  1. For all the joking about Grissom's extended absence from the active roster, we should see a notable improvement at 2B and the plate that can only help the pitchers maintain their current run of success.
  2. Wong catching vs a RH pitcher with a breaking slider ? Interesting , but I'm taking the over on 2 K's .
  3. You have got to stop with the Grissom report. There is no direct evidence he actually exists. When, if, he materializes , we can judge him on his merits or demerits. Will that happen this week ?
  4. Win the series first, then make the opposition cry. Don't tempt fate.
  5. Wong has a lot of trouble with that type pitch also. I'm guessing McGuire is the catcher today
  6. On this 40 man roster, you don't have to look too closely to get 2 or 3 who could be supplanted by anyone with a -0.0- WAR, b or f.
  7. Hayden Wesneski is the Cubs new choice as the starter today . RH bat killer from his stats now shown in the OP
  8. Jordan Wicks going for Cubs. Very mid-range LH'er , who should be hittable, 4.70 ERA/ 1.52 WHIP. He has averaged 4.6 innings in his 5 starts so far. WRONG!!! This bulletin just in: Cubs now will start Hayden Wesneski , RH'er, who sports a 0.00 ERA and 0.18 WHIP after 2 starts, totalling 6.1 innings. Sox will have work to do For the Sox, the closest pitcher to an ACE this year, Tanner Houck. If Tanner can be on his A game and get some run support plus good defense, the Red Sox should take the series. I guarantee someone will be begging to use a portion of the 17 runs on Saturday to get the win on Sunday The streak is alive until further notice.
  9. So, the Red Sox have locked up a minimum of a .500 record, with room for 2 more wins, in April. They have survived, so far, a ruinous string of injuries , marginal defense and odd runs of hitting/no hitting . But pitching has been a strength that was unexpected. Let's make it a new streak of wins
  10. What will AC do to shut this Cub machine down in the 9th. Not follow Counsell's example
  11. Counsell has turned this into a clown show . Sox hitters tomorrow will be totally clueless with timing all thrown off.
  12. Very encouraging to see that Rafaela has serious potential to be a MLB hitter. Maybe it is a freak day and sloppy Cubbie pitching/fielding but Cedanne's shots are real and very welcome
  13. Good for him, a run scoring piece of contact. Unlike the 3Bman who K's
  14. I was speculating about tomorrow. Cooper may not be on the roster yet , nor Dalbec off. Casas is still on the 10 day for a another couple days.
  15. For a career National Leaguer, Ian Happ plays the LF wall like he owns it. Good to see Rafaela bang a hard drive off the Wall. Alas, no runs.
  16. Eat my shorts, Yoshi goes off the wall in left and turns a double into a single. Actually a typical hard hit off the wall stops many runners from going to 2B
  17. Traded for "cash considerations" ? JH must be crying at the loss of cash. Bye-Bye, Bobby D, Bye-bye. We knew you all too well.
  18. Classic Winckowski , known as the "WHIP",. 2 outs, 0-2 count and gives up 2 hits , goes over 40 pitches and needs to get the 3rd out to hold the lead.
  19. Prescient call . Duran messed up by being on base, breaking O'Neill's string of solo HR's. Interesting that Jarren went to left taking advantage of the home field quirks. When he was hot earlier in April he was going to the left side continuosly and hitting well. He and Yoshi both prosper when slashing the ball to left side.
  20. O'neill messed up. There was Duran on base when he left the Park. Actually it was Devers who messed up by swinging at ball 4. There are times when I really dislike Devers.
  21. Valdez is a chickenshit pitcher killer. His matador defense puts Winckowski well over 20 pitches in the first instead of sitting on the bench between innings. PLAY NOT MADE
  22. Sort of like Grissom, until he finally shows up, maybe this week.
  23. There are 3 games left in April. My goal for the Sox is to stay at .500 or above, requiring that we win at least 1. Let's get that done today.
