  1. As a longtime resident of Chicago, I can tell you fandom is most definteLily not split 50/50 between the two teams. More like 80/20 or 90/10 in favor of the Cubs. Even when the Cubs struggle. New York might not be as drastic, but the area is definitely pro-Yankee. And New England isnt all Sox fans. Most of CT is Yankee country, as is Vermont, where you can catch Yankee broadcasts but not Sox broadcasts. Boston really isnt a large city. 25th largest city (2025 data). 11th largest metro area (2023 data). All of the larger metro areas also have teams. Some (notably Miami) don’t seriously invest. But most do, at least periodically.
  2. The problem with signing Alonso and Bregman isn’t the money; it’s the years. Alonso wants 7 years, but that’s not very likely. But 6 is possible, and Bregman is looking at 5-6 years himself. This would make for a great lineup in 2026 and 2027 and maybe even 2028. But in 2030, Alonso is 35 years old and Bregman is 36. And these two are still combining for some $60mill on the roster for two aging and very likely declining corner infielders that are untradable, potentially unproductive, and hogging up too much budget to replace. How good will the Sox be then?
  3. From ages 8-12, we buried the bad OF in RF, because no one hit it there. But as you advance, the throw from RF to 3b becomes important, and is the reason the strong arm outfielders go to RF. I played a lot of CF, because I was always a good fielder (with a mediocre arm). I was like a Little League Jose Siri, but without the tantrums and suspensions. I did play corner, but as I could run, I was put in CF. Never struggled with anything on the corners except throws from RF to 3b. But in CF, if that ball was hit directly at me, i couldn’t judge distance for the first 1-2 seconds. And nothing was more difficult than running back for one over my head…
  4. I saw on the BTV boards a trade of Jarren Duran, Connelly Early, and Brandon Neely for Hunter Greene. Ive been in the camp all along that Cincy isnt trading Greene. But for Duran and Early and another? If I ran the Reds, I give that deal a lot of consideration. https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades/201831
  5. As a former OF, completely disagree. A ball hit directly at you in CF can be extremely difficult to judge. LF and RF give you an angular insight into the ball jumping off the bat…
  6. Hes not as cheap as many say, but he also Durant spend like he used to. And the cheap label got added quick - like the second they stopped adding one top five FA annually. They were still a top 5-10 payroll all through the Bloom years. That said, I predict one top FA this off-season. And probably another key player added via trade, which could include serious salary.
  7. So many things wrong or misleading with this post. Im not even saying JH should or shouldn’t pay more. But I am saying this logic is either false or misleading or both…
  8. Susac turns 25 next year and has played in AAA. Heyman was just drafted this year and hasn’t even played in the minors yet. It’s not a choice between the two…
  9. Because you signed or traded for someone better and need a 40 man roster spot. The Sox can DFA them and still keep them since neither has enough (or any) service time to refuse assignments…
  10. Hoppe throws hard, so he intrigues some teams with weak pitching in the upper minors. But in Boston, he was far down on the depth chart, Boston had every opportunity to protect him or, at a minimum, not trade him. They chose not to try to keep him, most likely due to control/command issues…
  11. Seattle gave up last year’s 14th round pick for a 27yo AAA pitcher. Not sure anyone in this deal is flying anywhere, let alone under the radar…
  12. Except their Abreu trade (for 2months of Christian Vazquez) is already among their better ones…
  13. You did say “have No idea what Duran would bring back. So far nothing.”
  14. So Duran is worthless in a trade because so far, he ha brought back nothing? Let’s live by that logic. All the cash in your wallet is worthless, because so far it’s brought you back nothing. And as it’s worthless, feel free to give it to me for nothing. Then we can start talking about those worthless bank accounts…
  15. But BTV doesn't tell you whether or not teams want them…
  16. If they liked RBI, O’Neill was a really bad choice. 31Hrs but only 61 RBIs . He drove in himself more than all his teammates combined. That’s not easy to do…
  17. Really? The 3 WAR outfielder with 2 GGs and 25 HR pop is the least desirable? Either I’m overrating him or teams like Rafaela more than I expected…
  18. I want to beat Bobby Flay…
  19. Yes, which is why you fit in here so well…
  20. I will get off that high horse. Apologies…
  21. But only because Panic at the Disco! dropped the ball by not using it first…
  22. Duran for a #2 starter as a standalone deal makes no sense. Any team acquiring Duran wants to get better now. Teams trying to get better now do not deal their #2 starter. A third team is a necessity…
