  1. Joe Madden was right when he said some of the analytics boys should come down to the dugout sometime to see what really goes on, and not just sit at a computer.
  2. How do the analytics departments value the good ole small ball like hit, and run, bunting, and stolen bases?
  3. All this big influx of shift movement was analytics driven. Going up 50,000 shifts in a ten year period to boot. Bringing Paul Blair in on the IF dirt would be the same comparison not if he was deep, or shallow. As far as I can figure the 2B can go over, and stand next to the 1B if he wanted to, but their spikes have to be in the IF dirt.
  4. Not quite the same thing. It’s like someone here in a earlier discussion that said guarding the 1st and 3rd base line was like the shift. No that’s not either. I love the ban. Congrats for MLB for doing it.
  5. To me the best thing about the rules changes is to get some control back from the geeks, and nerds, and banning the shift. Yes I know the shift has been around for over 100 years, but when shifts go up 50,000 in a ten year period that is to me analytical driven. If you want to watch 4 OF, or someone in short RF, which Story plays often then go watch softball. I’m all in 100% for all the rules changes.
  6. 3-6 10 3 games under 500 6 games back in the L column for last place in the Div. 10 games back in the L column for the last Wild Card spot. Won’t get to 500. Will end up in last place in the Div. Will not make the playoffs. Playoffs?Did someone say playoffs? Put a fork ‘em. They’re done!
  7. + side of 40.
  8. Some cities would love to have a team like Tampa, but no one shows up to watch them either. Near the bottom in attendance in all MLB.
  9. Get rid of all of them.
  10. That’s what I figured.
  11. How come you stoped at 14, and didn’t go 15 years?
  12. Actual attendance is down, and so is NESN ratings.
  13. John Henry’s rabbit ears would tell you that you are wrong.
  14. At the time I said to trade Bogey I wasn’t aware that his no trade had kicked in, but I feel the same way, and that goes for Raffy too. I don’t know what Bogey has, or will ask for, but if the last lowball offer to Bogey is the only one then JH will get crucified. Same with Raffy. If Wong turns out then the trade won’t look as bad as it did.
  15. Some of those crybaby fans shell out big bucks to go to Fenway, and to me they have more of a right to do so then those who don’t. I myself don’t mind being called a crybaby fan.
  16. You can BS all you want, but how has the Nation put up with this year?
  17. I’m fine with Story at 2B too, but if the new shift rules are put in next year Story won’t be playing out in short RF so much, and might be more valuable at SS if Bogey leaves.
  18. The payroll difference is well known, and has been for years, but the Boston fan base would not put up with what Tampa’s scant fan base would.
  19. If Paxton was picked up along with QO to Nate, and Evol that would tie up around $50M. I agree with Wacha over Nate.
  20. I would really like to see a upgrade from Pham in the OF.
  21. It was good seeing Kelly loose his first game also. He’s gong to find the sledding a lot tougher in the SEC, and at LSU.
  22. Ian Book turned out pretty well, but I don’t think he was so highly rated going in.
  23. I’m not so sure that Bloom didn’t try to get rid of Evol, and JD, but there might not of been much a demand for either one, and as it has turned out that demand would have been right.
  24. A big difference in Ray’s way is the fan base. Did you see all those empty seats masquerading as fans yesterday? What you can get away with in Tampa might not go over so well in Boston. Especially with the amount of money the diehards shell out to go watch a game at Fenway.
  25. Most years you don’t need lots of minor league depth, but this year was not like most years.
