  1. I think many still want Dalbec benched or demoted. I’d demote him if it was up to me. But that’s more related to Kike’s return, keeping Duran in the lineup, and not DFAing Franchy…
  2. If the Sox DFA a reliever at the deadline, Sawamura is certainly a candidate…
  3. Horseback? Her name was Margo…
  4. We need more December baseball!!
  5. Taillon is not exactly a bastion of durability, either. Ditto Montgomery….
  6. The thing is, replacing Gallo’s bat should be fairly simple. Replacing his glove much less so. The Yankees might find they’re better off just batting him 8th and letting him secure RF, something Benintendi or Peralta will not be able to do. (Sure, Judge can and probably would move to RF, but is weakening both corner OF poisons defensively really worth the offensive upgrade that 3 or 4 PAs per game would provide?) As horrific as his offense has been, moving Gallo might not be the improvement the Yankees want. Pitching depth to handle injuries more easily might make more sense…
  7. I’d love Josh Bell. But despite his recent 4 for 28 slump, I think this offense is helped by Duran. And unlike Bell, Duran is already here. If the Sox do acquire a 1b, then Dalbec is absolutely a candidate for demotion. That situation also would make Duran one upon the activation of Kike. But if the Sox don’t acquire a 1b, Kike is probably their best defensive option despite his minimal experience at the position…
  8. Or they could use Kike there. And if Franchy is Dr. Strangeglove, what’s Dalbec? Dr. Pretty Weird Glove? “Better defensively than Cordero” doesn’t automatically equate to Keith Hernandez. There’s a really, really big gray area in there…
  9. Why not demote Dalbec? He can also be recalled and doesn’t need to be exposed to waivers…
  10. Fans want consistency. I have no idea what they mean by that…
  11. NZ? Wow! Long trip for a game. Glad the Sox made it worth it for you!
  12. Ok. That’s the new leader…
  13. Home plate umping does mean deciding if a 95-100mph pitch touched any part of an invisible box of varying size. If you’ve upped even Little League, you know it ain’t easy. And that’s why MLB needs Angel Hernandez. His sole purpose is to make all the other umps look better…
  14. Should part of this message include Cora taking over 1b? Also, I don’t think sending him to his room without any supper is appropriate for plate discipline, especially against a very tough albeit struggling pitcher…
  15. That might be the closest thing to a positive comment I’ve ever seen you make. It’s still not one. It’s still pretty negative. But I think it’s the closest…
  16. Especially when facing triple digit fastballs…
  17. Seriously? You don’t think velocity matters for how much time a hitter has to decide to swing at a pitch?!?
  18. Why? It’s not real shameful to swing and miss a 99mph fastball that he probably had to make a decision on before it left Chapman’s hand…
  19. It was 101 mph!! I know those two Dalbec chased were just 99mph. Probably changeups…
  20. 23 of Verdugo’s 40 RBI this year (total not counting the 6 times Verdugo has driven in himself) have been from driving in Bogaerts and Martinez…
  21. I’ll be happy with one. If things go right, we do have Whitlock and German to help back there, too. And now Ort is on the 40 man
  22. Is it the Apocalypse!??!!?
  23. But with no August 31 waiver deals anymore, being pro-active isn’t the worst idea. Otherwise the season could be derailed by a couple of sore triceps on August 3rd…
