Trying not to get real concerned about this particular 4 games since there are still 24 more games including Angels and Royals after Sunday. I am thinking that although pretty late in the season, the roster and lineups may look different after this weekend in a few key spots ( LF, SS, Bullpen) Some of the players who got the Red Sox back in the race and well into the WC mix, will have to be cut adrift .

Under the MLB CBA a position player is allowed up to 20 days ( not games) to return to active status. A pitcher may rehab up to 30 days, with further exceptions for TJS recovery. So Story should be able to be held back until at least September 1, helping with the roster jam -
Regrettably the answer is no. If Mickey could maintain the .789 level over the rest of August and September it would be an excellent run for him and the Sox. At his age , if Gasper could have hit consistently well, he would have had a FT job long ago. For now, just enjoy a guy who has kept the team in a couple games they went on to win. Some notable others in the lineup did not do the same.
