  1. That’s the thing. It’s actually weird. Ive seen some theorize they all just gave up because the Sox didn’t spend enough money, but that’s just nonsense. It’s really projecting from ppl that wanted to see them spend more. At some point, that logic implies some player or players gave up because they are upset that they were not replaced as starters. Really? Think anyone starting for any team in MLB ever has ever thought “if ownership really wanted to win, they shouldn’t rely on me to help at all. They need to replace me AND FAST.” Or they throw teammates under the bus. “This team doesn’t want to win. Otherwise why would they let Andy start. He’s f***ing horrible. I quit.”
  2. I would have thought bottom 10 surprising, but not insane. Bottom 3? No way. The Sox lineup might look light to some, but it wouldn’t have been hard to find 7 or 8 that looked even lighter…
  3. And if they were 19, we’d probably be .500 or better. They just limited a Philly to 6 runs in a 3 game series and lost twice…
  4. They were a top 8 offense last year after Devers was dealt (in RPG, anyway). Subtract Bregman, add the equally productive Contreras, and theyre bottom 3 in RPG…
  5. We can call you that if it helps…
  6. Well, Mr. Brightside is more about jealousy and a perceived affair taking over the singer’s thoughts to obsessive levels. He wasn’t enjoying anything through perverse activities as much as he simply couldn’t let go of the idea.
  7. In Florida rap circles, he is known as MC P78…
  8. Hit hard hit rate and exit velocity are in the 90% range. Plus his line drive rate is up over last year, while his GB and FB rates are both down, but his BABIP is way down. While last year’s.404 BABIP was probably unsustainable, tjis still screams “unlucky” loud enough to be heard at both poles simultaneously…
  9. If the current hitters were performing as expected, this team is rivaling NY and Tampa…
  10. Sometimes “i dont know” is the correct answer…
  11. Out of curiousity, does the chap who says players over 33 don’t have good WAR also bemoan the Sox for not signing Kyle Schwarber?
  12. Reportedly they’re not big fans of yours either…
  13. Chapman was worth 3.7 fWAR/4.1 bWAR last season. Story and Yoshida (surplus value -$56mill) for Chapman and Adames (-$56.6mill). Almost perfect on BTV. Who says no?
  14. And highlighted his scouting expertise that was able to spot All Star talent solely using the time-honored technique of waiting to see who made the All Star team and then scouting them…
  15. Maybe but you probably watched “The Comeback” on Netflix. Henry was clear about in game decisions hen in the 2003 ALCS, at one point he said of Little “Can we just fire him now?”
  16. Act quickly. He changes them a lot. Maybe you can buy a subscription?
  17. Min wage. More years of control. And while Paredes looks like a Fenway Fit, most teams don’t play at Fenway…
  18. And was very hate-filled to lots of groups of people. Whatever I think of Old Red, Ive never considered him a bigot…
  19. Having once read softlaw’s self-glorifying blog, no. Softlaw assumed he knew more than the media and the Sox FO about the team. You don’t get that from Old Red…
  20. Breslow as a person is a whole issue I won’t embrace because I don’t listen to him speak and after-the-fact stories can be edited to make anyone look anyway the writer wants (assuming a moderately talented writer). But as a CBO, I don’t accuse him of ignoring the offense. He made changes that haven’t worked, but that’s not the same thing. Certainly he paid attention to pitching and defense, and did so successfully. But - and I would apologize for the redundancy but I’m not actually sorry - he clearly ignored the bullpen , which is the part of the staff giving up runs…
  21. I think he’s a new one. Theyre are lots of annoying freaks out there and that guy clings to snd justifies useless old stats like none before him…
  22. Those one and two year deals don’t bother me. They’re hit or miss, but it’s usually just a singular miss at worst. Plus if the team flops, they can become tradable assets if they’re doing ok. But I labeled Price as a disaster before the ink dried…
