BTV suggests fair trades might be for Kyle Harrison or David Hamilton. I’d assume they don’t want Hamilton, but I never thought they’d want Jeffrey Springs. And he would cheaply fill their upcoming 2b gap. But Harrison for Diaz? Probabl their preference. Certainly not the one I prefer, so probably the one they do…”

    18-1 in Joe Morgan’s first 19 games. Followed by under .500 the rest of the way…

    We have also heard how this was the first 9 game road sweep for the Sox since 1977. And how the Sox beat up on weaker teams so it’s not impressive. But yet this road trip was also the first time the Sox have swept 3 consecutive series in 3 different time zones, which is not only crazy but also questionable scheduling. (The ‘77 Sox road trip was a west coast swing that included an expansion team.)

    Has any player ever gotten anything but a raise in arbitration? Of course, his willingness to accept offers does help him here. There are competing teams with word situations in LF that might be interested. Atlanta, who has been using Mauricio Dubon and Mike Yastrzemski leaps to mind, especially with Yastrzemski hetting injured. San Diego hasn’t replaced Ramon Laureano yet, although their status as buyers is questioned, and their long-standing interest in Duran may be tempered. But what either team might give up for Duran is certainly not what it was a year ago. At a minimum, if either team can give up a guaranteed contract for Duran, it becomes a cost savings since Duran can be non-tendered…

    Especially with so few teams definitely out. Thsts why I think the Angels, Royals, Reds, Rockies and Athletics are the only definite sellers. (And historically the Rockies just sit this stuff out.) Washington, Detroit, and San Diego are sitting on the fence. Maybe Arizona, Baltimore and Toronto as well…

    Ok. But he was an 8fWAR shortstop last year, and I believe he will be worth at least 15 fWAR over the next 5 years. It doesn’t even feel like a stretch…

    You do realize well over 99% of Internet trade suggestions (of which this wasn’t really one) never happen, right? But without them, it greatly reduces forum discussions. And it’s not like they’re limited to TalkSox. I challenge you to find a baseball forum on the internet that doesn’t have any. I can understand his contract being a deal breaker; you’re not alone there and it absolutely has potential. But in this case, some folks think it’s a hypothetical risk worth taking. Of course no one knows if Lindor is even available…

    If he stays healthy, I bet Lindor accrues more WAR over the next 4 years than half the starting shortstops in MLB…

    No one said Breslow will do it. No one said the Mets would either, and no mention of a return. The only discussion was that his contract isn’t a horrible deal breaker for some. What if you really understood how hypothetical situations worked?

    I only commented on Cronenworth’s availability and said he would be remarkably easy to acquire, and did so in such a way that it should not be considered an endorsement. Because it wasn’t. I wouldn’t deal Yoshida’s contract for Cronenworth at this point…

    … and his release before the bonus was likely more a case of the Sox giving him up to the last minute to figure things out as opposed to saving some pennies…
