  1. Smith and Grissom should be pitchers, both are no-hitters
  2. Told you it wasn't over. Tyler comes alive with 2 outs and saves crawford for the moment. Great timing
  3. games not over, Sox will probably score 8 or 9. Crawford , however, continues to picth without a true "OUT" pitch. He also seems to get tight shorts when things go against him.
  4. Pitching with 2 outs and 2 strikes plus 2 out walks tell a story . Play from behind, it's more fun that way. Now 3 runs, 27 pitches and still working
  5. This is a Red Sox baseball site, but for anyone who watched the Bruins putrid 3rd period, you saw total offensive ineptitude, 8 minutes in the PBox , a 50-50 call on interference in the midst of a missed cross check penalty next to the goal. Bruins are boiled like the Maine cockroaches of the sea that they are.
  6. Nice win of the game and series against an opponent with many of the same issues as the Sox through almost 25% of the schedule. Now it goes to 4 with the Rays, normally a challenge, but their results to date are a game +1/2 worse so far. Would be nice to take the series 3-1. Bello back in rotation is more encouraging than Pivetta was. Jansen and Martin , as Moon notes, are looking better too. Duran and O'Neill coming off the high of April's hitting/running and solo HR binge.
  7. Interesting move. With Campbell returning , Josh's propensity to put guys on base is catching up to him.
  8. Let's get a streak going here today. As pitcher's say, get me 2; as Duran says, I'm going for 2 , as Ernie Banks said, Let's play 2. Brayan Bello back in the Park, probably a 5 inning special.
  9. Wasn't able to watch the whole game but very glad to see the outcome. Even better, if I'm going to rag on Devers for failing at key points , I have to credit him bigly for a key hit to drive in 2 for the win. Swing the bat, guys. You may hit something. Sort of a critical win behind outstanding pitching once again.
  10. Flyball HR to a .167 hitter . O'B obliges by telling us only in Fenway and Minutemaid. This strategy of playing from behind gets old.
  11. The 17 run laugher vs the Cubs distorts the stats a little. I think there is some recognition of that in updates to yesterday's thread.
  12. So Youk, tell me what it was that Devers was looking for as strike 3 floated across home plate ?
  13. Abreu not afraid to swing the bat and see what happens .
  14. Just wondering what the MLB record for most consecutive innings being shutout at a home park. I'm sure we aren't there yet, but it does feel that way. Utter absence of Home Run power in a park where flyballs are not HRs in 27 other parks.
  15. There are 9 ways to get on first base. My suggestion is to use some of the more obscure ones to up our OBP. Say, dropped 3rd strike could be popular with the Sox batters. Maybe some catcher's interference. Go ahead and let the pitch hit you. Maybe the 1Bman interferes with you trying to run out your weak groundball.
  16. Good Luck getting a win streak started , SS . Game Thread starters have been obliterated lately, a reflection on the actual non-hitting team.
  17. The bloom is off the April rose when this version of the Sox showed some spark and excitement , instead of excrement with men on base. Their best pitcher has a losing record now since they cannot support him, especially at Fenway. And they were up against a pitcher with a 5 year record of non-winning, poor stats , but couldn't hit at all. In the end the losing Bruins did outscore these assclowns by 1. No credit to either of them.
  18. Put the biscuit in the basket, and get the f'ing bat off your shoulder.. A sure fire strategy to actually win a game.
  19. On the other hand, the Red Sox have outscored the Bruins after the second period, also playing at home. Man, these 2 offenses suck.
  20. Not to be... Jarren's taking tips from O'Neill and Devers, called 3rd strike and it was within the strike zone.
  21. bases loaded, 2 outs, game is in Duran's hands. I'm a Duran fan this year, so will love it if he picks up a couple rbi's
  22. Devers amongf several still leaving LOB's with 2 outs. O'Neill is a disappointment too after watching him more recently. These guys are at home in a hitter friendly park against a really weak pitcher, had a day off yesterday . Difficult to figure these guys out.
  23. Houck now through 5, but still having to work hard with 2 outs, even 2 strikes on the hitters. It's a challenge tonight, but the offensive production is not clicking.
  24. One problem with the 3 runs off Houck on weak rollers through the 4 hole is the somewhat extreme positioning of Grissom , shifted well towards 2nd base. Otherwise we are up 1-0. The analytics give and takeaway.
  25. Sox finally bust through on the hittable Mr. Corbin with a run created by Conor Wong and a wall ball double by Cooper. Wow , this lineup is a machine
