But aren't recent performance trends somewhat an indicator of short term ( WC 3 game series) expected results ? Slumps and streaks can start on a dime , but I would look at at last 7-15 games for an indicator on how certain players might perform over the next 3 games. Of course, they could completely turn around, but if 9 guys are slumping, should you expect all of them to come alive just because it is playoff time? Will non-power hitters suddenly muscle up ? The good news is we will get to see in less than 2 weeks. Look for who is trending up then. Nobody could be trending much more down than the Sox lineup -
Houston will beat Red Sox at their place How can so many be missing the teamwide slump. I guess the assumption is they will break out just in time and run to the WS scoring 9 runs a game

Only referring to that AB as disappointing. But you are correct, fighting the Mendoza line for a full season is disastrous . The fact that a Talksox writer had to break Duran down and show what he needed to do tells how disastrous it is

Story is most disappointing. OB mentions he has hit safely in 14 of 15 games ! But his season OPS is .618, disappointing. Duran is equally disappointing. OTOH, Nate Eovaldi is a guy I still respect for his work in the WS .

So Bennett, like so many Sox starters was not really ready for the 1st inning and hot hit hard, BUT by 2nd, 3rd he was loose and became effective. Any chance , to save young arms, that Bailey is shortening starter warmup and prep.
