  1. That's what I was looking at too, I wonder if he can be elite elite again if he just ditches the 4 seamer and throws the sinker with the slider/split
  2. (((365x1.65)/12)X14) =702.625 it’s perfectly in balance. 1.65 is 5 years of MLB player inflation
  3. Nobody on this board predicted that.
  4. Eff it, I mean, you already signed one bad PR guy, mine as well get two of them in there on one year deals. Or we can go all out and sign Julio Urias too and make it a threesome. Pleaded no contest, no false claims, none of his accusers arrested, dude legit beat his wife; real stand up kind of guy! Urais/Bauer united again. Or, we could just sign Fried or Burnes and trade for a #2.
  5. Chapman still hit 105 on the radar gun last year, he still has it, that's a fact. What I find weird is he throws 4 pitches which is just odd. I wonder if Bailey and Breslow think they can tighten up his arsenal and turn him back into one of the best relievers in the entire game for a year.
  6. I don't think Chapman is going to close, but I think he will get some work in tight spots. I can see him being used as the guy who comes in to get 3 outs when a bunch of lefty's are coming up in innings 7-9. His performance could entrust him with more. I really like his stuff, but I'm not sure I would trust him in the 9th in a tight game. Not with that insane walk rate.
  7. Bernardino is the obvious candidate here, he's probably the lefty Chapman is replacing and he has an option year left.
  8. I think it's exactly the opposite. He gets to be AMONG those other great Dominicans. It's also been widely reported Soto wants to be "the man" he will still be second fiddle in NY to the Yankees if he's on the Mets. There's also been talk that if all is equal Boston is the favorite.
  9. I think the tax implications would actually make Boston the higher offer. We. Might. Actually. Win. This. Still, I don't think you can ever count out the LA/NY markets, although LA has been very quite on this front, I believe the reports that it's down between us and the Mets. Still, I hope Yankee fans truly believe they will resign him. I think they will be more disappointed than we are to not land him.
  10. Hasn't it been confirmed? I think mutliple sources have confirmed this offer now and even when Passan and others attacked Pepn and Mic they didn't deny the offer being made at all, only Soto and the Sox being in agreement. Red Sox offer $632 million dollars Mets offer $660 million dollars. All as of two days ago.
  11. John Henry does not know the exact dollar figure the Mets are going to offer. You don't offer $638 million dollars unless you're ready to pay someone $638 million dollars.
  12. No matter how you slice it 13/632 is some serious money.
  13. You’re assuming Storks comment is correct and he knows what he’s talking about. has anyone anywhere mentioned this? Otherwise I’m done conversing about Madstorks made up theories
  14. In theory, but we know that's BS. If that was the case NY would still be in it, and the Mets would be all over that. There's no way he doesn't have a better option than 11 years out there. Also, there's literally NO ONE reporting what Stork said, he's making s*** up. That's my gripe.
  15. John Henry "Oh hi Scott it looks like we are close to a deal with Juan but we have just one hang up. We really want to have player options for his age 40 season" Scott Boras "Gee John I don't know, we really wanted to take that $638 million dollar offer but how dare you ask for the right to pay him even more money than that when he's at retirement age" John Henry "oh.....well F you then go sign with the Mets" See how dumb that sounds.
  16. If we are signing Soto we're spending money again. We can afford better than Bauer, and if we are looking for bargains and taking a chance on guys, there's better gambles out there now than Trevor as well. I'd rather go Fried/Beiber.
  17. Boyd had better years between 2017-2021, with 2021 looking better if he pitched the full year. This plays into what I've been saying for a very long time around here. People love to look at what a guys WAR was for the last year or two or point to a steamers projection but I say time and time again that you have to look at upside, in only takes one team out there to bet on a guys upside. Someone in Cubs organization probably thinks they can get Boyd right and he can be a 2-3 War pitcher. Will he? IDK, but this is why guys get paid more than we think they will.
  18. Things worked out pretty good for Blake Snell not so much for Jordan Montgomery
  19. Even the best hitter in the league strikes out some at bats.
  20. Why would the Sox be fighting for team options at his age 38/39/40 seasons lol? It's amazing what people just make up and throw at the wall.
  21. Oh yeah? and what's your source? some dude on twitter with 12 followers?
  22. Year after year, the market for free agents is under estimated. Remember when Bogaerts hit FA and we wanted to extend him for around 100-125? Yeah fun times, or when no one thought Pivetta would be offered and turn down a Q.O.? The narrative never seems to change and the surprises come every year. Of course……someone will always be grossly overpaid or sign a team friendly deal but that’s just the way it is. Frankie Montas is an old Sox friend, an international piece who came up thru Bostons system. He was traded with Jose Iglesias and two other guys for Jake Peavy. Fun times
  23. Also he knew the Red Sox would try to sign him. who ever could have figured a team would be in on a good player. Amazing indisputable facts
  24. How will they ever find the money now?
