  1. Think the Sox spring for any of Dylan Cease, Zac Gallen, Ranger Suarez, Michael King, or Framber Valdez? To me, those are the big free agent names. Of course the Sox do have some serious trade resources as well…
  2. I didn’t expect much last offseason. And for a while it looked like just Crochet and Chapman. But they did go big on Bregman…
  3. MVP mentioned the rumored names for Joe Ryan (who incidentally sucked after the deadline). If he is right, they were astronomical…
  4. The Sox have ten starting pitchers on their 40 man roster (counting injured folks) and won 89 games this year. But only one of them is any good?
  5. But Hudson had already thrown up his stop sign!!! When Hudson was stopping him, Chisholm still had the ball! At that point, he didn’t know Chisholm was going to throw or just hold on for a second. If Chisholm doesn’t try for Yoshida - hardly uncommon on that type of play - Eaton is DEAD at the plate. Hudson didnt have the luxury you have had of reviewing that replay multiple times to make a decision. He had a second, msybe less. And when he made it, he had no way of knowing what Chisholm was going to do. With Story coming up, I get why he held him and say it was the smart move…
  6. Was Hudson supposed to know Rice was going to drop the ball. SoxS4 posted the picture. Eaton was ON THIRD BASE while Chisholm was getting to his feet. Hudson has no way of knowing if Chisholm is even going to make a throw. If Chisholm does hold that ball like many infielders coming out of a dive, Eaton is 3 full seconds away from home. Plenty of time for Chisholm to nail him at the plate. Even if he pauses briefly to check his Instagram first….
  7. Give it a rest. Kyle Hudson made the right decision. And even if Eaton scores that run, who was going to pitch the extra innings for Boston? Bring back Eovaldi for another 7 IP?
  8. An argument could be made that Yoshida (.667 BA in this series) earned a bigger role after the September he had…
  9. They did very well for what they had. Not many other postseason teams are starting Romy Gonzalez three state postseason games…
  10. This is not on Cora. But some fans think every loss means someone needs to be blamed and probably fired. Certainly no credit to the opposing team. The Sox either win or gave the game away. No third option…
  11. Not really. If you think that double by Bellinger was such as easy play, not sure what to say. Lowe botched a routine grounder. Beyond that, just lucky placements by the Yankees…
  12. And you remind us of John Fiedler aka the voice of Piglet. Same movie ;)
  13. It could have been but that was hardly a routine play. The only real poor defense was by Lowe…
  14. The only problem with that walk was the Yankees followed it up with two routine grounders that found the OF because the Sox were playing for a double play. Unlucky inning for Early. What was the hardest hit ball? The seeing eye groundball by Rosario?
  15. AI. Thats my new standard answer for how everything incomprehensible gets done…
  16. I didn’t mind Eaton there. If I’m going to argue for Abreu playing, I think he should have started over Duran (with Eaton in LF)…
  17. Look at the pictures Sox24 posted. Eaton in on third base as Jaz is getting to his feet. At this point, Eaton (who runs 29.7 feet/sec per StatCast) is 3 full seconds from home. If Chisholm makes a good throw to first base and it takes a full second and half - a slow play - Eaton is still 45 feet from home plate. Then Rice has 1.5 seconds to throw a ball 90 feet. If he throws a mere 60mph - roughly the speed of a bad high school fastball - the ball gets there in 1 second, 15 feet ahead of Eaton. Basically folks are mad at Hudson for not anticipating Rice dropping the ball. Hudson made the right call, it just didn’t work out. That can happen…
