  1. He did demolish 3 minor league levels the year before. Why is that less important than ST? At a minimum, he showed he belonged above AAA…
  2. Actually, there is a chance he is handed a position. For all the “they gave him an MLB spot to justify the contract talk,” the Sox didnt give him that contract based on numbers they pull out of a hat. He had an unprecedented run through the minors and impressed at every stop along the way. The notion that he was just handed everything is ridiculous. Yes, Campbell had a terrible spring training, but maybe (re: clearly) ST isn’t the tryout many think it is…
  3. Brad? Sure. Mitch? Absolutely not…
  4. What we don’t know is how much of keeping him in Worcester was related to defense?
  5. He did win AL Rookie of the Month in April…
  6. Barring injury or unforeseen trade, I think it’s 100% likely he is in the lineup and I would bet on it. It seems like quite often the standards of fans exceed the standards of FO personnel filling out the roster…
  7. Yeah he really needed that change of scenery to shine…
  8. Not without really good blackmail on Royals’ CBO JJ Picollo. Witt is signed for like 11 more years with a &26mill AAV. They’re not looking to trade him…
  9. Duran and Bello, and then you can eliminate Crochet. That also puts Boston at the 6 player limit on the website…
  10. Not really. On BTV, if you eliminate Anthony , Duran and Abreu, you cannot acquire Witt without including Crochet. And even then, the package is Crochet, Mayer, Early, Bello and Password for Witt…
  11. It makes one wonder why an MLB team gave Hicks that eight figure contract to begin with. (sarcasm)
  12. Not even Roman Anthony? Do you really think KC trades a perennial MVP candidate on a long term contract for a handful of controlled bottom-of-the-order hitters?
  13. Not really. A couple good catching prospects. And a bunch of pitching prospects either worse than what Boston already has or too far away to predict beyond wild guesses…
  14. Breslow seemed happy to acquire Hicks. I’m on Team Yoshida. I expect both in Boston…
  15. Of course I checked out BTV. Singer has a surplus value of $10.7mill, which is below the value of any Sox MLB outfielder. Closest is Garcia ($16.9) and no one really knows if the Reds want him, since they have OF prospects, too. A fair deal for Gore is two from Tolle, Arias, and Campbell. Expect them to insist on Tolle…
  16. Alcantara is an injured mess. While the Sox have the depth to cover him, I can understand passing. Both Singer and Gore have been worth 7.3 fWAR over the past 3 years, tied for 42nd in MLB for pitchers with 150 IP or more in that time. Singer might be the dirt cheap unsexy name that is actually fairly underrated. Only one year is an issue, however. And despite feeling he might be underappreciated, not sure how I feel about an extension…
  17. Maybe. When was the last time we got that guy?
  18. I want wild about out it either. KC seems like a reach as a partner…
  19. I think Story and Mayer/Romy handle two positions. 1b is the easiest place to buy a solution, whether it’s a big contract like Alonso or a lesser one like Hoskins or Bell. And as big contracts go, Alonso is likely to be cheaper than Bregman or Bichette, I assume him to be a fairly likely option. That leaves one 2b/3b to fill. Unlike most, I do not expect a second big contract in the infield. A trade for a player like Marte works certainly. But I expect something more like a trade for Alec Bohm or a second tier FA (Polanco? Kim?) is probably more likely. Both Bregman and Bichette is not happening. The Sox are not demoting Mayer. Even if he is hurt, a stopgap infielder is far more likely. You don’t commit 8 years to Bo Bichette because your top prospect is out for 6 weeks…
  20. While I love Paredes at Fenway, bear in mind most of those pepper off the monster rather over it. Hes got some line drive in that swing. Ive mentioned him before, but Houston reportedly has no interest in moving him…
  21. I do, too. But I was writing a joke about him in video games, and I felt it best to keep that particular incident out of the punchline…
  22. Unless they don’t want to. And all these Sandlin, Mullens, Hicks packages are not going to sway Atlanta towards selling. “Yeah! Mediocre fungible pitching prospects and a longer, more expensive contract for a worse pitcher!! How could we say no?”
  23. Bubic is likely, but the one year means Duran/Abreu is a lot. Maybe if the include C prospect Blake Mitchell and RHRP Lucas Erceg…
