  1. I like him as a hitter, although he hasn’t been as much as I hoped for. If he gets demoted for performance reasons, I would hope Japanese players understand they have to keep their jobs. It’s not like Dominican players stared avoiding Boston after they released Pablo and Hanley. The “problem” with Yoshida is, he’s actually too good to demote. That and many fans want to give a portion of his salary to someone else, who fans will undoubtedly want to pay someone else to take away in a couple years. In 2024, Yoshida had an .825 OPS in mid-August before he fell off a cliff. Probably when his shoulder tear happened. If he is going to give an .825 OPS, he should just be in the DH mix…
  2. I like Helsley over Williams. But Helsley probably wants to close. Maybe a multiyear deal at closer money and he takes over the role next year or, if Chapman loses it, even sooner…
  3. He changed it to Avogadro’s number back in ‘19…
  4. And Casas at 1b? If he’s healthy, he makes for a good solution. If…
  5. I liked King, but he’s hard to commit to long term and he has a QO attached…
  6. Why not just send Yoshida to Worcester and keep the prospects?
  7. No on Torres, especially with the QO. Polanco and Kim are both good choices….
  8. Fans are much more willing to throw around $400mill than Henry is. I didn’t bring up the $400mill, but if Skubal hits free agency, bidding starts at $333 over 9. Topping that $36mill AAV that Cole has will become a factor for some reason…
  9. Why would Detroit do that? I’d think they just take the prospects and wish Boston luck. If Boston backs out, call the Mets. Call the Dodgers. Call the Yankees…
  10. I’d think Skubal’s price was similar to Kyle Tucker - maybe a bit higher since Tucker has 0 Cy Youngs and doesn’t pitch.
  11. There are many who think $100million over the previous high is not A LITTLE crazy.
  12. I don’t think Crochet was an unknown. The White Sox liked him enough to make him a first round pick and the Red Sox liked him enough to give up two top 50 prospects. As fans, Crochet didnt have the track record we like, but that’s not the same as being unknown…
  13. I do think Boras abides by the rules. He gains nothing by telling Boston a number and potentially weakens his position in this case…
  14. The Sox certainly wouldn’t be able to hold him to anything…
  15. That’s part of any trade, and not the same as just having an off-the-record conversation with Boras, which was what the post was alluding to. It’s also not done much any more, if at all..,
  16. Using Campbell to offset Yoshida works on BTV, but any team taking that on is still commited to $86mill for those two players…
  17. Bregman’s leverage will come from competing offers regardless of where Mayer plays. Especially since Bregman himself has never insisted on it being 3b or bust…
  18. Anthony’s service time is a moot point, since he signed an extension…
  19. I think if Boras did that, it might constitute tampering…
  20. Have him put to sleep and split the beers up 8 ways instead of 9. Math works out better this way anyway…
  21. No team could ever make the postseason with a bat like that at 1b! Well, except San Diego…
  22. They’re both weak vs LHP. Also, neither should be platooned…
  23. Sorry for fostering the discussion. And since you’re countering a specific question, vague answers are unacceptable. Which prospects?
  24. I hope the Sox can hold on to Early. It won’t be long before he is outpitching Ryan. That can be interpreted two ways…
