  1. With Gausman on the mound and the way he’s pitched against the Sox, this game is ovah.
  2. And another ground ball hit in a good spot for a hit to start the second.
  3. Key was what was Plawecki yelling. Nate’s got his back to the plate; catcher has to yell where the play needs to be made. Either way, I’m not going overboard on it. Bogie’s poor throw set the inning up.
  4. Eovaldi made the proper play. He was running hard towards first to field the ball, would have been very tough to stop, whirl and make an accurate throw for the tag. Not one to try in the first inning.
  5. Roster moves: Sale to the 15-day IL Bello recalled Wong optioned to Worcester Sanchez added to active roster.
  6. The nightmare scenario is Soto being traded to the Yankees. That would pretty much eliminate the one weak spot they have, Gallo.
  7. Before we get all high and mighty re. Canada’s rules, it should be noted that the same rules apply to non-US citizens seeking to enter the United States, i.e., proof of vaccination.
  8. Next trip north of the border is in September.
  9. Okay. You been traded to the Chunichi Dragons forum for a 85th round pick in 2288.
  10. Larry’s mind is made up; no amount of actual data indicating how Brasier has been faring since his return from Worcester will change it. Brasier not a great pitcher; no one would say that. As the #4-5 guy in the pen, he’s fine.
  11. Still waiting for you to say what you would have done. Who you would have used? Cmon Larry, show us all how good a manager you are.
  12. Who would you have put in? Name names. Schreiber, Whitlock and Houck had covered the previous 6 innings. Be the manager, say what you would have done.
  13. Sure you would, but it still says you will fail more than 7 out of ten times and it still remains a fact that he allows a run every other inning on average. This was one of the other innings. There are multiple ways to get to a 4.50 ERA. You can pitch an inning a night and give up a run every other one of them. You can pitch 10 innings over 10 games, giving up 5 runs in one of them and 0 in the other 9. And countless combinations in between.
  14. Which means he gives up a run every 2 innings and a hit a little less than 3 times in 10 at bats. And keeping a runner from scoring from 2nd with no outs is a tall order for the best pitchers (easier if you’re facing this year’s Red Sox)
  15. Who would you put in next? They’ve used their top 3 covering the last 5 innings.
  16. No they wouldn’t. JBJ sucks as a hitter, but his career stats are well above those of virtually any good hitting pitcher you could name. Bob Gibson had a .206 BA. Don Drysdsle was at .186, and those guys were sometimes used as pinch hitters.
  17. Can’t see the game right now; would either fly ball have scored a runner other than JD?
  18. Crawford was cruising; I had no issue with him starting the 7th. Schreiber should have been warming, and Crawford should have been lifted after the first hit and certainly no later than the second.
  19. At least you have a plan. The posters who just want to DFA everyone with no idea of who would replace them drive me nuts.
  20. At least the Sox lost to a major league team; Blie Jays are losing to the Royals AAA-AA all-star team
  21. Who? There are no outfielders at Worcester worth a damn. They’ve already called up Duran. You could put Cordero out there, but then you have Dalbec at first full time since Casas has been out since sometime in May. I don’t know who’s at Portland, but I’m not aware of any real of prospects there either. Bradley is not the main problem with this team. He’s not playing full time, and I’m guessing Refsnyder will continue to get a lot of playing time. JBJ is not doing anything much different than expected. Dalbec on the other hand …
  22. They may be low budget, but they are good. The two should not be conflated.
  23. Bradley’s not doing anything other than what’s expected. Dalbec was counted on to supply offense and has utterly failed at that.
  24. I’ve defended him long enough, he is totally lost. He may make it in another organization, but he’s not going to make it in Boston, and whatever he may do elsewhere doesn’t matter.
