  1. Yoshida is getting on base at a .388 clip, despite the lack of XBH. But he leads the team in this category. Story has been the exact opposite with a team worst .236 OBP. Lately the only time Story doesn’t make an out is when a groundball is hit in his direction…
  2. His offense is a big part. In the last 20 games, he has a .481 OPS and 1 RBI. Hes one of three major non-contributors to tjis offense, alongside Duran and Durbin. Duran has at least picked it up lately, and Durbin should be on the hot seat as well, but at least unlike Story, he has played elite defense. Story has stayed cold and can’t field. Time for some time off..
  3. “Son, your mom and I are getting divorced, and we thought you should know - it’s your fault.”
  4. Their fielders are 10th in DRS. And interestingly, 28th in OAA…
  5. Story probably does get more time, but that doesn’t mean is the smart move...
  6. But that’s not what I asked. I asked - why was he demoted? Was it work on something? And if so, how does a player work on that?
  7. Just saying.. of if I ever posted on a Spanish forum or an Urdu forum or a Finnish forum… I think I’d occasionally copy and paste a tweet that I thought fit my feelings exactly…
  8. Be nice to our participants whose first language is not English…
  9. So Campbell’s is not realistic based on one at bat? My question is - what is he working on and how is that done? If he was sent down “ to work on something”, it’s probably not actually worked on during regular game play…
  10. At a minimum, Story should be benched. But honestly, it’s not like IKF or Monasterio are great replacements. I suppose when Anthony returns, Anthony to LF, Duran to CF, Rafaela to 2b, Mayer to SS, Story to bench…
  11. Rafaela is currently over 100. So let me get this straight. Eugenio Suarez has an OPS+ of 83 but you believe he will eventually get up to the 115 he has averaged for the past 3 years. To get him on the roster, the Six should release Duran with his OPS+ of 61 and ignore his past 3 years of a 124 OPS+ because he clearly won’t get back to that. I mean, definitely bet on the 36yo here and not the 29yo…
  12. So now 100 is a good OPS+? You called Rafaela an incompetent hitter for being just over a 100 OPS+. And called for Yoshida (OPS+ of 110) to be released. And Suarez currently has an OPS+ of 83 so Hes basically Mayer at the plate, but a 36 year old version. Sure maybe he comes around to his last 3 year average, but why do you think Story, Duran, etc. won’t? I guess the monster is always greener…
  13. Plus none to lead off an inning - 5 with one out, 3 with 2 outs. Hard to score when you’re always a routine grounder from going back on the field.
  14. Hes a lousy third baseman. And really, not much a hitter when he’s not in AZ. There’s a reason even Cincy just gave him one a year flier. I did want the Sox to get a better 3b. I liked Paredes and Marte (with Mayer moving to 3b). I liked Hoerner and Shaw as additions. Durbin’s is unexciting, to be kind. Hes a fielder who hits for contact and simply has very little power. I like that he can draw a walk, but thats it. But Suarez is getting older, cannot field, and hasn’t posted an .800 OPS outside of AZ since 2019. I didn’t like him then, and his .663 OPS now isn’t changing my mind…
  15. Right. So you’re saying the Sox needed someone capable three 1b/DH types and ignore defense? And it’s just all offense? The Nationals are the second highest scoring team in MLB. Whats that gotten them? A 19-22 record in a weak division. Yay offense only! Meanwhile three teams are in the top 20% for both total runs and DRS. Their combined record is 77-42. The Sox needed offense. But TTO hitters only capable of 1b/DH are cheap for a reason..
  16. No. Suarez has played 3b and he knows where the position is. But those days should have ended long ago. He has -14 DRS at the position across the last 4 seasons. In fact it’s a safe bet the reason Suarez got little to no attention last offseason was most teams had him pegged as a 1b/DH type…
  17. Again another 1b/DH type. The Sox needed someone capable of playing 2b or 3b. There’s more to baseball than batting…
  18. Well, it was a crazy assumption/conclusion based on different sample sizes. For example, this year after 40 games, the Cubs have scored 215runs. Last year after 40 games, the Cubs had scored 227 runs. So did their offense get better or worse with Bregman? And is he in any way responsible for any of it? The answer is - roughly equal is my guess. 12 runs across 40 games might be dependent on opposing pitchers. (Or their one 16 run outburst last April.) I can’t get team OPS+ numbers across.partial seasons, but my guess is the Cubs slowly reverted from a number like 126 after 40 games down to a 118.
  19. Arguably a bargain, but Marte is older and fell out of favor with the DBacks for his time off requests, some of which seemed a bit sketchy. Possible those rumors were a bit exaggerated. And Bello might not be held with the same contempt around the league as he is by Sox fans. He was ninth in the AL in ERA ladt year. Hes not nothing…
