  1. At least the Packers won Moon. That was an awesome ending.
  2. The thing is that Cortes isn't a true starter. More like a long reliever. Typically 80-90 pitches is his max. You could see he was tiring out that inning and missing location.
  3. Being forced to root for the Rays AND Mets is torture.
  4. Nice to see Severino finally make it back to the bigs, it's been a long road for him. The odds of the Yankees both making it to the wild card game and then winning it aren't too favorable, BUT if they are able to advance then their rotation and bullpen should be setup well (assuming no new injuries or setbacks). The only two starters on the Yanks who I'd have be actual starters in the POs (meaning that they'd go through the order more than twice) are Cole and Montgomery. I'd then have Kluber/Taillon/Cortes/German as 3 inning pitchers and have them piggyback off each other. Adding Severino and King to the bullpen gives them two more high leverage/multi-inning options. Now all they have to do is win these next 10 games
  5. He got off to a terrible start but has been better lately: Last 2 weeks: .244/.348/.756
  6. Yanks were lucky to win the series. Their offense is punchless when it counts, as evidenced by 13 baserunners but only 2 runs, as well as getting shutout the final 8 innings of the game by a bunch of scrubs. The Blue Jays scored like 40 runs against these guys just last week.
  7. Regardless of how much we're sucking we can always count on the twins to suck worse.
  8. At least he only walked one guy this time
  9. Funnily enough they lead the AL with the lowest team ERA. Don't think that'll last though.
  10. Even when the Yankees were looking bad early in the year, they didn't look THIS bad. I guess it's just an instant correction of that 13 game winning streak.
  11. On a positive note, they scored more than 1 run last night.
  12. Not in the AL East. The biggest one I see is vs Seattle: Yanks vs Mariners: 5-2 Rays vs Mariners: 1-6
  13. And that's essentially what the Rays lead over the Yankees comes down to. Rays vs O's: 18-1 Yanks vs O's: 9-7 Granted it's difficult to go 18-1 versus even the worst team, but if the Yanks could have kept pace against those stiffs then they would still have a shot at the East.
  14. Ryu's command was near flawless today, I don't remember the last time I saw a pitcher consistently hit the for corners of the strike zone all game long. Would've been hard for any team to hit him. But in any case the Yanks are clearly slumping right now in all phases, especially the bullpen. I'm hoping we'll see Gil replace Heaney (pipe dream I know) and King/Schmidt replace Kriske/Velazquez.
  15. I think it's time they cut bait with Heaney. Aside from this one start versus Boston he's been complete dog s***.
  16. Also Yanks have hit into 5 DPs through 7 innings. Just feels like one of those games where nothing goes right.
  17. Probably need to skip Taillon's next start. He's at 127 innings pitched coming off of TJS, and it seems to be showing lately.
  18. After 3 straight hits and already having thrown 50 pitches, I don't know why nobody was warming up. Especially when Boone himself said Kluber had about a 60-70 pitch limit. Next guy nearly hit it out to dead center but was caught at the track. Still nobody warming up after that. Walks the next guy. Still nobody warming up. Grand slam on the very next pitch. Bad management there by Boone when it was clear Kluber was gassed.
  19. I don't know who to root against!
  20. The thing with tides is that they change quickly. Who knows how the farm systems will look this time next season. And when your big league team is good you're supposed to use your farm to supplement it, either by promotions or trades. Anyway I feel like we're both saying nothing at this point and I've had too many drinks to continue typing on my phone. Cheers mate!
  21. Whitlock was coming off an injury but did not have a long history as far as I can remember. Yanks thought they could sneak him through the rule 5 draft but obviously wasn't the case. And if after one start we're gonna annoint Otto the next great pitcher the Yanks missed out on, then is Gil the second coming of Nolan Ryan?
  22. Otto was a solid prospect. Good stuff, but super long injury history. He could be good, but let's see if he can stay healthy.
  23. Going up against the old version of Sale in the wild card game is a scary thought. He still hasn't pitched against a good offense, or gone deep into a game yet, so we'll see if he is truly back to form.
  24. Hate west coast trips, they're bad for my sleep schedule
  25. That was quite stressful
