  1. In the spirit of the Bad News Bears, Jackie should adopt the nickname, Bad Luck Bradley. Would be nice for him to break out.
  2. Sarcasm, one more service provided for free.
  3. This bulletin just in from Pawtucket : (Caution-SSS) Sandy Leon is hitting .133 ; OPS .321 with 2 singles in 15 SB's. Juan Centeno in very limited action is 4 for 6 , all singles. So nothing much to indicate a turnaround by millionaire Leon. FWIW, (not much) Bryce Brentz is also 1 for 12 putting little pressure on Beni or Betts to get hot. On the other hand Mike Miller at SS is cranking up the volume at 7 for 18 (.389), with 2 doubles and a HR. What's that you say, we just signed a SS to a long extension ? Oh well another flameout at the AAA level. Honestly, a young developing prospect at Pawtucket has got to be discouraged when they look at the MLB team openings. I don't think Tzu Wei Lin will be the long term answer at second, and Sam Travis has not shown any breakthrough ability at first. Be nice to get a starting pitcher , Mike Sharwyn is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA over 11 innings and a 1.06 WHIP
  4. I would also pay the price of a trade off, but don't think it will be necessary. The old reversion to the mean (barring injury) will kick in at some point. Look at it again at the end of May , when 2/3rds of the season +- remain. There are certainly some position players/hitters who are asleep right now compared to their talent levels. These guys need to come around. The starting pitching is inexplicable but the bullpen hasn't imploded. Having said that Brewer gave up the winning run on 3 hits in the 9th in AZ, yesterday's performance in tough conditions was not good allowing runs following the Sox scores. Catching ? Who knows if it is a factor. Hopefully AC does.
  5. 2 solo HR's and 1 for 9 W/RISP.
  6. Beni, Blake and Betts .
  7. now time for Beni to show up. Blake needs an unbroken bat next time
  8. Very glad to see some discipline and patience by JBJr. There is hope yet if Blake can get a hit
  9. Nice hit by Pedey. Glad for him and hope it gets the team rolling in the 9th
  10. Pretty weird day between Vazquez and the pitchers: Passed ball, wild pitches, stolen bases including home . Way out of synch, and hurting multiple comeback attempts. 9th inning will be Pedey, Bradley, Vaz ? Maybe Pearce or Swihart squeezes in there
  11. If the Sox can still pull this out, it will need to start with Betts again. JDM can feel free to participate as well.
  12. After all, it was the BP that was maligned all off season and ST , giving them something to prove, so they have the motivation to do well. The other guys won 108 plus 11 more through the WS. What's to prove?
  13. I think that ranges from the Spring Training approach, to the relief pitcher slow walk, to the players who now have the hardware to go along with the checks and a couple nice extensions. Are hangovers real? Results in several sports would indicate yes.
  14. Anybody notice the Red Sox "batboy ? Looks about 35 yrs old, 6'-0", 250 lbs. ?
  15. Hudson got a geberous strike zone from an umpire who wants to go inside at the earliest opportunity
  16. Even after Hembree's 2 out walk, not sure why going to Workman on a cold day was a better idea. Relies on curve balls, not much of a fastball
  17. 2 out walks by Hembree and Workman . The usual kiss of death strikes again as Workman surrenders the run
  18. Finally a bit of luck to tighten up this game. Now a home run would completely turn the day around, or a double, or single or another error. Whatever Not to be. Now Pedey has left , in effect, 6 LOB's. He will have to play his way back to baseball speed.
  19. tough to watch both Moreland and JDM hit lasers to the warning track for outs while the Blue Jays bleed runs through the infield.
  20. he's now on the Chris Davis watch list as he goes 0 for two seasons, leaving a lot of men on base. Tough day to come back from a long, long layoff at this level. For all we know he may get the gamewinner in the bottom 9th.
  21. Sign behind home plate says "Kids Eat Free When Red Sox Win" The children of Boston look to be going to bed without supper so far, but it's still early and not over until its over. 27 outs can be tough to get.
  22. Sale looks disoriented and probably focusing on the cheap hits and base running, loses his cool and command. Did he screw up Vazquez on the change up vs slider or did Christian forget what he called??
  23. Really poor play by this battery.
  24. You are pounding Pedroia on this, and i could be wrong, but I believe the Jays sent the runner as on a steal attempt. With a RH batter up, usually the 2Bman covers second. That's what I saw. Classic hit/run set up to clear the 2B hole. But Pedroia did get the DP when he was batting, so there's that
  25. Truly perplexing and a total anomaly that all 5 would be so wildly off their normal game. The consistency does give some credence to the discussion about the ST time on the mound. Even then, this is one hard one to explain. It will be worth rechecking after the 6 game homestand, where weather may be a factor in overall performances.
