  1. If they buy him out they pay him $11M in 2026, and $10M for the buyout whenever that is. $21M total no matter how you want to look at it. If they pick up the option it’s $11M this year, and $30M next year for a total of $41M. Its really just that simple, and nothing more to it. I disagree 100% they pick up his $30M OPTION next year.
  2. He has to stay healthy, and hit LHP first, and foremost, which both are big ifs. Merloni?🤭
  3. Maybe even doing a little addition at the trade deadline would have been something.
  4. BTV is never the other team, so it would all depend what they would want in any trade with the Red Sox, so would another team see Duran, or Abreu as a better player, and fit for them.
  5. Total yes, but this would be $11M this year, and $10M next year, so not quite the same as a 1 yr deal.
  6. Opt-out after second year.
  7. I was shocked they give Ranger a 5 yr contract for as much as they did, and would be more shocked if they picked up a option for $30M saving themselves $20M.
  8. I NEVER SAID there was a $40M difference.🤔
  9. Tucker to the DODGERS! Another great signing.
  10. Huh? This isn’t that hard at all. The Red Sox are paying Gray $11M this year. If they they have to pay the mutual option next year that’s $30M more for a total of $41M. If they don’t have to pay the $30M mutual option then it becomes $10, which adds up to $21 M, which is a difference of $20M. If you just count next year it’s still $30M vs $10M, which is still a $20M difference.🤭
  11. Speaking of $20M do you think the Red Sox would have made the trade for Gray in the first place if St. Louis hadn’t of thrown in $20M? I don’t.
  12. If they pick up the option that would make it paying Gray $41M vs $21M if they don’t, which is still a difference of $20M.
  13. Just $20M? I’ve read so much on here of the Red Sox shedding some contracts to lower payroll, and now $20M is just $20M.
  14. No problem, but even if Gray pitches well this year I’d be hard pressed to believe Boston would pay him $30M next year.
  15. My understanding is that the Red Sox are on the hook for a total of $21M of guaranteed money. $11M for this year, and the buyout that went up to $10M, because of the trade.
  16. Isn’t the $30M a mutual option?
  17. I don’t think Story would pout either.
  18. Not if you’re the highest bidder with no strings attached. Bloom didn’t have any trouble landing Masa either. Highest bidder by far with no strings. Most times that’s all it takes.
  19. I think the negotiation tactic by Brez had a hand in how it turned out as well, but either way I wouldn’t have given Bregman 5 years anyway.
  20. Do you think DD would have landed Bregman if Bregman was plan A during the offseason like he was this year?
  21. TW is just someone who they pull out of the shadows every now, and then, and then he goes back in. You looked too much into it from someone who probably doesn’t have any knowledge or let alone say in what the Red Sox do on the field on a daily basis.
  22. I wouldn’t call TW one of his minions, and that’s who said it. I don’t think he meant any more of it than when he led the Let’s Go Red Sox chant. That statement didn’t bother me at all unlike what Sam spews out on a yearly basis when he says it’s the Red Sox goal to play into October every year.
  23. I wouldn’t sign BO for 6+ years either. The two guys that could have filled the power need went early in Flintstone, and Alonso.
  24. I don’t think if other teams want Duran it would be because of his Butterfly Man ability in the OF.
