  1. Yanks administer a thorough beating and the Rangers take a 2-0 lead against the defending champs. Very satisfying sports night.
  2. Mets fans believe that every year, then the team falters in the second half of the season and misses the playoffs. It's tradition.
  3. Where are those rankings from?
  4. He'll probably get something along the lines of what Lindor got. I'd say 10 yr/$350M
  5. They haven't even been that bad during this mini losing streak. Sevy/Taillon combined to pitch 14 innings and give up 1 run in the doubleheader. And they were in it for all 3 games. My hope is that all of the Donaldson BS isn't creating a distraction, and that the spike in hurt/sick players this week goes away
  6. They should have hit Cueto in game 1. Had some opportunities but didn't capitalize. In game 2 though Kopech was filthy, I actually thought the Yankees were going to get no-hit. If he stays healthy and can continue to control the strike zone like he did yesterday he's gonna be a top 5 pitcher in baseball.
  7. I'm sure you feel like how we felt during 2018. I kept expecting the Sox to stop winning but it never happened. TBD on if this continues for the Yankees. But I remember that feeling you speak of.
  8. I feel like there's different sets of baseballs in play any given game. They have the deadened ones, the ones with higher seams, the ones that give the ball an extra 10 feet of distance off the bat, and maybe something new this season. And they'll randomly pick one to use in a game.
  9. Yanks only need to play .500 ball the rest of the way to finish with 90 wins. I know the season isn't won in May, but a start like this sure makes the rest of the season a lot easier.
  10. Also it's weird that I'm going up against the same team two weeks in a row. The schedule in general seems kinda odd, I play some teams 3 times this season and others only once.
  11. It just reflects the reality of Yanks vs Sox this season
  12. That ump should work on Altuve's injury. Win-win.
  13. Peralta was big for us down the stretch last year, and besides that one bad outing against the O's he's been fine so far. I have more faith in him than Miguel Castro. And anyway he's like the #7 reliever in the BP so we don't need anyone great for that role. That said if they get a good offer for him they should take it because they're loaded in the BP, but I wouldn't just give him away. Injuries happen and he's good depth.
  14. Holmes' stuff hasn't changed much since joining the Yankees. He just had no command until he got to NY (6.4 BB/9 in Pit vs 1.4 BB/9 in NY) and that's really been the difference. He's still only thrown 40 total innings with the Yankees, and its entirely possible he could revert back to his former "no-command" self.
  15. Good times right now. Three sweeps in a row of bad teams, but now time to see if they can continue this level of play against playoff caliber teams.
  16. I get what you're saying, but if the majority of the league was doing it prior to 2017 (which was likely the case, otherwise why send a letter to the whole league rather than just address it with specific teams) then at least teams were on an even playing field. Looking back at it now though, I wonder if Sanchez was so good in his first year because of this.
  17. It's behind a paywall so I can't read it, but I imagine since this is from a Houston paper they whine about how they were unfairly treated. The big difference in what happened is that the Yankees did this is 2015 and 2016 before there were strict rules. MLB sent out their letter to the league in 2017, and despite that letter the Astros and the Red Sox (to a much lesser degree) disobeyed those rules. There was nothing in the letter that wasn't already public knowledge.
  18. This probably won't be how it looks by the end of the season, but 2021 free agent SS acquisitions so far: Isiah Kiner Falefa ($4.7M 2022 salary): 119 wRC+ Jose Iglesias ($5M): 99 wRC+ Corey Seager ($33M): 88 wRC+ Carlos Correa ($35.1M): 74 wRC+ Trevor Story ($20M): 59 wRC+
  19. Has a team ever been no-hit through 9 innings and still won? Pretty wild.
  20. At least IKF has settled in. Huge game for him, hope he keeps it up.
  21. The only good part about Gallo on the Yankees is being able to reference My Cousin Vinny every time he strikes out. "I'm Joey Callo. You thought you were trading for Gallo?"
  22. It was a weird outing for Cole. He stuck out 3 batters in the 1st inning, then had like a 40 minute wait before pitching the 2nd inning. Not that it's an excuse, an ace should be able to overcome adverse situations. But even in the 2nd he managed to get to 2 strikes on everyone he walked, but just couldn't put anyone away. My level of worry about Cole right now is probably a 4 out of 10, if this continues then obviously I'll be more alarmed. But over decades of watching baseball I've learned not to put a lot of stock in April numbers.
  23. Not sure how it's Boone's fault that their $300M pitcher walked 4 guys in one inning.
  24. Those O's are tough.......
  25. It's very early and this list could change quickly, but my order of bullpen confidence is as follows (0 = no confidence, 10 = supreme confidence): Loaisaga (9) Holmes (8) King (8) Green (7) Luetge (7) Peralta (6) Chapman (5) Castro (5) Schmidt (5) Marinaccio (3) Sears (3) If we continue to have this many solid bullpen options I can see the Yanks trying to trade Green at some point this season.
