Beni is still doing it. That’s not conjecture. This signing of Yoshida could be the fatal blow to Bloom if things don’t work out, and the Red Sox stay in the toilet this year, and yes that’s a jab at Bloom.
I think he willing to take that risk. The Red Sox had their chance, and I don’t think that chance is there any longer. He’s watched how they treated Bogey, and how he’s been treated himself since last offseason, and I think that matters.
The big difference on the conjecture with Beni is he’s proven it in the Major Leagues, and Yoshida hasn’t proven a thing yet, and that’s a fact. Now if you want to say it’s conjecture on Yoshida, and nothing else then I’ll agree.
,
I keep hearing how much money the Red Sox have to spend on here, but I haven’t heard one word from the Red Sox on what they expect the payroll to be next year. They might not spend what the expectations are on here
I still don’t see why Raffy would want to resign in Boston. He’s going to get his money no matter where he goes now. Bogey is gone, and it doesn’t look like the Red Sox are trying to get much better at least in the short term no matter what story Bloom told to Kike. I’m sure there will be better teams than Boston who will want his services., and will pay more than Boston too.
First of all I don’t believe the Red Sox won the Beni trade for Franchy Strangeglove, and Stinkin Winkin. Yoshida hasn’t done anything, or proven anything in the Majors yet, and the next 5 years will show who’s better now. To say the Red Sox made the right choice is based on what?
I don’t believe it is ever foolish to go for pitching. You never have to much, and most times don’t have enough.Yoshida would have filled a bigger need if he was a RF with some power. I think Story is the SS, and then it becomes a question if you want to go with Kike, or Arroyo at 2B. Even then more parts are needed.
Wouldn’t you try to fill the hole first? Both contracts you are taking a chance on. If the Red Sox had signed Senga I would have said the same thing, but the Mets signed him, and money is no object to them. With the Red Sox it’s a different story is it not?
My big question is why should Raffy want to resign with the Red Sox at all if they are going through a 5 yr rebuild, reset, cliff not going all in, or whatever else you want to call it?
It’s just my opinion, so I don’t see why it should cause such a stir. I get everything point you are making, but I would have rather spent the money on Senga if the Red Sox were going to chance on someone, which to me would have been a bigger need.
I thought the Martin signing, and the Jansen signing were good signings. Maybe a year to late, but still a good signing. They did not cost $100M+ either. My opinion is just that they have overpaid for someone unproven in ML baseball. It’s just my opinion popular, or not on here.
Now I’ll admit I may be biased in my opinion on the signing, but I saw a picture of Bloom, Kennedy, and Boris in it, and that is something I just don’t care to watch, but thanks anyways.
