  1. Notice how Dalbec is rarely if ever injured. It comes from not swinging too often or too hard. It was sad the other day to see Bobby get a rocket shot off but go straight to the 3Bman . Should have been a 2 rbi'er.
  2. Now I see Moonlight Graham Heineman makes 2 plate appearances, gets hit by pitch , scores a run and immediately goes on the 10 day IL with a hamstring strain. That just maybe a convenience move to get Tyler O'Neill back for a quick checkout.
  3. I'd guess 8-9 weeks plus 20 days rehab, say late June, early July. As Red says, it is time to see what Breslow will do in this case. Dalbec regrettably is not the answer for 2 months. Where is Swihart nowadays?
  4. Well, you know Cora likes the RH hitters vs LH'ers , so Yoshi sits, ..... ......wait Lively is a RH pitcher In reality, Cora needs to get O'Neill back into game speed , and who were you going to sit to let Yoshi play. Why can't Masataka learn first base ? Let's say he is vertically challenged
  5. I kept wondering why he wasn't IL'ed for 10 days. Then learned that Heineman was the last position player on the 40 and was already called up. No need to IL Raffy, unless you want to give another pitcher a short stint with the big club. And who needs pitching with this staff, lol?
  6. It's clear that exceptional pitching, primarily starters led by Houck, have kept the rest of the patchwork quilt lineups in the games , leading to this amazing outcome in latter part of April. A few guys have stepped up and contributed key hits when needed, Wong, even Valdez and Abreu. The bench in terms of MLB ability is questionable ( Dalbec, Hamilton, Reyes ). Our catching duo of Wong/McGuire is the 4th bench role and both have been good. With Refsnyder back in the game, Devers and O'Neill able to play , the active roster looks better immediately. Someone needs to go, and it likely is Bobby D. I do think the past couple weeks with starting players dropping like flies ( now Casas) that Alex Cora has kept the guys focused and playing well. He has done his job and held it together. The challenge now is to take the early cumulative success and translate it into wins vs legit playoff grade teams, and especially the AL East rivals
  7. Devers and O'Neill may take a few games to get back up to speed. The lineup on paper will certainly look better . Fortunate timing on the Pirate series with them on a major slump after a nice start. Casas sounds like he is out for a long time (30-60 days) . Can Pivetta's elbow get him through his contract year ? Bet not. Can Whitlock endure a full season ? Bet not.
  8. Nice streak of wins, MVP. Hope it goes 3 more this week.
  9. The Road Warriors sweep a bad team. But all the W's count the same
  10. Seems like a forever game , only in the 5th, but the good guys are winning
  11. Dalbec is not a good enough batter that the umpire needs to f*** him over too
  12. Only if the Red Sox win, Thunder. Sorry but it's the big leagues, not a participation event.
  13. Did anyone else see Ryan Brasier come in for the Dodgers yesterday vs Mets in a tight game ? Ryan gives up a 3 run HR to dead center on the first pitch. He was ok after getting that one out of his system.
  14. BTW, MVP 78, nice run so far streaking some wins together. But if you get this one today with this lineup, you are, in fact, the MVP.
  15. Dalbec ?? This lineup is truly the pits. Reyes at 1B and Booby D at 3B. Devers must be injured really bad.
  16. As today's game was progressing, watching Yoshi on the basepaths reminded me of Ron Cey. Short legged, sort of penguin like trot.
  17. Just hope everyone realizes that the current run of relative success only reinforces John Henry's apparent contention that a no name roster on the cheap is just as good as the high priced spread. Beware of what you wish for.
  18. I'll drink the acid if that happens. I am glad for any success he does earn because it helps the Sox and enhances his deadline trade value, so all is good.
  19. That was a good win all around. Crawford gets the W, Kenly a save, and Yoshi delivers the sushi roll. Abreu all over the bases. Only bad news is that Casas may have rib or oblique strain, which , like O'Neill's concussion is not a one day deal. BTW, is Devers still on this team? We win without him, lose with him. He has missed 9/22nds of the season
  20. Kenley gets a gift TK-O from the rulebook
  21. Well Kenley did K the MLB leading K'e Mr. Cruz , but it took 7 pitches to get him. Kenley will finish this one well.
  22. Ol Joely still has that LH black magic , immediately giving up the long ball. Sorry, I've been out dumpster diving and ran into a few Red Sox execs
  23. He is critical to be available right now, but it is a statement on the organization that a player like Bobby Dalbec is critical to fielding a team.
  24. Good for Bello, 6 inning , 1 hit shutout start, , hitters showed up with power. Booser makes his debut as the oldest player since 1947 to make an MLB debut at 31 years or older, except for some aliens . Very good to be over .500 in April as the starting pitching is extending its dominance and extending its depth into the 6th and beyond
  25. Surprised Bobby D did not rupture every muscle in his leg and groin with that very awkward non-slide
