  1. The issue I see with this team is where they would add a RH bat. 1b? Consindeting the Sox are chasing the postseason with a platoon of Dominic Smith and Romy Gonzalez, they have plenty of room to upgrade. 2b? Hamilton is basically league average. Westbrook seems like a career minor leaguer living his dream. If the Sox get a 1b, Romy can take the weak side of the platoon. Detroit’s Andy Ibanez is a great option, as he has quietly become one of the best bats vs LHP in all of MLB. SS? Rafaela isn’t a good SS. He’s fringey there with the glove. But getting a RHH SS who can field as well seems like a tall order. DH? Masatska is hitting RHP, but is weak vs LHP. Someone like Mark Canha would be a good compliment. RF? A platoon bat for Abreu (who isn’t likely going anywhere) could push Refsnyder to a DH platoon. That’s 5 possible positions. I suspect 1b and/or 2b would be the best candidates, assuming they all fit on the roster. But right now we’re chasing the postseason with David Hamilton, Dominic Smith, Romy Gonzalez and Jamie Westbrook manning those positions. Who had THAT on preseason bingo?
  2. Less Bernardino, more Horn and Booser…
  3. He blew a 2 run lead in LA second game after the ASB…
  4. Also pretty heavily influenced by one bad outing in Coors Field. Before that, he had a 3.72 ERA/3.12 FIP with a .650 OPSA in that stretch…
  5. Seattle is taking the fork in the road!!! Although I think that path will be more common, since the true sellers are so few…
  6. Odds are against all of them making Cooperstown, but that hardly makes them equals. Dustin Pedroia isn’t in Cooperstown. Neither is Ed Jurak. So clearly they’re the same. Right? Also it might be a tad early to write off 23yo Grissom…
  7. Who plays until he’s 41 years old? Getting into some very unprecedented territory hear…
  8. Pivetta delivered 6 shutout innings against the NL West leading Dodgers in his start before that one. I take it that’s forgotten not
  9. Not really. Westbrook is 31 years old and in his first season. In order to get on a HOF ballot, a player needs a minimum of 10 seasons in his career, meaning Westbrook would have to play until he was 41, an age much less than 1% of ball players reach while active. Grissom (23) and Hamilton (26) could both achieve this requirement at a more realistic ages…
  10. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw more trades like this - two buyers swapping their depth with each other. It’s trickier, because certain stars have to align for it to happen. A couple years ago, the Phillies and Angels made a fun swap of Brandon Marsh for Logan O’Hoppe. It was one of those depth for depth deals that made so much sense, no one saw it coming…
  11. If you go to a six man rotation to give additional rest to yours starters, you defeat the purpose by having them go more IP per start. For example for simple math, look at a 60 game stretch. If a five man rotation goes 5 IP per start, each starter makes 12 starts and pitches 60 IP each. A six man rotation going 6 IP per start would make 10 starts each and pitch 60 IP each.
  12. To AZ: AJ Puk To Mia: Deybison De Los Santos, Andrew Pintar
  13. Some people would be insisting the Sox go into Sell Mode and deal Sale, probably for an actual second baseman like that kid in the Braves’ organization whose been tearing up AAA…
  14. Teams constantly discuss the six man rotation, but no one ever adopts it for an extended stretch. Probably because while it helps the starters, it can wear down the bilullpen…
  15. This needs endless discussion!!
  16. Gee, wait. Are you saying the Sox trade of Sale didn't work out and that Giolito getting hurt has caused depth issues in the Sox rotation? How come no one has discussed this endlessly and repeatedly before? You need to get this stuff out on a press release!! Time's a wastin'!!
  17. I'm not entirely sure being in the Top Ten of the White Sox farm is a huge honor and a precursor to a bright future...
  18. But if the Sox kept him, no way does he win the NL Cy Young...
  19. Well he already received his mail there…
  20. Dylan Cease last 3 games 22IP, 30K, 2H…
  21. Some of them won an All Star game…
  22. A glorified Niko Kavadas…
  23. If only Mark Portugal was still active…
  24. I like that Abreu and Fedde are close on BTV and could see that working out for both teams. Especially if the White Sox don’t move Crochet. But ultimately, I think Tyler Anderson is in the Sox immediate future. BTV hates him, so not sure what he’s worth. I’ll start the bidding with Nick Yorke…
