  1. The Red Sox received former 11th round pick out of The U RHP Gage Ziehl…
  2. Donovan is too expensive? He made $2.8 mill last year…
  3. Agreed. It should have been done in 2021…
  4. Shaw did have a .839 OPS in the second half last year…
  5. I’m back to back posts, you cite Devers fear of making 1b errors and then how easy it is to get anyone to play 1b. And the Sox probably didn’t want another Franchy Cordero situation. But on May 2nd, you’re pretty limited to your own organization for solutions. And it’s not real easy in the off-season to get an MLB-caliber 1b to sign that minor league deal that allows you to stash him; teams usually just sign players like Abraham Toro that are willing to sign minor league deals…
  6. No word on Hoerner, who is quite beloved amongst the fanbase. IMO Shaw is more expendable of the two, because even if Hoerner isn’t extended, they still have another BA Top 100 prospect right behind Shaw in James Triantos…
  7. Cora not speaking can mean multiple things; you just chose the one you want. You don’t even acknowledge other possibilities. Telling Breslow to go get a 1b was actually childish. Theres no way around that. And on May 2, it was unrealistic. If Devers has commentary on the 2b and 1b parade that’s. I support him saying whatever he wants to and in whatever language he chooses. Those issues were around long before Breslow was on board, and neither of them have anything to do with whether or not Devers gets to refuse assignments
  8. Arraez is now a Giant. If Brendan Donovan is really a target, being a right-handed hitter might not be a priority…
  9. I can’t tell if this is facetious or not. Wanting him to learn English is actually bad requirement. Not every human is capable of learning multiple languages, and not every franchise face speaks English. Most notably Ohtani, who would have avoided lots of gambling conspiracy theories if he did…
  10. He can be used multiple times; he just has to clear waivers in between…
  11. Right. Hey why don’t you show support for your theory? Not sure what Cora saying he never asked him proves. (Actually sure exactly what it proves - absolutely nothing.) But I actually saw through an interpreter Devers say he was not going to move, Breslow should do his job and get another first baseman (this was May 3rd!), and the classic line about “do they expect me to play every position?” Yeah, he sounds like he was all about being a good teammate…
  12. Yes. If he is activated on to the 40 man roster, he cannot be demoted. Only DFAd…
  13. I hope so because I eould be more on board with this than I should be. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/01/luis-arraez-weighing-multiple-offers-wants-to-play-second-base.html
  14. Casas was out. The only sensible replacement for his bat was Yoshida. Putting Yoshida to DH and Devers to first did actually make the most sense. It’s very unlikely Devers forgot how to field in 37 games. Devers wasn’t a team absolutely a bad teammate. He watched a player get hurt and his reaction was “I’m not helping out. Breslow should go get someone else.” And I’m barely changing words there. His exact words were along the lines of “it’s Breslow’s job to go get someone else” snd “do they expect me to play everywhere?” And that sounds like a team first guy to you? Mookie was an elite RF who constantly practiced other positions for years “in case they need [him] to move.” Devers was a poor defensive 3b who threw a tantrum because someone FINALLY got sick of his butchery at that position. And you think DEVERS is the team player?
  15. Cora didn’t talk to Raffy about 1b for the same reason Cora didn’t want Bregman at 3b - he knew Devers was a difficult person not going to move willlingly. It has nothing to whether or not he thought Devers could field 1b. Was Cora reluctant to move Devers to DH because he didn’t think Devers could field there either? Devers wasn’t a team player. It’s a shame because he was an elite hitter, but it’s reality…
  16. My response didn’t seem facetious to you? You thought that was serious?
  17. Why would Breslow trade Suarez for relief pitching in July? That’s neither a buy move nor a seller move, unless the Sox are overloaded with offense but need bullpen help, and found another team with the reverse problem. In which case, get some RP now instead of Suarez and avoid that whole problem…
  18. The Sox could sign Suarez now and free up money over the next 2 months. In fact, if they wanted Suarez, that’s how they would do it because: 1) waiting to offload money before signing Suarez doesn’t guarantee he will still be available 2) then they would know exactly how much they need to offload That Suarez has not been signed is a pretty good indication he isn’t on their radar, at least not as high as some fans think he should be. And you’re not upgrading. You’re willingly devaluing Duran in order to “upgrade” the DH position from a player with a .762 OPS in the past 3 years to one with a .775 OPS in the past 3 years…
  19. Life is much easier if they just sign Suarez for 3b. But they haven’t done so. Why not? I’m guessing it’s because they do not like him enough for whatever deal he is seeking. Trading Duran for a lesser return does not change that…
  20. I wouldn’t trade Duran for Baty, and I certainly wouldn’t do it to offload Hicks or Yoshida. The “let’s not only sell low, but also use those contracts at their nadir to devalue our other players” seems like the dumbest strategy possible. I mean, why not trade Yoshida, Hicks and Roman Anthony for Mark Vientos? After all, it checks every box many fans want. (And is fair on BTV.) Yoshida gone? Check Hicks gone? Check Outfiekd logjam clear? Check Infielder acquired? Check Right-handed power bat? Check Freed up enough money for a Three True Outcome hitter that doesn’t actually draw walks but makes up for it by striking out more? And check! (That was a sarcastic trade offer.)
  21. So now Suarez is holding out for a no trade clause? He was traded last July; not sure it’s a priority…
  22. That one who does it eagerly is the Mets, because out outfielders are better than the their infielders. Maybeva deal of Abreu straight up for Baty is about ss equal as it gets. Both players have 4 years left and both are coming off 3.0-3.5 bWAR seasons. But I think Boston likes Abreu too much…
  23. I’m going to type 5 words I have never typed before and God willing, will never type again. <deep breath> I agree with Old Red.
  24. You’re more obsessed with spending than winning. I don’t think that’s even up for a counter argument…
