  1. Bloom just creating fake interest to drive the price up on Cashman who's diving into pretty expensive dumpsters. Brilliant move!!!!
  2. Every year is different. While pretty thin, there seem to be a lot of mid-level talented starters on the market. A market that has barely budged and one that I was hoping the Sox were willing to pluck two guys from.
  3. More and more guys are getting locked up so FA in general isn't as robust as it once was. Or at least, that' what my brain is telling me right now.
  4. Now that Khanle has signed with the Yankees…was he a must have for the Red Sox?
  5. I agree, Bloom needs to have a good offseason and he hasn't inspired a lot of enthusiasm in Soxnation. I think Judge/Correa needs to get straightened out before a lot of the other dominos fall and reportedly Aaron Judge is at the winter meetings; it's speculated that he's there to announce his decision. I think one or both of Judge/Correa are signed by the end of the week. After that I think we will learn of Bogaerts fate quickly, unless of course Bloom shocks the baseball world and signs Carlos Correa.
  6. But we lose a higher pick than what we get back. Also, why do we think Swanson will last? With his weak arm, we’d be just as well off moving Story back to SS. I think Swanson is fine there for a few years. I don’t hate it
  7. Dissatisfied
  8. How much longer can Swanson stay at SS? Not only will he cost a pick but he’s probably going to get a hefty payday as well
  9. Ehhh go big or go home. Next years offense will be removed of JDM and Bogaerts. All these guys are getting overpaid. Gotta swing at something when all the pitchers ever do is throw strikes.
  10. I would really hate to lose all those draft picks and international pool money and only have Contreras and Bassitt to show for it.
  11. They will reset eventually, even the Dodgers reset a few years ago, I don't think anyone is ever going to live above that line in perpetuity.
  12. Phillies don't need to reset until 2024, Rangers aren't over, and Verlander isn't putting them over.
  13. We should be very angry if that is all they do.
  14. CF - Kiki 3B - Devers RF - Judge DH - Conforto (he'd get time in LF or RF) 2B - Story 1B - Casas LF - Verdugo SS - Andrus C - McGuire/Wong That lineup would have the potential to do some serious damage. Depending on how healthy and good that Story/Casas/Verdugo middle back of the lineup stays it could be elite if they elongate it.
  15. How angry would Sox fans be if Bloom misses out on Bogaerts and any of the big time SS's and instead signs Andrus to something around 2 years 18 million? as a stopgap to Mayer? But then goes out and signs Judge/Senga? and extends Devers? The math works to stay under the cap, and if they wanted to reset next year they could have the Devers extension start next year and have enough money left over for a #3 starter and Conforto? I doubt this all happens, but the math is there. Conforo/Kike/Paxton money come off next year, and It looks unlikely that they pick up Matt Barnes option which is another 8 million. There may be no holes in 2024 with that team with the likes of Rafaella/Mayer/Yorke/Mata looking to be big-league contributors.
  16. If Degrom can get 5 years and Turner 11, someone is going to give Bogaerts 8-9. The problem is, you’re bidding against every other team in baseball. Someone is always going to act irrationally and give the extra year. There’s value in a assigning value and holding your line, but if you try to act too rationally 100% of the time you’ll be left out in the cold with scraps. Maybe Bogey is that guy, but they had 4 premier short stops in this years market. The Sox have very little excuse to not sign one. At a certain point, we have to be ok with going the extra year with someone or else we truly will be Tampa North.
  17. Turner was projected to make $268 over 8 years. He effectively took 18% less in AAV to get 11 years. If we could assume Bogey would take even just 16% less to get two more years that brings his projected contract to 200/9 220/10 range. If the bidding gets up around $250 that’s just ridiculous, but the Sox should be able to match 200/9 and if they don’t we should break out the pitch forks.
  18. You kind of hope Judge stays in NY now, because if the rumors are true they plan on entering the SS market if he walks makes things dicey. I’d assume either they are LA sign Correa, which means we have to outbid Minnesota, San Diego, Chicago, and one of LA/NY for Bogaerts/Swanson And between those two….I want Bogaerts
  19. Will anyone be upset when we don’t sign Rodon either?
  20. No, by getting under the luxury tax at the deadline. You could have gone big with Verlander this off-season and have his money coming off the books before you’d need to reset again.
  21. Would have been a perfect deal for the Sox if they decided to get under the luxury tax this year at the deadline.
  22. If the reports are true that Bogaerts is going to bring his best offer to the Sox and give them a chance to match, then it makes sense they’ve made no offer to him yet.
  23. It’s not like the trade stipulated we had to start Allen Craig. In the end I was happy with what we got from Joe Kelly. From a pure value stand point STL probably edges that trade out. But that was almost entirely in his 2015 campaign. A year Boston sucked. I doubt lackey would have moved the needle much. Joe Kelly was a big part of that 2018 playoff run. In a perfect world I would have liked Lackey to stay here and honor his contract. But I ain’t mad, it worked out for everyone.
  24. Nothing, he won us a World Series in 2013, threw a hissy fit about a contract HE signed and then we traded him for Joe Kelly. Who was an integral part of the 2018 campaign
  25. They didn’t outbid, they matched our offer. That’s old news now. Do try to keep up
