Congrats to Jeter on his 200 hit even though it was a real cheapie aided by the home town official scorer. It's been a pattern in NY that the press actively aids and creates the myth of Captain Intangibles. The shot of the stands shows his father shaking his head "no" thinking it was probably an error. C'mon, Poppa jeter, you should know that the press will always help out your son.

Do you ever shut up? Is there ever a moment where you're not out to get the Yankees, or anybody associated with the Yankees, in some way. No matter what it is you always have something to say. If you want to congratulate him do it, and then shut up. Don't go on about how he doesnt deserve the hit and how his dad should know that his son will always get the call and everything. Jesus, you're like a 6 year old kid.

86 years of anger and aggression is bound to make a fan grumpy and spiteful :harhar: (kidding, just a joke...don't jump all over me now ahh!)

Anyways, it doesn't really matter how he got it because he's going to get more. It's not like it was a cheap 75th homerun that sets a new single season record or something. It's an awesome personal achievement that is just one of the many amazing things he has done in the last decade. Congrats to him, major kudos, muy bien, and all that jazz.

Yes, that's my MO. Don't you know that by now. I am still laughing about his 10 foot little cheapie official scorer gift hit. If the Yankee press didn't act like school girls with a crush on Jeter, they would have scored it properly and he would have gotten #2000 a couple of innings later--a hit he could be proud of. Yes, I want to congratulate PD on his swinging bunt error called a cheapie hit #2000.

BTW: The field is under water.

They haven't called it.

Can they call it? I didn't think they could do that with the home team trailing and the bottom of an inning not played.

Sure they can as long as the visiting team was in the lead at the end of the last full inning.

I dont think you are right 700. I remember believing what you believe, but with the royals getting a chance to hit in the 9th and us not getting that opportunity, I believe it calls for a continuance because an inning was started without the home team having a chance to tie it up. Either way, we'd need 2 runs in 3 outs and it will get played, so it is rough either way....

Baseball rules Article 4, section 12.

Weather, if the game is called while an inning is in progress and before it is completed, and one of the following situations prevails: (i) The visiting team has scored one or more runs to tie the score, and the home team has not scored. (ii) The visiting team has scored one or more runs to take the lead, and the home team has not tied the score or retaken the lead.

In this case, the Royals had already had the lead in the eighth inning. The eight inning was the last completed inning, and if a case of the game being called the umpires would revert to the last completed inning.

So, the Royals would win 7-5, ending their losing streak.

This team needs a starter to go out there and pitch more than just a couple innings. Right now, this bullpen is just atrocious. Hopefully Wang can go out there and give the Yankees 7 or 8 innings like his last two starts at the Stadium.
