Based on these decisions, I challenge your assertion that Cora uses metrics at all, let alone is one of MLB’s foremost experts. Or 2. I agree Cora uses metrics, but I do wonder which one lead to these questionable decisions. i mean, you put a f***ing question mark after “Cora is all about metrics.” And then followed it up. In case you’re wondering, yes putting that question mark there absolutely signifies questioning the statement. Don’t blame me for that. I had no say in the rules of grammar. But it does lock it down that choosing option 2 is tantamount to illiteracy. Why not just challenge my sources anout Cora? Much smarter play here. (Hint: Bear in mind they do exist. I didn’t make that statement about him because I know him.) Your best bet here is to confess you were indeed questioning and ask for sources…

    No idea, but now you’re just being contrarian. Cora was hired in Boston because of his metrics knowledge and usage in Houston. Tjis has been established in numerous articles, books, etc. If your proof is “he played Franchy at 1b,” then no idea what to tell you. That’s not a decision that was made by any method of baseball logic. But yes, Cora has a strong reputation for metrics. And you disputing this or not being convinced doesn’t change that fact…

    So I have been looking at the “predicted” deals amongst the Clickbait Crowd, where trades are often intentionally lop-sided so as to elicit guaranteed reactions from one fanbase or the other. Best one to date - Sonny Gray to the Cubs for Matt Shaw and Jon Long. Certainly the Cubs could use Gray, given that half their staff is injured. But that’s a steep price for essentially a rental. Don’t get me wrong; if the Sox can get Shaw for 2 months of Gray, I am obviously so behind that move. I just think the Cubs aren’t that stupid. I could see them parting with Long for Gray. Hopefully Long plus. But Long plus Shaw is beyond a stretch IMO…

    Cora clearly wanted Devers off third because Cora is and was all about metrics. If Devers left third quietly, absolutely no way that upsets Cora and no way does he ever put him back…

    Unfortunately there were only two reported offers on the table for Mookie. The Dodgers offering of Verdugo and Graterol (which I ripped Boom for rejecting but reality is he did work out a better deal) and the Padres offering some crappy package involving Wil Myers (the dealbreaker), and a choice of Joey Lucchesi or some other mediocre arm, and then a choice of one of their two remaining prospects, and Campusano was not on the table. The real blame goes to Henry for insisting Price had to be included, which completely hamstrung Bloom on getting any decent return at all…

    So you read a post that says the Sox still haven’t disproven the conspiracy theory that the entire scenario was merely an elaborate plot to trade Rafael Devers and his contract, which has been productive to date, and you thought “Meh. Ok.” And moved on. Then you read another post that said the Sox did sign this deal in the first place as their legally binding agreement , which they never had to do, and that should constitute proof of their interest, and your first thought was “Holy s***! Thats such a stupid way to look at it!!” And then for proof supplied unproductive contracts garnered through free agency that were therefore completely different on multiple fronts. Yeah. And then you call other folks stupid. Oh the irony…

    Buyers remorse is one thing. The charge was the Sox orchestrated the entire plan as a giant conspiracy to trade Devers’ contract, and that the Sox still haven’t supplied any proof to the contrary. Learn to f***ing read.

    Wanting to unload a contract is one thing. Orchestrating a plan to anger a player to then justify trading him is another. Crawford spent his time in Boston screaming, complain it and not producing. Devers at least quietly produced for the overwhelming majority. Crawford supplied his own reason. The charge here is Devers was tricked into supplying one…

    No but it did look like Cora refused to talk to him about changing positions. We all know Devers made Bloom promise he would play third. Then when Bregman rumors started, Cora, a major analytics guy, wanted reigning Gold Glover Bregman to move to 2b rather than move Devers off third despite his being the worst 3b in MLB by multiple metrics. Then when Casas got hurt, Cora refused to talk to Devers about moving to 1b at all. If Devers wasn’t difficult, Cora certainly refused to talk to him a lot…
