  1. Gasper rapidly running out of gas , especially as leadoff hitter
  2. Really great effort by Tolle , who must get the W tonight. Maybe Slaten can cover the 8th and 9th
  3. Former part time employee at Fenway who only took the job for the health insurance
  4. Interesting that Duran stayed closer to HP when the scrum was forming . Contreras should not be stirring up possible trouble and disturb Tolle's mindset.
  5. I think Tolle is the real deal. Would prefer him over Early in a key game. Payton makes Bello look like a joke
  6. Ahh. Bello. The name that is easy to forget. I don't think he has been mentioned in a couple weeks. I am sure Brez let's his name come up i. trade discussion
  7. Wow, nothing like the Sox at Fenway! Great start. Tolle looks tough and efficient. Amazing what hapwhen you pitch 1st strikes
  8. The Sox cannot be the only team with injuries, so somebody likely needs a fast OF'er. Also, come playoff time a guy who can steal a base ( Dave Roberts), score from 1st on a double or create a double could be highly valued. Beyond those scenarios, not many may need an inconsistent Duran . Craig, call the Dodgers, Braves and Phillies. Maybe DD has a soft spot for Jarren.
  9. Brez's comments about having to present his recommendations on trades to ownership (Theo? or LeBron??) was telling to me. Unless the trades involved significant money allocations (+ or -) then I would think the CBO is empowered to make those moves on his own based on player performance projections. If Henry now needs to OK a trade of Weissert for Mason Miller with the Padres , it will never get done timely.
  10. So Splendid Splinter's Coal Dust Twins are reunited on the IL. Certainly not a doctor but a stress reaction in the ulna sounds a lot like a broken arm in the sense of a so called stress fracture, basically a "broken bat" minor crack. But a full healing is still a 4-5 week rest period. Can't wait to see what Cheng brings to the party and/or how long it may take to get Romy G up to MLB speed.
  11. He probably also relied on players like Anthony, Crochet, Story , Oviedo, Sandoval, Crawford, Romy G. etc contributing to something other than dead money weak performances, then failure to recover from those injuries. Not defending nor a Breslow fan but he got caught with a roster that was OK on paper but performed poorly on the field, had a breakup with Cora and coaches , and cannot get significant players healthy. I still think he will survive the season but not the post season depending on JH's assessment of the CBA negotiations.
  12. The guy is trying to get better , which I guess you could say about Crochet and Anthony, only in their cases, it is not happening. And Durbin shows an attitude that is different than Duran and Mayer's who specialize in self-flagellation as a cure for suckitude. He is a long way from being any kind of great, just ascending to good enough to carry his weight on a better team . But I do believe he is trying to get there, after trying the Red Sox Way at the plate.
  13. Agree 100%. Breslow needs to realize that he messed this up and the best way to correct course would be to get some value out of expiring contracts. But in doing that Brez sort of admits to the mistakes and for a genius like himself, that is a very tall order, not likely to be filled.
  14. Also would like very much for the hitters to take down another good Yankee pitcher as they did last night. This time in support of Tolle.
  15. Chapman trying to nail it but making us sweat as much as he does. Get that man a towel
  16. Mayer 2-0 vs a wild pitcher swings away and pops up Beware the DP from Yoshi I think he just got PH'ed.
  17. The Wizard Weissert will test the Nation with his bewildering outings
  18. 28% FBs at 94.7. That means 72% of pitches were off speed to some degree. He did crank it up in his final 2 innings
  19. Giving Early much credit for recovering from the 1st inning workout. Certainly gave the Sox a chance .
