  1. I thought they needed to give him the 10 day IL, which last Thursday. He isn't able to either get well or contribute much as is.
  2. Bibee started this game with a 1.70 WHIP and a 5.09 ERA. The Sox are nothing, if not opponent stat builders. Meanwhile, many of our commenters like to point out our starting pitcher dominance in ERA, which is true, but useless because the games are being played for 9 innings, not 4 or 5. The next least meaningful stat is the run differential. Yes, winning teams are normally in ++ territory but a 12-2 win against 3 shutouts and now 3 potential 1 run performances don't mean you are a good hitting team. How could this bunch be a good team with guys like Dalbec still on the 26 ? And the sore shouldered Devers toting the rock at .186/.712
  3. Whitock, 4 innings and 54 pitches ?? What a shame that he must be hurt. Joely slip sliding away again. But also another 1 run game so far by Boston offensive offense.
  4. I complain about Valdez as being a problem in the field but every once in awhile he deserves credit for stepping into a pitch and losing the ball. Way to hit Enmanuel. Of course, no one on base
  5. Enjoyed your conclusion. Teammates constantly rotating positions and roster turnover prevent any sort of familiarity and shared experiences that build on the talent.
  6. The discussion on the benefits or not of coaching and training mid level players is interesting. You can't however, teach baseball instincts and inherent smarts . You cannot coach dumb to not so bright.
  7. I didn't see the RF-1B play as it happened, but by any chance did Casas miss the tag?
  8. If I were him, I'd resign rather than let these numbnuts color my future in baseball
  9. Casas is on the spectrum, in case it is not obvious to all. On 2nd, no outs, down 2, what else would you do but lumber towards 3B ? Truly pathetic. Let's just hope he didn't either see a sign or mistake hold for run.
  10. He needs to rest his shoulder so the concussion protocol is a great deflection
  11. No post game meal for you. I couldn't figure why you were jumping on my man Duran who wasn't near that shitshow./ But to even it out, Devers was way too far into left field chasing that ball over his head. The SS normally would have a better angle on it . The short LF also makes it more likely a charging Lf'er has the best- position . One problem with continual roster and position rotation is that the fielders do not have experiential knowledge as to how their teammates tend to play certain situations.
  12. All 6 Cleveland runs came off our BP, and ALL were scored with 2 outs. Once again Sox pitchers just don't get the 3 outs/inning concept, backed up by the often clueless , unskilled defense
  13. Assuming it stays 4-0, this will be the 3rd shutout along with 2 one run efforts in the first 17 games, just over 10% of the season. Devers has missed multiple games. Story never really got going except to the surgery room, others come and go depending on the breeze. Typically 1/3 of the lineup is popgun trio of Hamilton, Valdez and Reyes .
  14. The fielding and baseball instinctual prowess is only equaled by the inconsistent hitting . Keystone cops in many ways on defense.
  15. I love rationalizing current weak performances by citing lifetime career stats of guys who compiled most of those stats in their previous decade of pitching or hitting. Jansen is best utilized in April/May/ June/July 2024 by getting some value for him, even if they eat half his deal. Kenley's stats this year don't reveal his actual current abilities. He is on proverbial thin ice every time out there. He just hasn't had it fully blow up on him yet.
  16. Yes a sac fly, where all runners advanced, including 1st to 2nd on a fly to Duran in CF. A little odd, and took away the DP opportunity
  17. His stats do not mean he is pitching well, only getting away with it. Trout's record vs Jansen is now something over 50% K's ( 7 of 12 ABs?) . Even then I'm a little surprised AC didn't move Trout to 1B and have the multiple force outs available. Can't deny the value of the win with Cleveland coming in early tomorrow , but didn't need another 24 pitch thriller from Kenley . You know that if anyone made a real bid to Breslow for Kenley, he would be gone tomorrow.
  18. I have seen all the Kenley Jansen I want to see this season. He will render himself untradeable.
  19. It's more like constant references to personal links and tutelage with Pedro. The skill levels do not match up as well as the mentorship by Martinez
  20. That AB by Rafaela shows little maturing of his plate approach . 2-0 count vs Suarez who cannot throw strikes and he swings at a ball inside off the plate generating a weak pop to SS. This kid is confused.
  21. Yoshi may be waking up due to the critics from this website. If he can power up a bit it would certainly help his trade value
  22. He is truly a dumbf*** at heart though
  23. Bobby D is OK with me. O for the season and 60% K's
  24. Nice whack by Reyes to get the lead back.
  25. Sox now have 3 different individuals make errors while playing 3rd base. No harm, no foul due to the DP, but not an encouraging trend for a team emphasizing defense to its fan base going into ST.
