So if it's not cool to call 1 player trash, what's your opinion on calling everything Yankees, or any organization for that matter, trash? Just illustrating my point. Don't let your blind hatred for a team make you seem like a 7 year old sore loser who has his panties in a twist. (not directed at you kilo)

Like I said earlier, there are Yankees that I respect because the play the game the right way.

Matsui, Bernie, Mo, and Wang would all fit into this category. There are players on your team that I don't like or even respect, however, just as there are players on the Sox you clearly don't like.

After '04, I don't see how anyone could like ARod. I don't respect Giambi. I don't respect Damon. But I guess it just comes with the territory.

The A-Rod fight. Except that I don't think she realizes just how bad he feels about it. He apologized many times for setting a bad example and being a poor role model. He's a classy, stand up guy if anything. He stood up for his pitcher, and got into a fight which he feels bad about. Oh well.

I don't exactly understand how he could be classified as "trash."

Bingo.

Like I said, he refuses to sign pictures of that incident to this day.

I don't really have any problems with Varitek. I think the fight was an unfortunate incident, that's not a reflection on him as a whole.

I hate the Yankees. I really really do. But, I've gotta say, they've become a lot harder of a team to hate over the past couple of years. For a while, the Yankees were the main team that was going out and signing huge free agents and building their teams through trades that lacked loyalty to anyone and everyone. This, however, is the nature of baseball now. The Yankees used to not have any homegrown talent, and the arguement was used that they "bought" their team and their championships. This can't be used anymore, because the Yanks actually have more than a lot of teams, and as it turns out, were just ahead of their time when it came to the deals and the big time free agents.

The Yankes were a lot easier to hate when they featured guys like Steve "Sniffffffffff" Howe and Darryl "Snifffffffffff" Strawberry and Wade "I'd Sell My Mother If The Price Were Right" Boggs...

When it comes to guys like Jeter, Posada, Bernie, Mo, etc...I dislike them because of the uniform that they wear. They're guilty by assosciation so to speak.

Hell, I even like ARod. I think there's something to be said for a guy who was willing to take a huge paycut to come and play for a potential contender. We forget that it was the Player's Union that vetoed the deal to bring him to Boston, not ARod himself. Yea, I didn't like the Tek fight. But emotions run high in baseball and you can't judge a guy by one incident. Disliking guys like Carl Everett, Milton Bradley, Jose Guillen, Barry Bonds...these guys are f***-off's as a whole, not just an isolated incident. These are the guys to dislike.

I hate Jason Giambi and Gary Sheffield for there steroid use.

I don't care for A-Rod because of his "me-first" attitude.

I'm sick of Mariano Rivera always crying on the mound when a team scores a run against him (relax Mo we all know you are good).

I'm tired of seeing Randy Johnson always looking in at the umpire when he doesn't give him a strike on every pitch.

I hate seeing Robinson Cano on top of the All-Star voting for 2nd base.

I hate seeing Johnny Damon on top of the All-Star voting for CF (has anyone seen Vernon Wells play this year?)

So its safe to say I hate the Yankees

i dunno pinstripe

maybe because most of us would rather be in traction with ruptured testicles than see the yankees win ??

just a thought

hey..arod got a couple hits this weekend that mattered for a change

washingtons been on fire, the yanks have been decimated with injury and theyre still in the hunt for october

despite their pitching staff making the word ""suck"" sound complimentary

I guess I underestimate exactly just how much energy Red Sox fans exert on hating the Yankees. Oh well.

Well I didn't realize that Varitek felt bad about the fight at all. So that's my bad, and I just said the second person to come into my mind because I wanted to list a couple players, not realizing the only player on the Sox I have any reason to dislike is Schilling.

But just like you don't understand how he could be considered trash (and he's not, I'll take back what I said I was wrong), I don't understand how anyone could call everything Yankees trash. Don't try to explain it, I will never understand why someone can't just appreciate and respect an organization. It's plain ignorant.

And that was a pretty good post, HeadOfSoxNation

Fair Enough.

I don't care for A-Rod because of his "me-first" attitude.

