  1. Should be a good series. Especially if the Yankees win all three 😎
  2. Just a week ago the Yankees swept the White Sox, who had the best record in the AL coming into the series. They were 23-9 since their lousy start and things were looking up. Since then they were swept by the Tigers and have gone 2-6. So which version of this team is closer to their true form? It's still hard to say. To me the pitching is good enough, even without Kluber (barring an injury to another starter). They'll just have to mix and match every 5th game, maybe have an opener along with Garcia/King. Given that their bullpen is their greatest strength it shouldn't be like every 5th game is an automatic loss. Defense and baserunning have been lacking, but ultimately the offense is the #1 problem by far. A bad error or getting thrown out at the plate might lose you a game or two, but continuous bad hitting will lose you every game that your pitching isn't excellent. With a third of the season already gone I don't think that we can assume hitters will snap out of it anymore. Cashman needs to make a move for either a CFer or middle infielder (or both). They can't keep running Gardner and Odor out there everyday and expect the offense to hit.
  3. I think Thames should be gone, and not because I think he is the reason the offense isn't hitting. But there are no consequences for anyone hitting .150, you still get to play everyday. Players need to see that they can't keep hitting like this without someone losing their job.
  4. His overall numbers weren't good last year so you'd have to go back another year to see. But in 2019 as a 19/20 year old between High A/AA he had a 3.5 ERA with 120Ks over 70 innings. He'll never have a top fastball but his secondary pitches are very good, especially his curveball. Also has a plus slider and change-up. That's led to a 12.7 K/9 rate across all levels of the minors. His big issue right now, along with pretty much every young pitcher, is command.
  5. Garcia just turned 22 and has only thrown 108 innings between AA/AAA in his career. It would've been a shock if he didn't have some struggles.
  6. He's either hurt or finished. Guy only throws fastballs and is barely reaching 90mph.
  7. Agreed. It should have been a strike but it's not like it was right down the middle. Those kind of calls happen multiple times a game, just happened that this one was magnified based on the situation. Not even mad about it. Putting up one run (I don't count that extra innings run) against the AAA Tigers is the real travesty.
  8. Yanks didn't deserve to win with that pathetic offensive display. But the pitch right before the walkoff should have been strike three and ended the game. Oh well, it happens.
  9. Is everyone's pitching really good or am I just unlucky? Seems like every week my opponent has an ERA under 1 over 70 innings.
  10. Chapman just sick. Not covid, maybe the flu.
  11. Gardner is also a lefty so we were gonna have to start a lefty in center this game either way.
  12. - Gardner looks cooked - Frazier has one good game a week that makes you think he's coming around, then starts a new 0 for streak - Ford should be in the minors - Odor has had a few clutch hits but otherwise is a defense only player - Sanchez/Higgy look to be .200 hitters who will occasionally crush a mistake - DJ looks nothing like his last two seasons. Less contact, less power, more bad ABs Who in the lineup is actually hitting? Judge still looks good. Torres is coming around a bit. Gio has been solid. And Andujar has looked ok but is just slapping around singles. Even if Stanton comes back it's hard to see him having a large impact when so much of the lineup is a dead zone. Not really anyone in the minors who can provide a spark either. Maybe Gittens at first? Can't be worse than Ford. And I guess Florial can't be worse than Gardner.
  13. Lately if Judge isn't hitting then the offense ain't scoring. 5 guys in the lineup right now hitting under .200
  14. And Voit back on the IL. Both he and Kluber look to miss at least a month. Guess the trainers that got fired last season were just scapegoats. Health is a skill, and a lot of these guys just don't have it.
  15. I wish there was video, just so I can know how that's possible.
  16. I don't think anyone has said such. All 3 teams are playing good ball right now, and whoever can sustain it the longest will be the one to pull away. Of course my money is on the Yankees being that team, but things can change quickly. We shall see.
  17. Also yesterday's game's umpire rating is below. Based on all three of these the Yankees got the worse calls in every game this series. https://twitter.com/UmpScorecards/status/1396849300697661445/photo/1
  18. Sure we'll see. Also for anyone who thinks a game is umped unfairly, this independent twitter account grades the umpire's accuracy for every MLB game: They have not released yesterday's game ratings yet but here are the first two: https://twitter.com/UmpScorecards/status/1396515669613682691/photo/1 (the Cease game you referred to) https://twitter.com/UmpScorecards/status/1396118697249542147/photo/1
  19. The Yankees lead the league in GIDPs this season. So who is unlucky? And the half inning before the triple play the Yankees had two men on and one out, and Voit hit a 107MPH rocket right at the third baseman for a double play. Does that not count as unlucky? You choose to see what you want to see.
  20. That is pretty terrible. Annoying Rays are annoying.
  21. True, and I think the Yankees are 1-6 in games this season when going for the sweep.
  22. Lol were you only watching the White Sox bat? Ump was calling strikes on pitches 6 inches off the plate for both sides. So yes inconsistent, but not one sided. You're starting to sound a little concerned though. Do the White Sox suck now since the Yanks are beating them up?
  23. Pretty crazy game. Rodon and Montgomery combine for 13 innings, 0 runs, 6 hits, 0 walks, and 24 Ks. Yanks fail to score in the bottom of the 8th with 1st and 3rd nobody out (another out on the bases and double play wtf!). Very deflating, then Chapman lets the first two runners on in the 9th so it's starting to feel a little hopeless. But a triple play (can't remember the last one I saw the Yankees turn) gets them out of the inning, and spirits are elated again. Then the walk off in the bottom half seals it. Exhausting game, but very memorable
  24. Pitching has been good but everything else has been trash. On offense seems like the majority of their contact is either on the ground or pop-ups. They made 3 outs on the bases today and hit into two more double plays. They lead the league in outs on the basepaths (20) and are currently on pace to hit into 173 DPs this season (which would tie the all time record I believe).
  25. Ah so then I'm facing you this week. I thought my team was looking pretty good yesterday afternoon until they went 3 for 30 at the plate and then got a no-hitter thrown against us.
