    Thats only one part of a bench player’s job, and IKF can do that. Yoshida is a better option than Eaton’s for giving outfielders a day off and a better long term replace than Eaton should someone get hurt…

    The Sox didn’t acquire Gray because they had Fitts; they acquired Gray because St. Louis wanted to move as much money as possible. If another team was willing to assume more money, they would have easily acquired Gray and probably parted with a lesser pitcher…

    And yet you repeatedly compare the Sox to those teams? Also those other teams occasionally fail doing the “hey let’s throw more money at it” method of team-building. It’s a risk that needs to be acknowledged, and no amount of due diligence removes it…

    I look at it this way. In the first series, we will very likely face two LHPs - Nick Lodolo and Andrew Abbott. Lodolo is one of the nastiest LHPs in MLB, and Abbott looks like an up and coming star himself. These may not be the types of LHPs you can solve merely by adding Romy Gonzalez to your lineup. Romy has his uses against the bulk of the LHPs in MLB. But the creme de la creme did not get to be so elite by struggling against mediocre right-handed hitters.. After Abbott, the Sox face Houston and San Diego, both of whom appear to have no LHPs in their rotations.

    If only the Sox weren’t so cheap and Breslow spent his money properly, like other teams, so that Boston, too, could have $72mill tied up in Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon. Angels’ fans are so lucky to have a team run the right way!

    Not even close. In his career, Tayron Guerrero has walked 5.7 BB/9, which is pretty bad. But Darwinzon Hernandez had a career 7.8 BB/9, which has to be among the worst of all time…

    Where is your data from? If you use the 2024 team valuation against the Sox 2025 payroll (as they didnt have any 2025 revenue yet, or at a minimum the picture was incomplete), the Sox rank 11th in percentage of revenue (per Forbes) spent on payroll (per Sportra)…

    1. It’s old data. 2. Thr range absolutely matters. As does the teams below them. Where are the Yankees and Dodgers on this list? If the 23rd highest percentage is spending, say, 15% on the roster, what percentage does the top team spend? If it’s 17-19%, what exactly are you holding against them? I’d like to see this ranking. I bet the higher revenue teams are mostly in the lower third, just like Boston…

    Sure he saw something in Song when he drafted him multiple years ago - but he also should have been aware 1) Song had not pitched in multiple seasons and 2) he would have to keep a pitcher out of the game for multiple years on an MLB roster for a full season while attempting to compete for an NL East title. Now maybe he tried to work out a trade to keep Song, which would have made sense, and really, was the ONLY course of action that made sense. But if he tried, he never successfully enticed Bloom. So then DD stubbornly proceeded to burn Song out in minutes and set his career back a couple years…

    Without numbers, that’s just some shock value. Can we say data on who is above and below and how tight that range is? Also you’ve been using it along time through multiple acquisitions. Is it even accurate anymor?
