  1. Spotted for throwing hard, not for throwing strikes…
  2. Is your point that the IBL is better run than MLB? Big deal. Talk about a low bar. My daughter’s old 14U softball league was run better than MLB. Although to be fair, that 14U league did have issues before they implemented a salary cap…
  3. Disagree. Locking the high upside guys is a nice starting point, but those players are not always so willing to extensions. Locking up any young plsyer is fine, as long as you can lock him up at a proper value (or lower). I’m sure no one would be wild about a Nick Sogard extension, but if he signed a 4 year $10mill contract, it might wind up worth it. Of course, many would get upset at that gommmitment. The one thing about locking players is up is, they need to perform IMMEDIATELY or it was a mistake. Even if we ignore the first 2 dirt cheap years on Bello’s deal, the remaining contract gets you Jordan Hicks in free agency. And because Bello (who I can promise you was NEVER compared to Pedro by the front office) is actually under control cheaply, he is now somehow behind Early and Oviedo on the depth charts? I spent half the off-season pushing Bello out the door, but not because I wanted him gone. It was because his contract does make him a valuable trade asset, and we had depth to cover for him.
  4. But waiting has risks, too. Had the Sox extended Mookie Betts in the 2016/2017 timeframe, MLB would be much different today. Campbell’s deal really isn’t so bad. The length is the only issue. His $7.5mill AAV is basically Willi Castro/Rob Refsnyder level stuff on today’s market…
  5. The White Sox don’t draw fans unless the team is far ahead in first place. I when I go, it’s honestly nearly 40-50% Red Sox fans…
  6. Finally!! I’ve been posting it for months! Ok, maybe “month”…
  7. Mayer has an .806 OPS in spring training. What does a guy have to do to impress some fans?
  8. Spring Training is rarely a tryout for anyone anymore. Most roster decisions made in ST are more the result of injuries. The Sox only have 3 healthy catchers on the 40 man roster, and one of them is Mickey Gasper, who isn’t much of a catcher. Wong’s role on the 2026 Red Sox will be to catch Brayan Bello, and it’s a role that has worked out very well for Bello in particular…
  9. I’d love to play for the DR. But everyone in that country is ahead of me on the depth chart. Italy? Not sure they even have a word for baseball…
  10. I’m just saying that Team Italy roster looks more American than apple pie and obesity. Clearly being from Italy or ever visiting Italy or even visiting New York’s Little Italy was not a requirement. Now I don’t care about player origins, but I do think to represent the country of Italy, you clearly only had to meet one of the following: 1. Familial history tracing back to Italy in a minimum of the last 500 years. Or more. 2. Last name ending in a vowel. 3. The ability to find Italy on a map. Or, just find a map. 4. Ever eaten spaghetti or similar. And yes, they are willing to accept the space age polymers from Chef Boy-Ar-Dee. Reluctantly. 5. Sign up to play for Italy.
  11. So are your pulse snd blood pressure. But if they get to 0, it will be a whole new level of unexpected peace…
  12. We’re not out. Team Italy is basically the JV Team USA…
  13. Maybe. But… Danny Coulombe? How is he still unsigned? Does he want 8 years or something?
  14. The clock doesn’t start, but they can be added to free up the roster spot. Braiden award might be worth adding just so he can be a 27th man for double headers…,
  15. A lot of folks did and insisted he had already proven he was back, better than ever , and still 27 years old…
  16. They would have to DFA someone. Cheng is very redundant at this point, and Gasper is an older, lesser, switch-hitting Siegler. The Sox probably need to add bullpen deoth (Coulombe?), so maybe DFA them both?
  17. And this year’s winner of The Pedro Ciriaco Award, formerly known as The Jeff Bailey Award..
  18. Honestly, I pass. Although that could change depending on the deal. His contract is certainly cheap, but for multiple years, Greene is beyond unreliable. He might be the most talented pitcher in MLB, but I doubt he is ever on the field enough to prove it…
  19. It’s so much more. It’s now a racist truck stop where Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield both flopped before becoming stars. Your day is coming, Young Bryce Young…
  20. They did need pitching. And all of those deals were just one year. Would you prefer another David Price contract? Or Chris Sale contract? Even Eovaldi was kind of iffy on his 4 year deal. Given how these longer contracts for SP were all mediocre to awful, is it really surprising they tried another strategy?
  21. So explain why Buehler was clearly a horrible risk after 3 injury-plagued years but Chris Sale wasn’t after 3 injury-plagued years. Even Garrett Richards was successful until that mid-season ban on whatever sticky stuff he was using to achieve the elite spin rate he was signed for. And Kluber was a 3 WAR pitcher the year before. If only the Sox FO would use hindsight more often…
  22. If only the Sox FO would use a Time Machine to judge how these players are going to do before signing them to short term deals. So stubborn, huh?
  23. You don’t think Buehler was a high upside guy?
  24. Not even opening day and doubling back already?
