  1. A sweep would've been nice but taking 2 out of 3 on the road is fine. If they can keep winning series then they can get back into it, but the problem has been that they've followed every long winning streak with an equally long losing streak. The Yanks have 8 games against Boston, 3 against Tampa, and 3 against Houston coming up. To me this is their last chance to show that they can contend this season and maybe convince Cashman to buy at the deadline. I don't think going .500 in these series will be good enough, and if they flop completely then they may even sell at the deadline.
  2. Not sure how that Bauer thing will play out. It started out as consensual and they were both allegedly into choking/bondage/etc., but she alleged that he went too far in the bedroom.
  3. Not sure if it's spider tack related since his spin rates are still the same. Maybe he was using something else for grip like sunscreen though. In either case, Chapman has had a rough patch like this almost every season where we think he's done and then he returns to form. I'd expect the same. Just sucks when it's happening.
  4. Pitiful series. At least the first two games were close, but yesterday was embarrassing. If this happened in August I might say the Yanks are toast, but still a lot of baseball to be played. Can the team turn it around? They keep giving us a glimpse of what they could be, and then they fall flat on their faces when they have a chance to get close in the division. I'll still be watching, but every passing week I find myself a little more interested in their farm and a little less interested in the actual MLB team.
  5. These past two games remind me of the Yankees team earlier in the season. You'll lose more games than you'll win scoring 3 and 2 runs. They missed their chance to knock around Perez on Friday, then Boston's bullpen held them down the rest of the game. Eovaldi was good yesterday but not unhittable, the Yanks just couldn't string hits together (if only we could've gotten like 3 consecutive infield hits!).
  6. Gamecast says game is delayed. What's going on?
  7. People are too thin skinned. Words should not lead to violence.
  8. At least the offense bailed them out in the bottom of the inning. Would've been impossible for this team two weeks ago.
  9. I typically feel like managers don't have a huge impact on the game and it's up to the players to perform, but that was ridiculously stupid of Boone to have Chapman walk the bases loaded when he was already showing bad command. And it's not like it was Mike Trout he was putting on base, it was Carlos f***in Santana. So of course Chapman walks the next guy on 4 pitches to tie the game. And then gives up a check swing infield single to lose the lead for good measure. Why do I like baseball again?
  10. Wow that's BS. But I guess the league refusing to correct mistakes makes it more realistic.
  11. Lol you sure you love it? Sox starters have a 6.37 ERA since June 12th (when MLB said they planned to enforce these rules).
  12. 3 HRs covered up their shortcomings in situational hitting. But the Yanks had multiple chances to blow the game open and failed each time. It was one of those games that felt like the Yankees were killing them but then you look up at the scoreboard and they're only up by one. And of course that came back to bite them. Wade's defense didn't help Loaisaga either (bad throw to 1st would have been the second out and, and then the following batter hit an easy grounder that he hesitated on and got no one out).
  13. 0-10 with RISP. That's all you need to know about that game.
  14. I'm gonna have to win like 8 outta the next 10 weeks to have a shot at the playoffs. Should be easy.
  15. Can't remember the last singular play with so many bad baserunning mistakes. That was embarrassing, but awesome for us!
  16. Only difference is that Bird was a real prospect. But yes also similar situation.
  17. Maybe Ford will become the new Choi. Both Quad-A, lefty first basemen who had small measures of success but couldn't stick around with the Yanks. I won't be mad if Ford turns things around though, if he has a chance to play elsewhere he should take it since he's almost 30.
  18. Crazy ass series so far. Who needs pitching.
  19. It's not like the Yanks aren't capable of going on a nice run with their current team. They had a stretch where they went 23-9 while winning series against Houston, Tampa, and Chicago. But for whatever reason they get into these funks where seemingly everything goes wrong for them. I think they should stand pat at the deadline and either they figure things out and make the playoffs, or they continue to flounder and Boone (hopefully) gets canned.
  20. Probably because it's the Twins. They were mathematically due to win a game against us. If we had lost like this to the Sox/Rays/Astros though I'd definitely be enraged.
  21. Not much to say about this game. Yanks controlled the whole game, but Chapman didn't have anything tonight. It happens.
  22. Nice bet, I'm sure that was a great adrenaline rush for you.
  23. What should be the takeaway from this article? To me the change in the baseball is probably the single biggest reason that the offensive numbers have plunged leaguewide. I'm sure pitchers using foreign substances is contributing as well, but it's not like this is the first year that pitchers started using it. They were using them in 2019 when the league wide HR record was shattered. Getting a better grip on the ball can only help you so much, but making the ball heavier and making the seams more pitcher-friendly seem to coincide with what is happening this season.
  24. Cole's spin rates were more in line with his 2020-21 averages yesterday, but still slightly down. I don't know much about this stuff but I'm guessing slight variations between starts is normal, same as how velocity can vary game to game.
