  1. This guy's dead. We’ll have to cross him off the list. Could we get Jake Taylor?
  2. I know Pudge used to catch 150 or so games a year, but at 77, do you think he could hold up for 120? Varitek’s only 52 but appears to have put on a few(?) pounds since he retired. Maybe they could each do 81.
  3. Joe Castiglione’s final game behind the mic.
  4. And therein is the sole reason the Tigers, Royals and Twins are contenders for the last two wild card slots.
  5. Hate to break it to all of you, but scoreless means exactly that; no runs allowed, period. Fitts has allowed 2 runs, albeit unearned. Fernando’s record is safe for now
  6. Throw it down the middle. Maybe they’ll hit it at someone. You can’t catch a walk.
  7. Don’t know about the choice of Penrod here, but they’ve used 5 relievers so they are just about out of bullets. Not that it really matters.
  8. Agree on Youk overall as an analyst, but at least today’s comment wasn’t without merit, that was walk number 3 on the season (one of which Cora held up 4 fingers for).
  9. Tonight will not be “easy” with Francis on the mound for the Jays. Splendid is correct a couple posts above this one.
  10. The problem with Fred isn’t that he has the opinion of Rafaela that he does. That’s fine. It’s that he feels the need to post it multiple times every game.
  11. Thanks, but I’m probably going to watch the grass grow all 3 days. It might rain here Sunday, so that should be particularly enjoyable.
  12. They’ve been behind Seattle all year, The Mariners have around 70 more than the Red Sox. The Rockies have more as well. So 2nd in the AL and 3rd in MLB, which is probably where they will finish as the “race” isn’t particularly close in either direction.
  13. I’d vote for a triple rainout. luckily, unless I remember to VPN my TV to Atlanta, Buffalo or some other place out of the Midwest, I’ll be blacked out. The Twins are one of my 6 blackout teams.
  14. The kids should be better. The really rough September the kids had may actually help that. The sophomore slump happens when kids think they know what they’re doing. This September should serve as a reminder to them that they don’t, and hopefully accelerate the last bit of development.
  15. 4 out with 9 to play, have to climb over 3 teams, one of whom gets to play the White Sox 3 times. They could be officially eliminated Sunday.
  16. He got him, but Gonzalez with a heck of an AB.
  17. In a way, it’s almost too bad Sogard got that hit. I’ve never seen a perfect game.
  18. If by some miracle it gets to Raffy, do you send Wong up to pinch hit?
  19. He’s been hurt most of if not all year. Pro athletes play hurt all the time. They have to be able to tell the difference between hurt and injured.; you can’t play injured.
  20. 100% agree. He is totally lost at the plate right now..
  21. Smart guy, too. After his career ended, he went to dental school and practiced for a quarter century, retiring maybe 7 or 8 years ago.
