  1. Not true. Oddsmakers also have to take into account the amount of money bet. The Cubs, for example, used to get odds better than usual because they received a significant and disproportional amount of the bets relative to their talent. The Yankees often see the same. And this makes sense. The only purpose of odds is to increase wagering on underdogs. If people are already willingly betting on them, why increase the payouts?
  2. True. And Net Saves takes away some of their value…
  3. I like the QS category over wins. It actually makes pitchers on some of the lesser teams a little more appealing. Sure the “ace” of the Pirates (whoever that is) won’t rack up more than 10 or 11 wins, but he might be able to go 6 with 3 ER more often. The downside is if you have a trigger-happy manager with the bullpen and yanks your starter after 5 shutout innings. I’m looking at you, Kevin Cash…
  4. I like some of the categories that emphasize what type of pitchers I need. QS and Net Saves make for wholly different strategies than Wins and Saves…
  5. The Yankees are one Gerrit Cole elbow twinge away from having a rotation that has more question marks than post-game press conference…
  6. Gashouse Gorillas. It’s from Bugs Bunny…
  7. What are you saying? That players who have career years right before free agency aren’t consistent performers?
  8. The only reason anyone ranks Sanchez as sixth on that staff is the injuries. It’s like calling Sale the Sox sixth starter. (Also, “Sox sixth starter” is a nasty, nasty tongue twister. Try saying it 10 times fast. Go ahead. I dare you.)
  9. France has had one full season. And even then, his fWAR is skewed because of multiple defensive positions. As valuable than Konerko? Ok, I can accept that. Similar to Konerko? No. Not yet…
  10. So now you have no excuse for missing it
  11. Unless you compare ages and offensive and defensive components of fWAR…
  12. Apparently he was a better pitcher than I remember…
  13. So France is as good as Kinerko was after age and decline set in? That he kept a similar pace for just over 10% of the same duration doesn’t make them equal. Jose Iglesias had a 6 game hitting streak last year. Does that mean he is comparable to Joe DiMaggio?
  14. ZIPS also lists the number one comp for Ty France as Paul Konerko, so maybe an occasional grain of salt is needed…
  15. Maybe it’s AI has developed taste? Did you know Netflix has codes you can search by? https://www.netflix-codes.com/
  16. I’m surprised a lot of teams didn’t. Unless he is a physical wreck…
  17. Also if Tampa had a chance to trade for quality prospects, then a deal with Boston makes more sense. It allows them to better their future while simultaneously weakening Boston’s (if only a little). But this looks like a straight salary dump, so why help Boston at all?
  18. It is possible that Isaac Paredes, whose minor league OPS is some .100 better than Arauz, was considered the better of the two by Tampa…
  19. I would think so, but it would require a DFA for someone. Also is Ralph Garza on the radar? One has to wonder why Danish and Garza were placed on the 40 man ahead of Robles. Could be a simple decision to add as many arms as possible. Or it could mean Robles isn’t expected to be ready…
  20. By staying sober? It was a Netflix movie, which means no advertisement and the only hype is if someone on Yahoo writes an article about it…
  21. Souza is so fragile that he could get injured just by being traded…
  22. All prize money goes to funding more pics of Elizabeth Hurley in her incredibly vast collection of bikinis…
  23. John Wasdin. Not Mike…
