  1. Ben Brown, rookie with fair stats so far. 3.72 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 18 K's in 19.1 innings vs Josh Winckowski. Josh only has 2 issues, the 1.80 WHIP and the fact that he is not a starting pitcher .. Just a guy trying to do a job because his predecessors are not able to be there. If the Sox simply cannot hit at Fenway, then just say so and we'll all save time. Somebody needs to help Duran. When he was on base, slashing to LF, it was great. Get back to it, my man Duran. Let's beat the Cubbies and get a new streak going.
  2. The chrome is coming off the trailer hitch boys. Reality is catching up with the Sox, who cannot compete at Fenway Park.
  3. This game is death by a thousand cuts. I think one fact very clear is that Refsnyder has a weak arm. A mid range flyball to LF in Fenway should not score a guy from 3B. They almost got him but throw was slightly off line Plays not made, not errors per se.
  4. Solo HR, walk, single.... 3outs, down by 2 runs. Guys , it is supposed to be walk, single, HR , tie game
  5. They've been picking on you a lot recently .
  6. They cumulatively just gave up the 3rd run tonight. The Sox cannot play a AAAA infield for weeks on end , expecting defensive support for a pitching staff that may be returning from its recent trip to the moon
  7. Healthy, but with bad vision. I am convince he cannot see the ball accurately to hit it well or often. He may also have psycho problems due to his performance pressuring him. I wonder if they ever put him up against a live ,capable pitcher to test his ability to see the ball under no pressure. BP is not near the same as seeing live pitching from any MLB level thrower.
  8. I bet Ol' Sal can really bring the cheese
  9. Hah, Bell, you misspelled "facetime"
  10. The Sox have only played 10 of their 26 games at Fenway (3-7), so the remaining schedule is loaded (+6) towards home games. The ability to win at home may not be an intangible. Familiarity with a peculiar field layout, sleep at home with a select partner, and having final AB's for a walkoff win, all contribute to home field advantage.
  11. This is probably a 1-0 game with Crawford's 0.66 ERA and Imanaga's 0.84 ERA . More likely a Fenway slugfest 12-8. Cora acknowledged the Fenway W-L deficit for the past few seasons and was going to do something about it. Had to do with the atmosphere in the Park.
  12. Sox hitters led by Abreu, Wong and Devers getting their money's worth behind, once again, excellent/effective pitching . Good game to win, sets up the chance at a series win.
  13. If Duran wants to see why he is slumping, just watch a little video, Jarren. You have lost your sense of the strike zone, have become jumpy and are chasing s*** pitches. Really need him on track at the top of the lineup
  14. 5 inning shutout by Criswell ? Take your wins when they are presented to you . At 1-7 vs O's and Guardians , it is time to show up against better teams
  15. Chris Martin should be well rested to come in later in this game. Just trying to get to that point is the challenge
  16. Criswell getting away with tossing 85 mph meatballs. He's pitching to the cold weather but that trick may not work very long.
  17. The Sox podiatrist is fitting Yoshi for his custom lifts now. He really should be cross-trained there seeing as he has little other value in the field, and range is not a big factor at 1st.
  18. I mentioned yesterday that this injury is a test , as was Gio's, for this new/old front office to take some direct action to support the team. You know that Breslow, Romero and the analytic nerds know every single MLB, MiLB player , including semi-retired, and how to reach them or their agent. Including Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican and Samoa they must have data on every possible ballplayer to find some help here. Not looking for an All-Star, just a competent replacement player, even with a -0- WAR Do it NOW
  19. Oh, you mean to cover for that guy Nevers when he can't play ?
  20. This point can't really be questioned much longer. Whitlock does not have the durability for a 28-30 game starter. The BP is not as deep as it seems from early successes. The overriding issue is that without Pivetta and , of course, Giolito, there is no one else around to start a game. Sort of like first base situation.
  21. Maybe aggressive on the base paths is not a great tactic. Guardian catcher made the grab and throw and Wong is wrong
  22. Brennan B. not fooling anybody so far. The requirement for perfect pitching to hide the batting side of the lineup will not work every day.
  23. The number of runners picked off as they break for second early is adding up. I agree with the Sox being aggressive but they are off on timing.
  24. I'm concerned that this unreal string of starting pitching will one day go south, even if just for one game . We have been seriously spoiled by being in every game recently and assume that we will get this type pitching all year. Got to manufacture a few runs now. April baseball north of the Mason-Dixon line is a crapshoot of its own. Cool damp day for pitchers and hitters. Not great. Tomorrow in Cleveland is forecast for cold and windy.
  25. Plays not made, roads not taken.... Valdez did not cause a run by Houck's tough pitching, but the pitch count does add up.
