  1. Do you have a quota on how many times a day you write 'cheapskate'?
  2. I would take that, but it depends on whether the Mets are prioritizing efficient or effectiveness. If they just want the most wins, this is a good move for them. But the Hicks contract will cost them $43M with the CBT. If they want some efficiency, they could add Tong instead of paying for Hicks.
  3. Any thought to Paredes at 2nd and Mayer at 3rd? On paper, Paredes grades out similarly at both positions. If that was the case, and assuming 3B is Mayer's long-term position, better to get him settled there.
  4. One might consider 3B a decade-long problem since we had a DH there. Regardless, we can only solve the problems in front of us, barring the acquisition of a DeLorean (yes, Fred, we know JH is too cheap to buy one).
  5. Even as a RW moderate, I disagree with his actions. One can agree/disagree with CK without taking a day off. That said, I wouldn't expect his politics to be an issue with his teammates.
  6. He is very unlikely to be caught during his lifetime.
  7. That was in reference to us pursuing Suarez. Trying to keep Houston from squeezing us on Paredes.
  8. I like Baty, but another lefty? For the right price, I'm a fan of picking up value and blaming the manager if he can't sort it out. But the lefty thing is a negative.
  9. The only reason I mention it is because they have 8 SPs on the 40. And 3 of them are just starting their careers. It's possible that they want to reduce their risk. Even with the 8 SPs on the 40, Peterson, Tong, and Manaea got hammered in September, and Senga & Megill were in the minors. Just really messy. I would start the kids, but I'm guessing that Cohen is looking for more immediate results.
  10. I would at least make a call about Sean Murphy. He's not nearly the player he once was, but at $15M, he's cheap. Something along the line of Bello + salary relief would be interesting. Needs to clear some in-depth medicals with his history.
  11. That's the first thing I thought of. Even if you're 90% sure it is a bluff, you still have to give a 10% weight in your discussion.
  12. Is it only 5 years? He has 162 days of service time. Past that, if I thought his 2025 stats were legit (3% EV), I'd trade Bello for him.
  13. Interesting target. I had him at times on my fantasy teams. Nice stats, but only 3% in EV at 84.9, and only 16% in bat speed. There are stats that need to be considered, but those two stood out. If I thought his floor was the .690 that he had last year, I'd be glad to pay up.
  14. It depends on our assessment of the Astros. Even with his K-issues, I doubt they trade Matthews. But we could arrange it, it is entirely possible he could our starting 2B as soon as 2026.
  15. While our alignment favors us adding a 3B, there is a definite logic to making Mayer our 3B and never changing.
  16. That's part of the package with guys that don't move.
  17. So the commitment to winning revolves around Breslow signing guys that you like?
  18. At the same number of ABs, Paredes will have a higher fWAR than Alonso. FG 2026 WAR/650 PAs Alonso = 2.87 and Paredes = 2.94. Schwarber is slightly better at 3.29. Over the past three seasons, Paredes has a higher fWAR than either of those two guys. You under-estimate defensive position value.
  19. Kimmi going to yell at me, given the usual 'you can't have too much pitching'. which is almost always correct. But just for fun, without a lot of faith (projection warning), FG projects: Bello 4.39 Oviedo 4.25 Sandoval 3.81 Crawford 4.14 Tolle 3.91 Early 3.54 He feels replaceable.
  20. 100%. There is almost no chance that two SPs are that good in ST that they can both claim a rotation role. He'll start or be traded.
  21. They won't make Mayer and Campbell bench players. Campbell needs to play fulltime, and almost definitely in AAA. I think, maybe, that we get Suarez or Paredes, but I'd bet on Mayer starting.
  22. The Mets are all over the place. I have no idea what they are doing. I trust Stearns, but right now, the NYM only have 16 position players on the 40-man roster. I think 8 of them are infielders and 3 are catchers. Their #2 outfielder is Tyrone Taylor. It's early, but they need two more outfielders. And unlike the Astros, the NYM are in win-now mode. My suggestions: Yoshida for Semien. I'm not sure Yoshida moves the needle for the Mets, but at least he owns an OF glove. This assumes they play Bo at 2nd. Duran for McLean. He's not in the Chandler/Burns level, but still pretty much top-shelf. And this would allow us to include one of our pitchers in a trade. TBH, I don't think the NYMs do either one, but they've dug themselves a hole.
  23. Add Matthews, Neyens or Janek and I'm probably good.
  24. Just imho, I think we have guys that can do most of what Bello does. Can Bello out-perform Sandoval, Oviedo, Tolle & Early by more than, say Paredes will out-perform Romy/DHam?
