  1. Oh good, Bogeys up with a man on 3rd. DP ball coming up.
  2. He didn’t. 3 weak hits (once again one due to a shift that seldom seems to work), gets squeezed on a couple close pitches resulting in walks. Get any pitcher up over 25 pitches in an inning and he’s going to have trouble. First pitch to Duran is called a strike on a pitch Bello never got.
  3. Everyone is reminded to ignore trolls.
  4. Kid doesn’t need the ump squeezing him too.
  5. As I said in last night's thread, I'd be putting Vlad Jr. on his ass the first time up. I'd have Dalbec at 3rd, Cordero at first and a backend reliever starting, preferably one who throws hard. Bello can come in after said reliever is ejected. I want Dalbec and Cordero in the infield for size.
  6. Thing was, it wasn’t Sanchez’s fault. He’s properly in position to take the relay and throw to second, which would be normal on that play (especially given it’s Chapman running, not exactly prime Usain Bolt). On the replay you can here somebody (I assume Vaz or Bogie) yell “4” about when the ball hits his glove. That’s way too late for Sanchez to change his feet and make the throw.
  7. Manoah still has me pissed off. I would start Brasier or Hernandez tomorrow. Vlad Jr. gets nailed in his first AB. He’s been a dick every time something comes close to a Jays hitter anyway and he’s been that way for a couple of years now. If said starter doesn’t get tossed, hit the next guy too. Then Bello can come in.
  8. I was a junior in college at that point, so other than the playoff game, I only saw what went down via box scores in the paper; the South Bend Tribune was not noted for their coverage of Red Sox baseball and WTIC, which I grew up listening to in southern Connecticut, didn't broadcast out that far west. Still, I guess the bookend Sale and Devers injuries are what I'm thinking of.
  9. Perfect capper to what might be the most depressing week of Red Sox baseball I've been a part of, and I go back to 1966 as a fan.
  10. “It’s the most helpless feeling you could ever feel,” Duran said. “Until you guys catch a fly ball in twilight, let me know.” He was fine with the first part. That last part tells me he won't make it in Boston. The one thing you can't do is piss off the media against you. And fact, Mr. Duran, a lot of us have caught fly balls at twilight in far worse conditions than you will ever see at a major league park. No, the balls we caught didn't go as high or as far, but none of us have your athletic ability. Players lose balls in those conditions; rational fans can accept that. What they can't accept is the lack of effort afterwards.
  11. Consider the source and why are you engaging him?
  12. WRONG. We were playing the Toronto Blue Jays; Canadian rules. It was obviously a FG and two singles.
  13. Thought about saying that, but didn’t want to pile on.
  14. Why not try Dalbec on the mound? He pitched in college.
  15. Low leverage inning.
  16. 3 TDs and 2 point conversions would do it.
  17. The players bear the brunt of that. A manager/coach can only do so much. This team may just need a tough guy manager. Cora has shown he can manage, but his style doesn’t seem to fit with this bunch.
  18. Yeah, that was such an easy play. There are a ton of plays to bitch about tonight. That was not one of them.
  19. Just catching up after running some errands. Duran should have been removed from the game immediately after that grand slam. Not for losing the ball; that can happen. Making absolutely no effort to go back and get it is inexcusable. Fred Lynn and I went back and forth sometime last week about base running mistakes and benching. Most of them were because of being too aggressive. There is no excuse for laziness. Duran’s ass ought to be sent to Salem or Greenville.
  20. Nah, but then he’s almost 83 now.
  21. That was a veteran pitcher totally schooling a rookie. Each splitter was just a tad lower than the one before. JBJ has no such excuse other than he can’t hit.
  22. It’s a middle of the pack roster; in the AL East, that could well be last place. What I do see is a team that knows deep down they aren’t going to win.
  23. Note that both hits for the Sox tonight have gone to the opposite field. There’s a lesson in that guys.
  24. Personally, I’d keep Vaz; he’s one of the few guys on this team who actually looks like he give a damn. He at least puts competitive ABs together.
