I agree with this, but despite all of Raffy’s shortcomings the Red Sox still signed Raffy to a long term contract, and told him he’d be the 3B for the foreseeable future. What complicated things was Raffy actually thinking he was a good 3B.
SF already have a pretty good 3B, so Devers wasn’t going to play 3B there anyway, Suggestions, opinions, and predictions oh my. Can all be good, bad, right, or wrong, and some can even come to fruition, and then again they won’t, or don’t.
You guys throw out all these suggestions that Bloom, and Cora obviously didn’t do, so I wonder why they didn’t see it that way. They were either bad ideas, or especially Cora must be really incompetent.
I don’t think Cora has a loyalty issue at all. What you may think is a better option like Raffy at 1B, which I disagree with, and I think Cora saw it the same way. I never have believed Cora didn’t talk to Raffy about it, because of loyalty. No I wouldn’t have put Bogey at 2B either for Story, and Cora didn’t do it either, and I don’t think Cora was worried about rocking any boat. What backfired about Raffy is not having his bat in the lineup, and now NO Bregman either, so we agree on a backfire. I’ll finish on this that I’m not even a big Cora fan just like I was never a Devers Forevers guy.👋
No he couldn’t have just handed Bo a blank check. Brez bungled the whole Raffy situation for a one year rental, and then he bungled the whole Bregman situation this year who was the Red Sox PLAN A. Just throw In Anthony too for Marte, and make it a real fabrication.
I have no doubt whatsoever that Brez misjudged things with Bregman. I wouldn’t have signed Bregman for 5 years anyways. Now we’ll just have to wait, and see if signing Ranger to 5 years was a good idea, and how it works out.
Yes most likely the Sox had previously had discussions on Ranger, but I’m still puzzled that by all accounts Bregman was the Red Sox top priority this offseason why they gave Ranger more PDV than what they offered Bregman.
You could be right on that, and only time will tell. Ranger to me was just a fallback for not signing the PLAN A Bregman. BorASS did say the deal for Ranger came together pretty quickly after the Sox lost out on Bregman.
A good deal for Ranger no doubt, but as I asked before was this the right pitcher to go 5 years on for that money? The Mets from what I can tell have deferred $70M on Bregman, and it appears the Red Sox wanted to defer even more money than that for Bregman' but yet they offered Ranger more PDV.🤔
It all depends if their #1 options would have made the team better. Would the Red Sox be better with Alonso, and Bregman instead of Con Man, and the Lone Ranger? ONLY time will tell what these 4 players do this year.
You do have a point on this point. The Red Sox settled for Con Man instead of Alonso. The Red SOX were outbid by the high spending Baltimore Orioles. Then they couldn’t land their #1 Plan A option in Bregman, and then they went out, and as BorASS said the Ranger deal come together quickly after losing Bregman to the Cubs. Yes they ended up paying Ranger more PDV than they offered Bregman, but that was after the fact. Gray, and Con Man came with payments from Bloom, which the Red SOX might not of done otherwise especially Gray, so yes they ended up Red Sox will spend money, but not on their first choice. Think the lack of action at the trade deadline has anything to do with money?
I all depends on what is meant by cheap. It does seem though that the Red Sox are usually talking cheaper options just like Con Man instead of Alonso, and Ranger instead of Bregman this year. Bregman was plan A was he not?
The funny part is whether you say you are not apologizing, or defending JH you really are just like you did with Bloom no matter how many times you say you are not. There is nothing wrong with that, so I don’t know why you try so hard to deny it,🙈
That was the theory that Story wore down at the end of the season. I don’t think they think Mayer is ready yet to play a FT SS. Story on the other hand wouldn’t have the range he did the last time he played 2B, because he wouldn’t be able to play short RF like he did before they changed the shift rules.
I thought you had given up on trying to get rid of Hicks, and Masa? Pipe dreams. I know you don’t make suggestions to try to get them right, but GGMM.🤭
Pressure BorASS? It seems like the first offer to Bregman was not to his liking at all, and he was a little perturbed at Brez, and it stayed that way until the end when the Red Sox upped their offer, which was to late, and not good enough anyway" like I mentioned before the Red Sox offer to Ranger PDV was higher than Bregman’s. Bregman was plan A, and Brez botched it from the beginning IMO.
