  1. Thats the issue. When does the Cohen Gravy Train leave the station for good? It will depart, but it’s not scheduled just yet…
  2. Actually, the use of signs in baseball dates back to the 1880’s, where they were reportedly first used to communicate on field with a deaf player on the Washington Senators named Billy “Dummy” Hoy. Hoy was a talented base stealer, but once on base his manager had no other way to communicate with him. Signs were originally an accommodation, not a deception…
  3. I think Story at 2b, Mayer at SS, and, for lack of any other option - Durbin at 3rd. But what I’d really like to shake this team up is Story at 3b, Mayer at SS, Rafaela at 2b, Braiden Ward in CF. But Thsts not going to happen for multiple reasons, the first one being that it shouldn’t…
  4. While DD did hire him, I have no idea what their relationship is. But the Phillies are massively underperforming right now and I’m sure Rob Thomson is on the hot seat as well. Ironically he got the job because of the ladt Phillies’ slow start. Even if Cora’s relationship with DD has soured, I’d still take that job over the perennially misguided Mets. The Phillies players are underperforming, this is true. The Mets’ roster is a mishmash of overpaid decline, under-talented arms, and Juan Soto and Lindor. Go there and Cora’s ceiling is avoiding being the scapegoat.
  5. Baby steps. No need to throw Arias into the fray just yet, especially with all the stories abound on how the Sox are upset with younger players not following the team’s developmental paths. Just play the hot hands in the OF, swap Mayer and Story on the field. No idea if Story makes an issue out of changing positions like some other man-child infielder of recent years. But Story really has no leverage here. Is he going to refuse and take his .550 OPS into a self-imposed benching? Because that’s not exactly the worst threat I’ve ever heard. Oh, and keep Tolle in the rotation but move Bello to the bullpen. If Brayan rights the ship there it solves two problems. If he doesn’t, he pushes Watson out the door for the mop up job. Literally no risk…
  6. Is that Cora’s version of the Houston scandal? This is a very mafia-esque view on ethics and integrity…
  7. I suppose Mets have to be a consideration as well…
  8. Carrabis thinks Varitek is also fired but the org didn’t want to announce as much…
  9. That last guy doesn’t count because rules dont apply to him…
  10. They not only fired Fatse, they fired his assistant. And, according to some sources, his mom…
  11. And Pete Fatse was promoted to VP. Just kidding. He was canned. So Cora is 100% likely to get another job. Where will he land?
  12. I heard that, but I’m not entirely sure this was scapegoating…
  13. The new manager might be able to. But they probably want SOME consistency for the interim manager (reportedly Chad Tracy)…
  14. If things don’t change, Breslow is likely next…
  15. I’m getting a call and my phone says it’s a “C Breslow.” Do I answer?
  16. “Alex, you scored 17 runs today. We are supposed to be about run prevention, not run creation.”
  17. I'm glad MLB has rules, but the whole "non-pitcher" thing is just stupid. Teams carry THIRTEEN pitchers. They can squeeze another inning out of the back of that bullpen. And yes, celebrating off the left fielder is sad. But you know what's worse? Taking pitches from him. Were the Sox really trying to time their swings in garbage time? The Orioles clearly gave up - why didn't Boston? They bring in an OF to pitch, just swing. It's not about stats at that point. I want to say it's unsportsmanlike, but honestly, so is bringing in the outfielder to pitch...
  18. To be fair to Devers, he started out like that in Boston last year before morphing into Jimmie Foxx 2.0....
  19. Probably like $50-60mill over the last 10 years. Not enough to get the meaningful players the Sox could use. If they didn't gamble on Sandoval and Kluber and Richard, etic, FSG would just have a bigger bottom line. Or maybe they could extend some of the younger players. Maybe...
  20. He listed a bunch of talent, most of which. Is still here. Sale was hurt all the time. No one saw his comeback, not even Atlanta. Although many claim it was obvious, and were able to spot it well after it started. And Devers? Ungodly selfish. f*** him. Glad he’s gone. And Youre giving Devers credit for playing 1b? You do realize it was him that killed the idea in Boston, right? San Fran didn’t have better insight about him; they just latched on to a player who finally realized it was time to stop throwing tantrums. Montgomery is still in the minors, yet to debut. Meidroth is a replacement-level player, the type you’d be complaining about if he was still here. Like you do about Anthony, because he hasn’t set MLB on fire yet and his 22nd birthday is rapidly approaching. Hey, did you know Roman Anthony is 2 years younger than Braden Montgomery? Also, higher career OPS+ - Campbell or Meidroth? The grass isn't greener on the South Side...
  21. They’ve been on completely different pages for two years now. Last year they differed on Bregman and Devers. This year Breslow wanted “run prevention” so Cora counters by starting Story at SS every day. Breslow won’t or can’t pay for big bats, so Cora makes sure to use utility infielders in platoon roles. Breslow does almost nothing for the bullpen, so Cora makes his daily go to guy Danny Coulombe, who missed all of Spring Training…
