  1. Who isn’t giving him a chance? It was just a simple question of an early impression, and nothing more than that, so don’t try to make it so.
  2. In the NBA you just can’t stand in the lane on Defense either.
  3. How is that in analytics speak?
  4. You said in past discussions that guarding the 3rd, and 1st base lines by the 3B, and 1B was the same as the shift. Not even close to the same thing, and way off base. The shift is done after this year, so complain all you want. You know the chant! IT’S ALL OVER. MLB I believe got this one right.
  5. Not at all it’s way to early even if he had 5 HR, and was hitting 400 already I would say the same thing, but you know my saying that until a prospect produces in a Red Sox uniform what they did on the farm doesn’t mean a thing.
  6. I was with you on the No tanking, or fire sale, which to me should never happen in Boston with fans having to pay such high ticket prices that all the ones on here who did want a fire sale probably don’t do.
  7. In football, and basketball something could be called on pretty much every play. Just like on here every one sees things differently, and interprets different views.
  8. Early yes, but hyped up for 2 years now.
  9. A team with this payroll, and with this record. Only in Boston?
  10. Refs are bad in football. Refs are bad in basketball, and umps are bad calling strikes in baseball, which is just the human nature, and yes players can be bad as well.
  11. Early, early, early opinions on Casas so far?
  12. No it is not Ort’s fault he was brought into the game, or on the team for that matter that is on Cora, and Bloom, but it is Ort’s fault that he just plain sucks.
  13. 5-7-11 5 games from 500 7 games in the L column from LAST PLACE in the Div. 11 games in the L column from the LAST Wild Card Spot These numbers keep getting bigger, bigger, and bigger, and yet No one has lost their job. Unbelievable!
  14. I’m sure MLB has heard lots of negative feedback on the subject, and they wouldn’t be doing it otherwise.
  15. That too!
  16. I think he was talking about the way the game is played, and not the results the Red Sox have had the last 20 years.
  17. That I agree with 100%.
  18. I understand all your points, but it’s over, and the shift will no longer be. Now you can do what I’ve been doing for a few years now. Which is watch the shift in games, and complain about it, or not watch at all. Now the shoe is on the other foot, so next year it will be watch with no shift, and complain about it, or not watch at all.
  19. Joe Madden was right when he said some of the analytics boys should come down to the dugout sometime to see what really goes on, and not just sit at a computer.
  20. How do the analytics departments value the good ole small ball like hit, and run, bunting, and stolen bases?
  21. All this big influx of shift movement was analytics driven. Going up 50,000 shifts in a ten year period to boot. Bringing Paul Blair in on the IF dirt would be the same comparison not if he was deep, or shallow. As far as I can figure the 2B can go over, and stand next to the 1B if he wanted to, but their spikes have to be in the IF dirt.
  22. Not quite the same thing. It’s like someone here in a earlier discussion that said guarding the 1st and 3rd base line was like the shift. No that’s not either. I love the ban. Congrats for MLB for doing it.
  23. To me the best thing about the rules changes is to get some control back from the geeks, and nerds, and banning the shift. Yes I know the shift has been around for over 100 years, but when shifts go up 50,000 in a ten year period that is to me analytical driven. If you want to watch 4 OF, or someone in short RF, which Story plays often then go watch softball. I’m all in 100% for all the rules changes.
  24. 3-6 10 3 games under 500 6 games back in the L column for last place in the Div. 10 games back in the L column for the last Wild Card spot. Won’t get to 500. Will end up in last place in the Div. Will not make the playoffs. Playoffs?Did someone say playoffs? Put a fork ‘em. They’re done!
  25. + side of 40.
