    No idea. I’ve always wondered why a lefty can throw that curve/slider that breaks from the left handed batters box across to the right handed batters box but you never see a righty throw it a similar pitch.

    I just looked at Kike’s numbers; amazingly, they are actually slightly better this year than last. Admittedly, that does not require much vertical.

    Difference is, Casas is a rookie in his 101st game. He’s may improve, he may not but the jury is still out. Kike is in his 10th year and is approaching 1000 games. He’s on the downside for sure.

    Asking for a sweep is difficult for any team. Your W-L prediction could very well be spot on given the state of the starting pitching. Sending out your preseason #7, #8, #9 starters for any length of time is not a recipe for success.

    I’m guessing that Pivetta, a recent convert to the pen, still requires more of a starter’s time to warm up. As a long time reliever. Ort probably can get ready a lot quicker. Only thing I can think of.

    Radio guys have repeatedly said Duvall has some sort of stomach bug; when Ort and Pivetta started warming up in the top of the 2nd, they were hoping that that Whitlock having it was the reason. So that does mean that Caleb Hamilton and Christian Arroyo are the bench.

    Yoshida being out today hurt them big time there. Perfect spot for him. Duvall being sick isn’t helping either.

    Well, according to MassLive, Paxton will not pitch in the Texas series. So he’ll be back against the A’s Friday or maybe Saturday.

    Sox pitching this week is a mess. They are already undecided on Tuesday. Bello is going Wednesday. Paxton is up Thursday, but per the radio guys, his wife is due with their second child Tuesday, so who knows when that will happen or if he makes that start. I’d guess Crawford goes Friday and then we’re back to who knows for Saturday and next Sunday.

    Ramirez could have gotten more on the open market; he is very happy in Cleveland and did not want to leave. His deal is a textbook definition of hometown discount.

    How low have they sunk? 3 pages and 36 posts (as of this one) in a loss. During most losses, a couple of the more negative types can total that all by themselves.

    Pivetta with 7 Ks in 3 innings. 44 pitches, how long do you ride him? I’d go one more and see where they’re at.

    The Yankees have struggled. The O's are on a pace to win 99 games. That is not struggling.

    Problem is no one knows how to slide feet first anymore. There was nothing prettier back in the day than a well executed hook slide.

    Marlins can pitch, but the last 3 games have been ridiculous. This is a team that is expecting something to go wrong every game and when it does, they fold up in a fetal position.
