  1. The current starting catchers are nothing, but backups.
  2. Well said. Bloom may have been hired to find gems in the rough, but that should be down on the list of priorities. Keeping the Red Sox to be a competitive, winning team that gets into the postseason every year should be #1 on his list, and how he gets, and keeps the Red Sox there is the problem. Retaining homegrown players, trades, FA signings,, and production from the farm should all be a piece of the solution.
  3. I still believe the late signing of Story was, because of JH rabbit ears, and Nothing else. Letting Bogey get to FA was a bad move all the way around, and a more costly one. Same with the Yankees, and Judge.
  4. The worst part to me that even for the Red Sox own players Evol, Bogey, and Raffy Bloom won’t win any bidding wars let alone others on the market. The nightmare on the Old Yawkey Way might just turn out to be the real thing.
  5. Having Bloom in charge is just not a comforting feeling to me. I can’t see the Red Sox outbidding other teams for anyone either.
  6. Sad, bad, and probably true.
  7. Agree, and I’m not big on the Bobby D/ Hosmer combo except that they’re cheap.
  8. Agree, but you would rather have Abreu, or Bobby D/ Hosmer as the DH?
  9. Looks like a 3 yr deal. Not worth it to me. Somewhere around $50M.
  10. Well said, and taking Whitlock out of the pen has already weakened the bullpen further. Lots of hope penning Houck can be a consistent closer, and Schreiber to duplicate last year, and then there is Barnes, and Barnes is anyones guess on what he will be.
  11. Oops missed on Tenn St, but what a messed up schedule with 5 home games in a row, and 5 away games in a row.
  12. The 2023 schedule has Tenn, Ohio St, and at Clemson just to name a few.
  13. Notre Dame once again outclassed by a good team, and program. Finished 8-4, which is about what I expected winning a couple of games like Clemson that I didn’t think they would win, and losing to teams like Marshall at home that I thought they would win. Things don’t get any easier, and maybe even tougher next year with the schedule, so I see about the same record for next year.
  14. Mayer was passed over 3 times, so Bloom had a pretty easy decision to make, because of it. The big question left is what Bloom would have done if Mayer hadn’t been there. It is quite possible that Bloom can’t get things done in Boston, which would be bad all the way around.
  15. And like I keep repeating Sam Kennedy said Bloom, and the rest of management all failed, and he didn’t list all kinds of excuses that run rampant on here.
  16. The laudable record of DD in Boston got him fired, but the track record, or should I say bad track record of Bloom in Boston gets him applauded.
  17. Making that part up? I know what that part is all about, because someone on here said I hated Cora once, and just because I didn’t like of his cheating scandal, which I also said I wouldn’t have hired the cigar smoker with the Celtics, or the guy who wears the hoodie with the Pats, and I loved Red, so lots of guilty parties of making things up, so let’s call them all out.
  18. Why does the hater word have to come out when someone like Bloom is criticized? Seems a little over the top to me.
  19. Exactly! Results matter.
  20. Struck some nerves, and it never takes much at all. Imagine if you give Bloom any criticism at all you are a hater, but when you PBA at the drop of a hat you’re not a lover. Only on here would you get logic like that.
  21. One thing I like about this forum is how posters are encouraged to voice their opinions even if it doesn’t match other posters opinions. I know I’ve been encouraged in the past, and still feel encouraged every day now.
  22. To an objective observer his observation would be spot on no doubt.
  23. nwtt.
  24. Well said. I was against the Bloom signing on day 1, and the small sample size that this forum is is mostly pro Bloom, and have been since day 1. The here, and now, and the results is what matters most to me, but everyone is entitled to their opinions even if it takes a few years down the road to get good results, or if they never materialize.
  25. I agree, and while most on here are assuming if Bogey is not resigned they will grab one of the other high priced SS, and I’m not thinking that way. I can’t see the Red Sox spending more money on a SS then they are willing to go for Bogey, and that includes Correa.
