  1. JBJ has a better ERA than Connor Seabold and Darwinizon Hernandez
  2. Oh, that's probably not too far off, because the odds with any minor leaguer are pretty high. The fact that he is struggling a bit at AA might be a good thing. It will reveal a lot about his makeup.
  3. I'll agree on game calling, not his strongpoint, and he never really improved at it, which is odd since Varitek had to be tutoring him the last couple years. Steals are usually off the pitcher. Not saying Vaz was great, but he was nailing 30% of the runners. Hardly a blank check. The Major League average is 25%. By comparison, Plawecki is at 8%. Bench, Rodriguez and Molina are not the norm.
  4. Far too early to make that call, especially with Binelas. He just turned 22 and is in his first full year of professional baseball (drafted in June 2021); he's played about 120 minor league games spread over 4 levels in just over a year.
  5. JBJ as a 4th outfielder made some sense; pricey but I can see some logic there. The problem was they never had the 3rd OF, and once Kike went down, they were screwed. Now I assume they somehow thought Cordero had figured things out, but he turned out to be JBJ lite; slightly better as a hitter but just as streaky and far worse defensively (and that was just his OF defense). Bloom's error was in assuming players could move seamlessly from position like Tampa does. I'm guessing that Tampa has their guys playing everywhere in the minors so that they are able to move around. If you don't come up doing that, its a recipe for what we saw with Arroyo in the OF, Cordero at 1st, etc. I'll give credit to those players for saying, sure I'll try it, but it was a horrible plan.
  6. Is that where that asshat went? I met Heyman nearly 40 years ago; he lived in the apartment next to mine when he first started out as a sportswriter for the Moline Dispatch. He was an arrogant putz. I was pretty good friends with his boss and his boss agreed with my assessment.
  7. He hasn't posted anything a while specifically designed to provoke you. You cannot make the same claim. And when you two were cluttering the board with your little pissing matches, I did call on both of you to stop. You sometimes have good stuff to add here; stick to doing that.
  8. Why do you insist on trying to provoke reactions from him? Posts like this are specifically meant to do so. It won’t work. You do realize he no longer sees anything you post, right?
  9. If good Pivetta shows up tomorrow, there’s momentum. If bad Pivetta shows up, today didn’t matter.
  10. I think Eucker is only doing home games for the Brewers now, so that transition has already started. I’m going to guess Remy didn’t just show up the guy he became in the booth. And in either case, it could be tougher; how would you like to be the guy who replaced Vin Scully.
  11. Cordero sent down; Refsnyder to the IL (knee sprain which might explain some of his inaction lately, but who can say for sure). Davis stays. Hosmer will join the club in KC on Thursday.
  12. Probably had to make sure Pham got there.
  13. Both are in their 1st full year of pro ball and both are in High A right now; we have no idea what they can be. Odds are they won't amount to much, but that's true of most prospects. I live in an area with a Class A team; one of the things I like to do at low level minor league games I attend is to figure out the one or two guys on each team who will someday get a cup of coffee in the majors. Not be a star, just get there for a brief time. That's the odds.
  14. Boom. In hockey, that would be a game misconduct. Basketball, a double technical.
  15. Best not to give him even that much acknowledgement. Ignore works very well; so long as you're logged in, you don't even see his wittiness. Have to be logged in though. I don't like using ignore, but some posters, who add nothing to the conversation, have earned it.
  16. Phillies talking to the Sox about Eovaldi and Hill.
  17. Houck. Whitlock pitched 2 innings yesterday.
  18. Dalbec’s D has some holes, but he has become very good at those tough scoops.
  19. He had 2 California state high school titles as well; one of his high school teammates was Baseball Hall of Famer Frank Robinson.
  20. Vazquez to Houston; there’s a thread on it.
  21. Just the stork trying to cause trouble. Binelas just turned 22 in May and in his first full year of pro ball (he played 3 years of college ball through 2021). Stork’s a little closer to the truth on Hamilton, who will turn 25 at the end of this season. He played college ball at Texas, and is in his 3rd year of pro ball. Developmentally, we have to remember, there was no 2020 minor league season. Stork was just doing what he normally does, cause trouble. He is best ignored.
  22. The Benintendi deal looks like something the 1950’s era Yankees and KC Athletics would have cooked up.
  23. The real question is does Bloom want him back?
  24. Maybe nobody wants what we’re selling. That is a possibility you know.
  25. Soto as a player is better; Soto is also a punk who is very lucky he’s playing in this era, because his antics would have gotten himself face planted by the likes of Gibson or Pedro.
