  1. At this point in the season, Bloom’s options are limited. Accusing him of sitting on his hands doesn’t change that…
  2. Or deal him in July. But for even more…
  3. I like a Laureano despite all his issues. Gotta respect that arm. But that’s a deal Oakland probably doesn’t make until July, when every team has had a chance to bid on him. Making a deal today likely involves either a minor leaguer/utility player whose current team doesn’t much care about, or taking on a contract another team would greatly prefer to move. The only candidate I can think of right now is DeJong…
  4. Did I or did I not post that as an example of overpay? BTV also accepts Nick Yorke for Ramón Laureano, who as a RHH CF, is a nice fit. Yorke didn’t necessarily strike me as a prospect the Sox will miss, but he certainly could be…
  5. It’s tough to make any trades right now, since no one is selling yet. So you have to really overpay to get anything. At 5 games out, the Sox and the Orioles have the largest deficit in MLB. Even the 2-8 A’s and 3-7 Cardinals are only 4 GB. That’s why I suggested DeJong. The Sox aren’t likely to get a hitter or pitcher yet without making a crazy deal. (Marcelo Mayer for Brian Reynolds?). But maybe they can improve by shoring up the defense…
  6. One time when my wife was upset with herself, she proclaimed “I must be the worst wife ever.” I reassured her by saying. “No, you’re not. That would be the wife of the guy that invented ice-fishing.” Somehow that cheered her up and still does to this day…
  7. All the while highlighting the Cora stuff was small, not the main topic, and definitely not clickbait…
  8. But he is the guy who gets the most out of them. Everyone who makes the majors already possesses an elite level of talent most of us can’t relate to. But maybe it’s enough for Cash to work with…
  9. Because the most important guy to steal away is Kevin Cash…
  10. Is Brewer more or less impressive than Franchy Cordero and his 1.257 OPS, 2 HRs and 7 RBI?..
  11. Maybe the Sox need to inquire about Paul DeJong. Trades in April/May are rare. But DeJong is returning from an IL stint back into a crowded Cardinals’ middle infield picture. As he is owed $11.2 mill this year (counting buyout), and is really just taking up a 40 man roster spot, I have zero doubt the Cardinals turn down any offer at any point in time ever. DeJong hits right/handed, albeit poorly. He does have some power. But he also has an excellent glove at shortstop. He very won’t hit like Duvall was hitting, but him at SS and Kike back in CF is a much, much better defensive alignment…
  12. Ditto. I thought they got him to fill the leadoff spot that’s been empty since Betts was traded…
  13. It was more balanced two games ago. What teams have lefty-heavy rotations?
  14. Yoshida Devers Turner Verdugo Casas McGuire Hernandez Tapia Arroyo Top heavy with the lefties, but that’s the big issue with Duvall’s injury…
  15. Yoshida and his .378 OBP and 3:1 BB:K probably should lead off. And that’s not even counting reaching on all those errors…
  16. Ice fishing isn’t a sport. It’s a hiding place for guys with miserable marriages…
  17. I golfed one time in my life. By Hole 8, I was praying to be struck by lightning…
  18. Doesn’t that apply to nearly every player over 32?
  19. See, you’re getting more optimistic already…
  20. Losing 1-0 is tough. But the Rays led MLB in runs scored by a wide margin (25% more runs that the second highest scoring team!!) and had the best pitching in MLB coming into this game…
  21. I’ll take that bet…
  22. Golf is not a sport. It’s a waste of time hobby and an excuse to wear plaid pants…
  23. Fail 7 out of 10 = good Fail 8 out of 10 = very bad
  24. Bradley flirted with hitting on occasion in his career in Boston. But even when he wasn’t hitting, the list of Sox glove-first centerfielders hardly begins and ends with him…
