  1. Here I’ll spare you a little trouble. Sonny Gray put up 3.6 War last season. Thats more than every single pitcher in free agency this year. And it would have been second best on this team.
  2. I’m sure this will be taken the wrong way around here but power is over rated. A guy could literally be average to suck in every facet of the game but if he hits a HR once a week he’s a must have MOTO bat?
  3. You spit things out as fact that are in fact....not facts. Literally no one agrees with you. Duran took a step back in his play this year. You seem to think that it's because he moved out of CF and not that his level of play actually just regressed. Your entire logic is built on that false premise. I see it, everyone in here sees it, the Red Sox see it, the greater baseball scouting world sees it. You say "the numbers are conclusive" no......no they're not. Don't take the drug reference too personal or literal. People in sports often say things like "what are you smoking" when you suggest something that literally no one else is.
  4. Perfect? Alonso is far from perfect. For someone who has 80 power he certainly doesn’t walk enough, he doesn’t hit for average or fringe average at best. He clogs up the bases, and his a fringe to below average defender. what Alonso does do well, is hit home runs. But I think he’s getting overhyped by a lot of people here because of the power. this is coming from someone who likes Alonso and would welcome an Alonso signing.
  5. Bo Bichette is getting $240 give or take.
  6. Why would they take on both Masa and Hicks? They’re either trying to clear out money or get guys back in return. Not negative value pitchers and a DH no one wants. Now they have two roster spots clogged up instead of one. I think the Cardinals want prospects for Arenado, and I don’t think you have to give up very good ones either.
  7. I mean this with the utmost respect but…..are you on crack? Rafaela is literally a gold glove CFer and Abreau is literally a Gold glove rightfilders and it’s without “question” a better alignment to move BOTH those guys off their position for an inferior defender in LF to move to CF? I mean, we all got opinions, but I don’t think you can say something is “without question” when you’re literally living on an island with a population of 1.
  8. Yup, looks like the above side is going to win. Next year, I think I might have to set the over/under a little higher, I think some number closer to below the 2nd threshold instead of right above the first one might be more interesting. Although having a pretty 50/50 split might mean I picked a decent over/under line. Obviously my thinking was completely arbitrary on that but we had a pretty split vote.
  9. This is a good point that I did not think of, but from what I can find....he does not have good arm strength. It's an old scouting report, but I'd love to be wrong and get his bat in the line up https://legacy.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=98
  10. His arm is weaker than Mayer and Story, Polanco to 3B is not a good ideal
  11. That's adding $48-49 million which puts them below the second LT level. And heck, if they could pay to dumb Yoshida they could hypothetically still go below the first level. This is in line with last years spending.
  12. Tyson Lewis has tremendous upside, they get him with Duran. That's a haul.
  13. Take all the effing Martes, I have cornered the Merte market.
  14. Ok time to go stupid stupid crazy fantasy: Here is a trade ideal: Red Sox Get Nick Lodolo, Ketel Marte, & Noevli Marte Reds Get: Marcelo Mayer & Yordanny Monegro Diamondbacks get: Jarren Duran/Tyson Lewis. Sox Turn around and trade with the Twins Twins get: Connelly Early/Wilyer Abreu Red Sox get: Joe Ryan. Starting Rotation: Crochet/Ryan/Lodolo/Bello/Crawford Line up: C. Narvaez 1B. Alonso 2B. Marte SS. Story 3B Okamoto LF. Noevli Marte/Garcia CF. Rafaela RF Anthony DH. Yoshida/Casas That's a team that can compete for a pennant
  15. Well those are the exact types of things that make them sleeper picks. No one has seen Neely yet, he could be dude and not really move up at all, but if he looks like he's close to being a guy he could shoot up really quick in the rankings.
  16. I'm not the biggest guy on the Sandy Alcantara boat, but that statcast page is very misleading. I'd love to know how much red we'd see over blue if we saw the second half of his season.
  17. My top 3 sleeper picks to take a leap in the rankings: Marcus Phillips - hits 100 MPH, I'd love to see what the Sox can get cooking with him in his first full season. He could be next years Payton Tolle. Low usage in college, get him into a pro system and watch him shoot up our rankings and get on the national radar. Sadbiel Delzine - only 17 years old, and will get his first season of stateside pro ball next year so more eyes will be on him and if the talent is there he could really fire up the rankings Brandon Neely - another pitcher to round out the list. Neely was our 3rd round pick last year right after Payton Tolle and before Brandon Clarke. received $700K in bonus money which is the most the Sox had spent on a pitcher in the draft since 2017, other than Tolle who they drafted just a day earlier. He was hurt and has yet to pitch, but we will see him next year. He's someone who could really shoot up the rankings sitting all the way down at #46.
  18. The voting is at 50/50 with ONE day left to go!
  19. Well, why are you assuming Casas starts the year in Boston? he very well may need a month in WOO anyways so it may work out great. I haven't 100% eliminated the possibility that they move on from Yoshida at some point next year.
  20. He would offer signifcantly more upside at DH than Yoshida does, and is a natural back up if Alonso goes down or falls off a cliff.
  21. WHo said he was going to banished? I think most people assume in the absence of a move he's the 1B. A lot of people want Alonso or someone else in which case he has a nice spot at DH if he can come back and hit.
  22. ADD: that's already counted in his career war. 20-2.2
  23. I'm not discounting his potential, I just don't think he belongs in the same universe as Bichette. Let him stay healthy for a few years and do more than have a few good months then we can talk. Trust me, I hope he gets there, but it's an odd comparision right now.
  24. I find it odd comparing Casas to Bichette and putting Casas in the same sentence as Anthony. I like Casas, I really do, I hope he's a legit middle of the order bat and finally stays healthy. But he's literally never given us much more than 1/2 a season.
