're wrong. He's a solid CF, awful RF. With Drew on board for five years, that won't be an issue.

No, it would be best for the team that gets him. If he develops into a polished hitter, we'd be making a pretty bad trade. Especially for.....

Xavier Nady?

Seriously, what the f***? This guy has no plate discipline, and has mediocre power. Why? Why would you do that?

I think the Pirates might do it

Might? They'd let Theo f*** the owner's daughter if that were a condition.

considering they have one of the worst (if not the worst) offenses in the league

Looks like Nady is doing a great job.

and could use Wily Mo's power potential.

So could we.

Oh, you mean like Wily Mo Pena?

Oh, wait....
