    I’ve been throwing out the name of Oakland’s Paul Blackburn for a while now. He’s not the most exciting SP, but he’s capable. Of course he’s under control for another year and makes little money, so Oakland might not be so keen on giving him away. I think just about every Cardinals’ SP will be available.     He did say Chang would not be able to play everyday at first. Kike is reality the only option left. Plus Cora does seem to like getting Arroyo involved periodically, which I think is a good idea. Moving Kike to SS on occasion is probably inevitable. I’d like to see the Sox add a SS (Tim Anderson? Paul DeJong?) but I think it’s unlikely. So just focus on an SP or two…

    Ohtani at least has a built in Plan B. He might have arm issues that prevent him from pitching, but unlike Sale, that might not render him useless. Of course there is the delicate balance of determining whether or not swinging a bat hinders any pitching arm recovery…

    I think the Sox at least have a tie breaker for Yamamoto, as he was Yoshida’s teammate in Japan. Of course, they have to be involved in a tie for it to matter. This does operate on the assumption that Yoshida and Yamamoto actually liked each other. Or at least didn’t hate each other. And that certainly could be the case…
