  1. 2nd inning, 2 outs, 3-2 on the batter---Nats start a 2 run rally with 3 consecutive hits, exceeding Houck's ERA early. Of course the Sox had their runner O'Neill erased at the plate.
  2. Houck vs Patrick Corbin LH'er, career #5 type pitcher. 0-3 in 2024 with 6.35 ERA and 1.81 WHIP. In his best year of his last 5 (2020 short season) his ERA was 4.66 with a 1.57 WHIP. What I am saying here is that if the Sox lineup, at Fenway, cannot hit Corbin and score 4 or 5 runs in 5 innings, then there are serious issues with the bats. Houck, we know well this year. Tanner needs another good 7 inning start, preferably a 1 or 2 runs given up to rack up a win. Facing an 18-18 Nats team with a team OPS of .679 , Tanner should prevail. Projected lineup: Duran (LF) Refsnyder (DH) O'Neill (RF) Devers (3B) Wong © Grissom (2B) Cooper (1B) R. Gonzalez (SS) Rafaela (CF)
  3. Bad night for Boston teams with Sox offering no resistance to Sale & Co, . The Bruins now down 3-1 after 2 surrendering a goal with 0.3 seconds left in 2nd. They have a disorganized offense and low puck handling/passing skills.
  4. Devers , among other things , is a mental midget . What pitch did he think Sale was going to throw on 2-2 ? 99% of this group would have said low slider, away. Sure enough Raffy chased it leaving 2 more on base.
  5. Pivetta is a damn HR throwing machine , center-center on both curves as well as FB's. Always was, still is.
  6. Boston is still having its 2Bman trying to get up to MLB speed, Cooper is a plug-in not much better than Dalbec, Romy Gonzalez is playing his 1st game at 1B in MLB, Pivetta just had a month off due to a sore arm. 33% of the lineup every night shouldn't be at this level
  7. Bruins have outscored the Sox so far at 1-0. But, it's early
  8. Told you Pivetta was throwing some cookies up there. Back to back jacks 4-0 in the first Game may be over, time to watch the Bruins
  9. It was a slow dribbler to SS who chose to get one
  10. Sure enough a 3 run jack by Ozuna. Another almost 5 out inning bites Pivetta
  11. Nice DP by Rafaela-Grissom. Pivetta throwing a few cookies up there, but still hangs a ZERO . Wong in the #2 slot is unusual but he immediately showed why, creating a double out of a bouncer through the infield. BUT WAIT, no DP. It is overturned. Nick needs to come back out to get the 3rd out. Watch out !!!
  12. Sale vs Sox sleepy bats ? Man against boys. Duran will need to learn to stay in the box a little better or all he will see if sliders away.
  13. Duran may be the best baserunner I have seen in a long time. Nevers will never drive him in though, I truly dislike the guy . His HR Sunday was just a stat padder in a game virtually won.
  14. Right here, Moon. Never really liked him , felt he was basically a lazy player of better talent than what he puts out. I think his 10 year deal will grow exceedingly old as he ages into 30's as his shoulder and knee become chronic. . He is not the best player on this team , and you will love this one, He is not a clutch hitter. At 27 he will continue for a few years to be the 3Bman and upper 3rd of lineup hitter, but that does not make him great or a good example/leader of the Rafaela's/Abreu's, etc.
  15. The Sox will not be 62-46 at the deadline, more in the range 54-54, +- 3 games either way. They should be sellers of a sort at that time, particularly Jansen and Martin. Pivetta may tough to eliminate either due to physical status, or due to lack of alternative pitchers. I would require a premium for Pivetta, because the Red Sox will need to replace him for next season.
  16. Moving Verdugo was a good decision . He is an airhead who will eventually disappoint then trash his team.
  17. Had the same feeling, especially pitching Criswell vs Ryan. The slow bats over the past few days was not encouraging but the guys played well and won . Encouraging.
  18. One of the few times there was little to criticize Hernandez about. He wasn't the star of the game today
  19. Rafael D did get his shot and a couple of RBI's. Jansen gets his work in , Grissom got the hit when it was needed, as did Cedanne . Criswell continued the effective starting pitching albeit for only 4.1 . Still better than last year's #5 pitchers Nice team win to end Twins streak and start their own. Way to go Bellhorn !
  20. Grissom turns up and knocks in the big insurance runs. Good for him and the team needing a win.
  21. BTW, while I'm rolling , Zack Kelly is no WALK in the park on a Sunday afternoon
  22. It could be that the shoulder and or knee are becoming chronic soreness that slows his game down, and he could be just in a slump. But your thought does ring true also . He may not be the player, say Mookie Betts is.
  23. Better hope the Panthers are rusty from waiting on that very exciting finish. Boston's offense just appeared so uncoordinated throughout this series and power plays were a joke.
  24. Dever's namesake, Ernie Nevers, was a great player but alas, Never won a SB.
  25. Rafaela crushes it and McGuire's steal of third doesn't matter. He can walk home.