What "me-first" attitude? He was going to take a paycut to go play in Boston, and he switched positions to come play for the Yankees. He always takes responsibility for his failures, never blames anybody else for anything, and goes out and does his best. You have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm sick of Mariano Rivera always crying on the mound when a team scores a run against him (relax Mo we all know you are good).

Should he jump in jubilation when a team scores against him? I mean s***, I respect that he gets upset when he fails. That motivates him to succeed.

I'm tired of seeing Randy Johnson always looking in at the umpire when he doesn't give him a strike on every pitch.

Whatever. Thats not that big a deal. But fair enough I guess.

I hate seeing Robinson Cano on top of the All-Star voting for 2nd base.

He's far and away the most deserving. Offensively he has been way better than any other second baseman. And he's played a solid defensive second base as well.

I hate seeing Johnny Damon on top of the All-Star voting for CF (has anyone seen Vernon Wells play this year?)

If he was playing in Boston this year would you care that he is atop the list and not Wells? Probably not.

So its safe to say I hate the Yankees

Appearantly.

As for the Varitek "trash" thing, I totally disagree. I would love to have a player like Varitek. Hard nosed, gritty, plays hard, etc.

Dont mean to get off topic, but I just want to mention how shocked I was when Jose Veras got called up. Wow. When we signed him I never thought I would see him here. Hope he does good.

Far and away? Way better? I don't know about that.

I'm on the other side of this rivalry, but I don't call everything Red Sox trash. Schilling is trash. Varitek is trash. But Wakefield, he's not trash. Neither is Papelbon or Ortiz. But hey, I guess you have a right to your own opinions, however close-minded they may be.
I really don't care what you think about the Red Sox players. IMO, everything in pinstripes from the players to the coaches to the ballboys is trash. Their stadium is a toilet, and their fans are the most obnoxious in all of sports.

All of us dont just vote for Sox players at each position on the ballot. I havent seen 1 post on here saying that Varitek deserves to be the leading vote getter. True he's picked it up, but he's been at the top even at the time when he had a .220 avg

Screw the All-Star game, there shouldn't be any arguments about who makes it or not. Probably half the voters are like 7 year olds.

Red Sox fans hate the Yankees

Yankees fans hate the Red Sox

Nothing new, I new that before I watched my first game.

Personally, I don't get broken up when I hear a Sox fan, or any other fan say Mo sucks, or Jeter, or A-Rod or whoever, because I expect them to. I don't like Ortiz, but does that mean I don't feel bad when he is the sole reason for a loss? Yes. Why wouldn't I, thats the beauty of baseball, you love your team, you hate the rest. Of course theres the respectable fans who just love the game, they don't care about who sucks and who rules, but whos at bat, and whos pitching. Thats the kinda fan who will say "Yea, we beat up Mo today, but it won't happen often, so we shouldn't expect it a lot." over "He sucks, we own him!". But I don't care either way, thats your perspective on the game. Theres people who hate the past and love the future, and then theres people who perfer the past of baseball to the present(like me), but thats just how you take the game, and really, theres no point in trying to sway the other players view on how they take the game.

Great defensive play he made tonight. Was that throw straight into the dugout or did it bounce before it got there?

How many second baseman in contention for the all star game have no errors?

What don't you get?

And yeah you are pretty much right Red. Speaking of Red Ruffing, they were talking about him on the YES Network broadcast, I dunno if you caught that.

I guess I meant as a whole, they hate the Yankees, and then screwed up my point by saying some red sox, I'll change that

I kind of agree with it the way you had it first, well I do and I don't. The stereotype is that Sox fans hate the Yankees more than the other way around, making it fitting that while Yankee fans hate some aspects of the Red Sox, the Red Sox fans just hate everything Yankees. And while a700hitter is the epitome of this stereotype, I realize that it is just that, a stereotype. (Damn do you think I could have used the word stereotype again?)

I cannot wait until this thread is renamed "2nd Place Cafe" again...though the way the Yankees are playing, the Jays may pass them and it may be more appropriate to name it...."3rd Place Nook".
