  1. Peraza + Voit (and eating Voit's salary) for Montas comes pretty close per BTV. And sounds like something that would interest both clubs.
  2. Screw all those vendors, wanting to get paid on time n s***. Net30 means 30 days from when I feel like paying.
  3. Full season of Rizzo at 1st will also boost the defense
  4. I'm in, so is my friend Alex who was in it last season (Renegade BX Bombers or whatever dumbshit team name he had).
  5. I still think the Yanks will try to sign Rizzo, and if they are strictly abiding by the LT threshold then they'll try to move someone to clear cap space. Some combination of A Chapman/Voit/Chad Green maybe?
  6. He's probably not a viable option at 3B anymore, his UZR/150 last season -19.4. Pretty terrible. I do like the addition of IKF but overall I feel like the trade didn't net a lot for the amount of payroll they took on. And now they might use that as an excuse for not signing anyone.
  7. Can Donaldson even play the field anymore? Sure his bat is a plus but he's a redundant player (old, injury prone, right handed, 1B/DH).
  8. I'm assuming this move is a prelude to either another trade or signing, so I'll reserve my judgment. If not then wtf.
  9. No more Sanchez to rip on. Guess Gallo will have to do.
  10. That is a very good roster assuming good health and bounce back years from DJ/Torres. But I'll assume the opposite since that's just how things go
  11. There's still like 4 months of offseason left. You can almost guarantee the roster will different by the time ST starts
  12. Not a bad move. He's a high injury risk but could be a legit starter.
  13. I'd like the Yankees to get Seager but from what I'm reading it seems like a less than 10% chance he ends up with the Yanks. That being the case, I'd just like a capable shortstop who can also hit regardless of which side of the plate he stands on. Story fits that mold and theoretically shouldn't cost as much as everyone else. Lefties at other positions such as first base or OF are easier to come by. Joc Pederson could be had for pretty cheap. Or they could go big and sign Freddie Freeman. Point is that the SS doesn't have to be lefty.
  14. There's still a lot of quality FAs left. Looking at the deals that were given out, there aren't any that I'd say the Yanks missed out on. Sure I'd like Scherzer but that price was crazy high. Correa is probably the best remaining player who fills the biggest need for the Yanks, but the guy is a douche. Maybe the Yanks can get Story on a cheaper deal and I'd be okay with that. Also Seiya Suzuki from Japan has an interesting profile and seems like he has a good chance for success in the MLB so I'd be cool with going after him, though corner OF isn't high on the list of needs. I'm sure Cashman will splurge on something, hopefully it's not a long term deal with Rizzo.
  15. I guess they had to settle for Wacha after missing out on Heaney.
  16. Yeah, besides his speed there's nothing special about him. But he's a good defender who plays multiple positions, and when he played regularly he actually looked like a decent player.
  17. Mildly surprised that they got rid of Wade. Maybe some team will play him everyday and he'll end up being decent.
  18. Not sure that would help his HRs though since he hits so many line drives (as evidenced by the 3 line drives he hit during the WC game that would have been HRs in YS).
  19. Not cheap, but maybe frugal is a better word. He sets a budget and adheres to it. The lone advantage the Yankees have over every other org (besides maybe Boston and LA) is their huge market and the amount of money they bring in, and since there is no salary cap they could conceivably field a team of all-stars. Now I'm not suggesting that they need to do that, but to see us trading away real prospects and useful pieces at the trade deadline just to have other teams eat like an extra $1M is irritating. If they did that to reset the luxury tax penalty then that means this season they should be spending to win. We'll see.
  20. They must think they can unlock some hidden potential, otherwise I don't know how he is worth more than like $3M.
  21. The best team doesn't always win, but the one that plays the best when it matters does. Good for the Braves. And f*** the Astros.
  22. f*** the Astros. Astros in 5.
  23. Everyone wants to feel like they're a victim nowadays. You're right, it's a sick mentality that I'm seeing more and more of (not just in relation to the Astros). Hope they get swept, but my gut is telling me they'll win in 5.
  24. Welcome to the eliminated club. I don't think there are enough hours to watch all of the Yankees Classics in one offseason.
