  1. I think you and I differ greatly on the definition of a free agent bust…
  2. … at which point his agent blindfolded Devers and decided the conversation could proceed slowly from there…
  3. Maybe. Although a lot of that rests entirely on your definition of a bust and throw in a little supposition…
  4. Actually now that Casas and Bello are all but assured MLB jobs, Bloom did bring in 5 of the team’s top 8 prospects. None of his have graduated yet, but that’s far from surprising in 3 years…
  5. The flaw in this argument is that the Sox couldn’t afford Betts after someone closed up the budget by extending Sale and Bogaerts and doling out the largest contract in team history to a pitcher who gave them 588 IP and 9.7 bWAR. Neither is a horrible number for the 4 years he was on the team, but the contract itself was a massive albatross from Day One…
  6. True as well. And overall, the free agents Henry has shelled maybe a billion or so for over the years haven’t really done much…
  7. Who?
  8. I’m not so sure he is. Last time Henry interrupted a GM trying to build from within, he’s still paying the bills created by the replacement. Fans may not have patience for an organization being built, but that doesn’t make it the wrong way. Even you called for Bloom to be replaced by former Houston GM and Bloom clone James Click. But Houston didn’t win because of Click; there recent success is because they had those down years and built an incredibly solid farm system that keeps handing them help after help. From 2009 to 2014, they finished 4th or lower in their division (which included a few years in a then six team NL Central ), and since then have only missed the post season once. And don’t appear easy to show down just yet. That doesn’t mean the Sox need a full 6 seasons to build anything. But we also don’t know how long Henry is willing to let it go. Especially if it appears to be working…
  9. Taylor was also good in his 47 IP that year…
  10. So the left field and right field lines are at 100 metres. So Canadian…
  11. But at the end of the year, talent or not, the 2019 team was 84-78, 19 games out of first place. They finished two games closer to the top than the last place 2022 team…
  12. Well, maybe we still can get a top ten prospect out of it…
  13. Still some minor itching (but not burning) points for 2023. Just one LHRP? Last off-season, Bloom was all about LHRPs. Does Jarren Duran have a future in Boston? Does his speed make him tradable? Is he worth the 40 man roster spot? Is catcher depth set? Who gets bumped up when Story hits the 60 day? Early candidates include Tapia (best option for 4th OF), Goodrum (with Mondesi out, MI depth is needed), or Alfaro (need help at catcher).
  14. Arguing over which middle reliever was the best from the 2020 Sox bullpen is like arguing over which venereal disease is the most fun…
  15. He might need more sun block…
  16. And if they must change the channel, do it slowly and cleanly. No sudden movements…
  17. The thing about the Rays is it doesn’t seem like they ever drafted all that well. Yet somehow they always had an elite farm system…
  18. If they do see him on TV, tell them to be very, very careful…
  19. Rose should be in the Hall. He should just be banished from working for teams again..
  20. It’s true. Wagner was naturally right-handed, but he broke his right arm twice playing football. He was also, as you noticed, rather short for a pitcher. But this maybe 5’9” undersized hillbilly made it all the way to MLB by throwing 100mph with his weak arm. That alone makes him worthy of Cooperstown IMO. And then you throw on top of that the dominant statistics that he accomplished. Wagner is a glaring omission IMO…
  21. Not to mention he actually did all of it with his weak arm…
  22. I’m hindsight, I think it s not so much the relative obscurity of Rolen as it is the omissions of the names he mentioned. But even then, this same Hall of Fame houses Travis Jackson and Jimmy Collins, but doesn’t have Joe Jackson nor Eddie Cicotte…
  23. So the A’s are continuing their philosophy of making trades that just flop on BTV. How is Bloom not trying to fleece this team? Also, in related news, Darwinzon is available again…
  24. Great. Now you’re starting rumors that Bloom injures babies!!
  25. And at the time I thought he fleeced the Rays…
